POPSMexican Drug War Cops Want Bigger Guns Calderon has made crushing drug cartels the centerpiece of his presidency but violence has grown since he sent out some 25,000 troops and police officers against them. Medina Mora said higher prices for cocaine and methamphetamines on U.S. streets showed the crackdown was shutting off supply routes and hurting cartel revenues.

POPSTravel Photography: What to take in your kit? • Tripod - I tend not to travel with a tripod or monopod these days ...Instead if shooting in low light I tend to find fence posts, use my camera bag or find other stationary objects along the way to support the weight of the camera. Some use the mini tripods that are all the rage these days, but they tend to be best with lighter point and shoot cameras than larger and heavier DSLRs. • Point and Shoot - some DSLR users back a compact point and shoot camera as well. This is for those nights when they hit the town and don’t want to haul all their gear around with them but want to record the night. This is a bit of a luxury and indulgence really but if you’ve got the camera and want the flexibility - why not?

POPSCarter's Hamas Talks Could Aid Exodus to Peace
In a larger sense, the view of Hamas as a party so evil that no one may even talk with it keeps many Jews in a state of spiritual slavery. It reinforces their long-standing habit of defining Jewish identity primarily in terms of radical vulnerability, as if the only meaningful way to be Jewish were to stand firm against an enemy and always be ready to shoot at that enemy. This slavery is especially tragic because it is self-imposed. It arises not from objective perception of facts imposed from outside, but from choices that Jews themselves make, choices that Jimmy Carter calls them to reconsider. So this Baptist leader, more than anyone else, can now claim the title of a modern-day Moses, willing to lead the Jews from slavery to freedom. Carter stands as a fine example of what the ancient rabbis called "a righteous gentile." A growing number of Jews, in Israel and the U.S., publicly agree with Carter that Israel must reach a peace agreement with a Palestinian government represent

POPSSpace Warfare I had to look this up after I saw a commercial for the US Air Force. The commercial basically said that the air force now is responsible for defending our space interests. They said that a missile can knock out satellites in space. I guess because our military has proved that it can be done they feel that they have the right to scare people into thinking that every one can shoot a satellite out of the sky. Oh and by the way, the UN voted that space will only be used for peaceful purposes, the unoosa.org link explains that resolution in detail. 163 nations voted yes and three abstained, one being America. I love America but this is ridiculous, this shows just how arrogant our leaders (and a majority of Americans) are.

POPSUSS Lake Erie::Satellite::Target Acquired::Says Pentagon Because the satellite was orbiting at a relatively low altitude at the time it was hit by the missile, debris will begin to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere immediately, the Pentagon statement said. "Nearly all of the debris will burn up on re-entry within 24-48 hours and the remaining debris should re-enter within 40 days," it said. The use of the Navy missile amounted to an unprecedented use of components of the Pentagon's missile defense system, designed to shoot down hostile ballistic missiles in flight — not kill satellites.

POPSWarships poised to shoot down satellite They say they must deal with the 'toxic propellant hydrazine I fail to see how a missile can deal with it any better that reentry Perhaps the missiles are surplus and they need to justify military spending. How much hydrazine is there? The satellite was defunct. The whole equation just doesn't add up. The cure seems to be far worse than the problem.
