POPS@cc_chapman on the fishbowl effect I agree with this blog post from cc chapman and respect his point of view and willingness to express it. i personally find the social media space to be way to introverted - and i certainly feel that there are way too many talking heads trying to be heard. I personally am at the opposite extreme (not a good thing), as i am trying to do cool things to help people share with others but rarely (if ever) come out of the 'lab' to promote myself. In all honesty, i wish i had that in me more.

Ott suggests that a shaman entered the yurt through the smokehole with a sack of mushrooms in his hand, to be placed in stockings over the fireplace where they could be dried for celebratory use. I dunno... I was thinking of making a mushroom gravy for dinner that night, but not a shroom gravy, if you know what I mean... That might make the meal a little too interesting. ;-)

The team of scientists say the alkaline soil acted as a preservative, and the herb was still green, though it retained none of its typical odor. "To our knowledge, these investigations provide the oldest documentation of cannabis as a pharmacologically active agent," Russo told The Toronto Sun. This ancient batch of marijuana was reported to have a fairly high content of THC, the main ingredient in cannabis. They said however that the sample was too old to determine a precise percentage. This is not the first time historic marijuana has been discovered; other locations in the world include Egypt and other sites, but the pot stashed in this Chinese tomb is the oldest so far that could be thoroughly tested for its properties.

The special treatment of the body and use of stones to keep it in a certain position suggests the woman held a unique position in the community, likely some sort of a shaman, the researchers said. "The burial of the woman...is unlike any burial found in the Natufian or the preceding Palaeolithic periods," Grosman's team wrote. "We argue that this burial is consistent with expectations for a shaman's grave."
