We Are The Change ~ We Are The Party of HELL NO!!!

But the movement has given birth to a new generation of movers and shakers who have rejected establishment partisan politics for nimble, Internet-facilitated, issues-based advocacy. The success of the Tea Party movement and its allies/successors shows that there’s no monopoly on “community organizing.” You are the change we’ve been praying for. March on! *** Livecam of the D.C. rally here. Wow! The Tea Party Express blog is here. 12:34pm Eastern: Police estimate 1.2 million in attendance. ABC News reporting crowd at 2 million, tweets Tabitha Hale from D.C. Teeny, tiny fringe, huh? Video highlights via Ed Frank: 9/12 Taxpayer Tea Party March on Washington, DC However big it was, it was bigger than expected. From the NYT: “Many came on their own and were not part of an organization or group. But the magnitude of the rally took the authorities by surprise, with throngs of people streaming from the White House to Capitol Hill for more than three hours.

Giving Thanks where Thanks is Due

The parasites that are sucking blood money out of Americans for substandard healthcare definitely thank the naïve, gullible Town Hall Disrupter Sheep and the well-paid Right-Wing Shills for spreading outright lies about Healthcare Reform, making people think that it's something that it isn't. Those people are doing their part to ensure that more people die due to insufficient or substandard healthcare, that more people go bankrupt trying to pay when they do get hurt or sick, and that the income gap between the rich and the poor continues to grow to record levels. If you see someone spreading lies about Healthcare Reform; whether due to ignorance, or malice; correct them. Tell them the truth, and point them toward http://www.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck/?e=10&ref=text and FactCheck.org to debunk those vicious mischaracterizations of something that will help everyone in the US (except the rich)

Axelrod’s Profits: Uh, Who’s on the Take From the Drug Lobby Again?!?!
merrie
by merrie  8-20-2009    2
Two firms that received $343.3 million to handle advertising for Barack Obama’s White House run last year have profited from his top priority as president by taking on his push for health-care overhaul. One is AKPD Message and Media, the Chicago-based firm headed by David Axelrod until he left last Dec. 31 to serve as a senior adviser to the president. Axelrod was Obama’s top campaign strategist and is now helping sell the health-care plan. The other firm is Washington-based GMMB Campaign Group, where partner Jim Margolis was also an Obama strategist. This year, AKPD and GMMB received $12 million in advertising business from Healthy Economy Now, a coalition that includes the Washington-based Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America, known as PhRMA, that is seeking to build support for a health-care overhaul, said the coalition’s spokesman, Jeremy Van Ess. You won’t be surprised to learn that the HEN coalition also includes left-wing Families USA, the sellouts . . .

President and Congressional Democrats - Do not like Democracy in Action
dl211
by dl211  8-10-2009    5
NBC holds back nothing in their support for Obama's position. In an article under the header "News/Politics" they ran this column, which calls the folks speaking at town hall meetings "fake" "angry" and "comical." That was just the first paragraph. The column later calls them "infamous" "yokels" and "astro-turfing wing-nuts." Again, this is under the heading "news." MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell has in interesting way of supporting Obama. While not directly questioning the sincerity of protesting Americans as does the President, Mitchell claims they "just don't know what's good for them." Not that Andrea's an elitist or anything.

Who Says Iranian Regime Media Has No Sense of Humor?

Incidentally, I wonder what the Advertising Standards Authority would make of the claims in the PressTV advert. Laughably, the advert claims the channel “gives as voice to the voiceless” and offers “24/7 truth”. The truly voiceless like Mansour Osanloo don’t get a spot on PressTV, but loudmouth shills and propagandists do. via michaeltotten.com Ahmadinejad to 'improve world' Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad calls for constructive engagement with the world, vowing continued 'servitude' to the people, 'justice and progress'. But now a page we've turned, Knowing that we've been burned By Wall Street crooks, We're for transparency And no more leniency For all that miscreancy That cooked the books. Can Obama save our butts From all the right-wing nuts Who sank our boat? Will stimulus billions make? The bankers cease the rake That plopped the cherry on their cake Which caused the bloat? It remains yet to be seen If we'll still have the means To pay the bill. Can we still school our kids And contract out no-bids? Or are we on the skids That lead downhill?

Obama Signs Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
Wisco
by Wisco  1-29-2009
The piece goes on: Ledbetter said she didn't become aware of the large discrepancy in her pay until she neared the end of her 19-year career at a Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plant in Gadsden, Ala, and she filed a lawsuit. But the high court held in a 5-4 decision that she missed her chance to bring the action. The court ruled that Ledbetter didn't sue within 180 days of the discriminatory action -- even though she didn't know about it. It was an absurd ruling by a majority made up of pro-corporate, anti-worker shills. This a good bill to be the first signed into law by the new president. SCOTUS may be committed to helping companies screw workers, but that can be fixed.

Islamists And Leftists Alike, Are Lying, Pro-Terror Shills
merrie
by merrie  1-14-2009    4
Marc Garlasco a "military expert" at Human Rights Watch has now weighed in. Back in 2006 Garlasco claimed that Israel had committed a war crime when a shell exploded on a Gaza beach killing a family. Israel proved that the shell was not fired by its army, and Garlasco persisted in his charge, demonstrating that he was no "expert" as much as an anti-Israel activist. Garlasco's making an argument that Israel should not respond to terror if the response will cause collateral damage. In doing so, Garlasco is denying one of the tenets of humanitarian law: that it is a war crime to place military assets in civilian areas and he is effectively telling Israel that it must not strike back at all. It's an odd position to be taking for someone from an organization that claims to champion human rights. But then, HRW has shown that, for the most part, it is more interested in protecting terrorists than Israeli civilians.

Blocking Obama's health plan is key to the GOP's survival
Spiritualmonkey

The Republicans preached "deregulation & free markets" like the good corporate shills they are. We let the corporations & the investor class dominate the economy, and they got rich, drove the fucking thing into the ground, set us up for the next great depression, then held out their hands for a taxpayer-funded bailout. I for one think that maybe letting the government dominate the economy for a while might not be all that bad. The government is us, the citizens. It's answerable to us. The corporations are answerable to their shareholders. Bring on the Socialized Medicine and lets put a spear through the heart of the GOP once & for all . ;-)

McCain is at least as much of a threat to gun rights as Obama, and this from a good source. In fact his record proves that he is more aggressive against gun rights than Obama has demonstrated. McCain is a neoconservative, not a conservative. Go to the Gun Owners of America link at bottom of clip to see how they tear him to shreds on this issue. (This is not posted to support Obama but to check the propaganda that shills for McCain)

MSNBC Is Buzz Flashes "Media Putz of the Week"
zasel
by zasel  9-11-2008
I have always preferred MSNBC for cable news coverage, as they seemed to be the least influenced by right-wing threats. Unlike Fox, who claims to be "Fair and Balanced" when in fact they are Republican shills, MSNBC was far more able to claim that mantle. However, it appears that MSNBC is getting nervous because the two hosts they have who are more left than right, have been garnering complaints from the Republican Committee and the McCain campaign. Compared with remarks that O'Reilly or Hannity make on a regular basis, Olbermann et al, are quite mild. And then again, Olbermann has been, up til this week, the only truly lefty commentator, while FOX is ALL Conservative ALL the Time. But MSNBC has demoted Olbermann as well as Chris Matthews because the RNC did not like the fact that they questioned Sarah Palins qualifications for office. My God, is there nowhere fair minded people can turn any longer?

Hate Limbaugh or Limbaugh's hate!
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  5-13-2008
Dangerous or Laughable? (I chose both but the former rather than the latter is more direct... One Dangerous Dude!) ~~~~~~~ It was no surprise that Limbaugh would call for riots at the Democratic National Convention in Denver to embarrass the Democrats. Limbaugh -- and his fellow purveyors of hate on the airwaves -- are dangerous demagogues whom pro-democracy Americans too easily dismiss as poltroonish shills for the entrenched powers. It's a regular staple of the millionaire right-wing echo chamber to use the explicit or implicit language of violence. In fact, the entire "frame" of everyone from Sean Hannity to Bill O'Reilly to Rush Limbaugh is to convince their listeners that people who don't agree with these "pundits of patriotism" are the enemy and dangerous to America. It's The Stupid, Stupid--The Media gets a FAIL
papananook
by papananook  5-8-2008    16
Nevertheless, we get nonstop coverage of this man for two solid weeks from major television, radio, and newspapers. And yet the worst of the lot, television, when confronted with the fact that they were complicit in disseminating Pentagon propaganda by using retired generals as paid shills for the Iraq war effort, has less to say about it than Bill O'Reilly on the difference between a loofah and a falafel. Part of the problem is that modern news editors hate "policy," because "policy isn't news." But in times like these, it isn't hard to make a case that, yes, policy is news--but today's media is too vapid and too hard up for rapidly vanishing eyeballs to care. Four months in a row of job losses on the edge of recession calls for some sort of policy change (and the president is doing the Charleston trying to avoid saying the R-word). Gas prices are skyrocketing toward the $4/gallon mark, and two of the three presidential candidates are saying that cutting the gas tax--in effect, giv
