POPSWashington cuts Wall Street's allowance But none of that stopped right-wing critics of Obama's alleged march to totalitarianism from piling on. "This is fascism," Rush Limbaugh burbled on his radio show. "They're still privately owned, but they're being run by who? Not even Obama, we're told. The freaking pay czar, who doesn't even have to tell Obama what he's doing. So he doesn't have to stop at the execs; he can limit the pay of the janitors. He can limit the pay of anybody he wants, and pretty soon it's gonna spread beyond companies that took TARP money." Fox News posted a lengthy article wondering whether Feinberg even had the legal power to set the pay caps, though there's broad agreement elsewhere that he does. "If bankers don't challenge this, if they supinely accept it out of fear of what the government will do if they do challenge ... then you have a nation of sheep," Fox's legal analyst, Andrew Napolitano, said.

POPSDanes Explain Why Obama Failed I don't quite see it exactly as the article expresses it. The people I have talked to, don't see it as Obama failing, as much as America in general, failing. Obama's (USA's) appearance here left many with a sense, that America somehow felt entitled to get the games, merely because they wanted them. Now they seem "in shock" because their wishes weren't accommodated, obviously disregarding the fact that Rio deserved to win. I am very happy on behalf of Rio and I think they're gonna put on a hell of a show. .:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGfJ0_KMiro

POPSThe World of Paranoia Is In Our Faces Everyday & We Think It Is Protection
Just tonight one of the people who attend my classes spoke about how Mercurochrome is now banded in Australia - because it is deemed to be too dangerous due to the mercury and yet, I know people who are now well into their nineties and besides a bit of physical frailty are bright, sprightly and healthy. There is a point, where caution simply just turns to paranoia - I really reckon the world is much tooooo paranoid about all the things that can go wrong and hence we inhibit, not just our own, but everyone else's freedom in the process. We are all going to die and whilst I choose to create optimum wellness at any given moment in time. I really can no longer be bothered with filling my head with all the things that can go wrong because of all the rules, regulations, stories (fact or fiction) that fill my head on a daily basis. My life IS - short or long it matters not - less intellect more heart - it is as beautiful as this little video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZE-ML-B

POPSRules For Training Your Dog And Your Politicians
For example, a lot of people are trying to get different behaviors out of dogs and politicians by going to town hall meetings and yelling at them. Now, as Cesar would tell you, that is not a good strategy. While that might intimidate some of the more timid dogs and politicians, many of them will feed off that angry energy and only get more frantic, barking and calling everyone who disagrees with them racists and Klansmen. As Cesar will tell you, dogs and politicians often act out because they don’t know what’s expected of them. To help with that, they need rules, boundaries, and limitations. Politicians are the same way. Their rules, boundaries, and limitations are clearly defined in the Constitution For example, socialism is clearly not allowed, but politicians are constantly testing this boundary and often ignoring it entirely. Why? We’re not always consistent about it. Consistency is important, but that’s not all there is to handling your dog or politician . . .

POPSUS is slipping toward Plutocracy: Money rules
Latest example is healthcare reform. In the second quarter of 2009, the health industry spent $133 million on lobbyists, reckons the Center for Responsive Politics. That doesn’t count lobbying by associations. The US Chamber of Commerce alone spent $26 million on lobbying in the first half of this year, “a good chunk” on the health issue, says Dave Levinthal, spokesman for the center. Polls show the public wants healthcare reform and a public-insurance option. So the health-insurance industry is pretending to be in favor of reform while trying to kill it through campaign contributions, ads, and lobbying, says Wendell Potter, who until recently led corporate communications at CIGNA, a major health-insurance company. Moreover trade unions provide some balance of power to the might of business and wealth. In Sweden, 85 percent of the labor force is organized; in other major nations 35-40 percent. Compare with 7.4 percent of workers in the private sector in the US.

POPSAnother Power Grab? "Clinton, of the Internet Security Alliance, praised President Obama's May science policy review, which he said would take cybersecurity in the right direction by promoting incentives to get the private industry to improve its own security measures. But he faulted the Senate bill, which he said would centralize regulations for an industry that is too varied to fall under the control of a single set of rules without endangering the economy and security. "We think a lot of things need to be done to enhance cybersecurity," he told FOXNews.com, but this bill is "not something that we could support." " Here's my simple thought: At what point do we say 'stop'? At what point is the government taking things a step too far? When will Americans wake up?

POPSGuggenheim turns 50 a legacy of spirals passion spirit and art on the fifth "I think the legacy of this building is in the message that architecture does not have to lie down and play dead in front of art," says Paul Goldberger, architecture critic for The New Yorker. "That there are other ways to show art than in a neutral space. That an architect can do something that's powerful in itself and that enhances the experience of looking at art."
