POPSA Bad Law The recurrence of offense by rapists and pedophiles is well documented. But what about the multitude of teens that are branded with the scarlet letter of sex offender? The present laws make no distinction between a rapist and an adolescent experimenting with sex. Yet the consequences are the same regardless of the "crime". This is foolhardy and a tremendous waste of taxpayer money to say nothing of the devastating consequences of teens being caught with their pants down. What began as a law to protect children has turned children into lifelong pariahs and that is not right.

Why wasn't the mother watching this child? OMG, this whole story sickens me from start to finish. I'll NEVER understand why anyone would want to rape another human being much less a child.

New Jersey has not executed a prisoner since 1963. I bet jail wouldn't be a deterrent to crime in a state that hadn't jailed someone in 45 years either.

You know, with all the public outcry against ALL sex offenders, it's not often that you find a voice of reason, or if you do it is quickly snuffed out by all the hysteria surrounding it. As bad as you may think sex offenders are, particularly ones involved with minors, they are still people. Murderers, among other criminal types don't suffer the same kind of oppression that sex offenders do, and yet plenty of times their crimes far exceed the damage of the sex offenders. So why do sex offenders get the short end of the stick? I say it's because of the American's need to have something to demonize, and whenever you can tie something, even loosely, to the loss of innocence in a child, you have a perfect candidate to attack. By oppressing sex offenders more and more, rather than creating a safer community, you are creating a large group that is far more dangerous than they would be otherwise. POPSMan sues Dallas suburb over sex club ban I kind of wonder why existing "disturbing the peace" laws weren't enough. I can sort of understand the frustration with a habitual offender, but what's next? Do you ban heavy metal or hip-hop music because parties featuring those can make lots of noise?

POPSCanadian child-sex offender to be released on bail?!! Bail for this convicted child-sex offender who is wanted on similar charges now in Thailand??? WTF :mad: If the Canadian jurisprudence system doesn't want to keep this criminal locked up they should send him to Thailand to face the charges against him there. I doubt that the Thai court would release him on bail. Sheesh.
