POPSIs Sarah Palin a Feminist? Women, including teenagers, need the knowledge and the tools to make responsible and moral decisions about such events that will certainly have such an impact on their lives. Third, anyone who believes that abstinence education can avoid these adverse effects is living in la-la land. A significant percentage of our society will continue to have sex outside of marriage. Young women still report a stigma for using contraception, and so then sometimes have unprotected sex. Contraception itself is not foolproof. Epidemic proportions of women and girls continue to suffer from rape. If 11 year old Erin Maxwell, who was recently raped and murdered in our community, had survived her rape and become pregnant, Sarah Palin would favor forcing her to carry the child to term. Forcible childbirth and coerced parenthood is bad for children, for families, for communities, and for schools.

POPSSex and Lies -- Obama's K-12 Sex Ed bill Obama’s explanation for his vote has been accepted by nearly all commentators. And perhaps that is indeed why he voted for Senate Bill 99, although we don’t know for sure. But we do know that the bill itself was much more than that. The fact is, the bill’s intention was to mandate that issues like contraception and the prevention of sexually-transmitted diseases be included in sex-education classes for children before the sixth grade, and as early as kindergarten. Obama’s defenders may howl, but the bill is what it is.

POPSPollution in the womb and obesity The researchers then assessed the link between concentrations of HCB in cord blood and weight and BMI at age 6.5 years. There were three different statistical models that took into account different factors: one that took into account child age and sex, a second that took into account sex, maternal age, height, pre-pregnancy overweight or obesity, education and number of children and a third that also took into account the weight of the child at birth.

POPSMcCain's Ad was factual Obama may have voted for the law because he was told that it was meant to protect kindergartners from inappropriate touching but the law was about much more. Parents could opt out with a written objection but why the heck should we be teaching kids about condoms and the clap.

POPSCriminal Background Check Many employers choose to search the most common records such as criminal records, driving records, and education verification. Other searches such as sex offender registry, credential verification, reference checks, credit reports and Patriot Act searches are becoming increasingly common. Employers should consider the position in question when determining which types of searches to include, and should always use the same searches for every applicant being considered for one position.

POPSThe rape of South African justice
Julius Memela and his ANC gang of thugs have threatened to kill the cartoonist, Jonathan Shapiro (Zapiro). (They sounds like Islamic fundamentalist to me). Please note, neither Thabo Mbeki, Nelson Mandela nor Jacob Zuma have made any public statements to quell the anger or subdue the threats. The entire head and heart of this country is corrupt and the tragedy is, we have simply supplanted one tyrannical government with another. (Please note Jacob Zuma, our ex vice-president and now future president, a man with no class, integrity or even education, and many wives and countless children and very sticky sticky fingers, was acquitted of raping a young HIV positive LESBIAN female He never denied having sex with her (assuring us that he had taken the necessary precautions against HIV by showering afterwards). He claimed it was CONSENTUAL(sic) - with a LESBIAN!!!??? . And he got away with it. But the public have not forgotten. Hence Zapiro's portrayal of Zuma wearing a shower-ca

POPS "A Toxic Mix of Lies and Double-Speak" Actually, I don't think this "unusual" behavior is beneath him--he IS a war criminal, just nobody ever brings it up out of some false respect 'cuz *he suffered more than anybody in history as a POW*. The guy who shot him down was the Hero and saved a lot of lives.

POPSIn Tangle Of Young Lips So now we have the internet bringing all this stuff online and it translates into real life with real live kids in a candy store. I think the lack of proper education and failure to talk to these kids account more for this social rebellion and we would do well to learn from it.

POPSBlizzard Of Lies "But there’s another answer, which may be even more important: how a politician campaigns tells you a lot about how he or she would govern. And now the team that hopes to form the next administration is running a campaign that makes Bush-Cheney 2000 look like something out of a civics class. What does that say about how that team would run the country? What it says, I’d argue, is that the Obama campaign is wrong to suggest that a McCain-Palin administration would just be a continuation of Bush-Cheney. If the way John McCain and Sarah Palin are campaigning is any indication, it would be much, much worse. "

POPSNice summary of Palin
Let's not be charmed by the trivia that she has an unmarried pregnant 17-year-old daughter (you'll get them if, like Palin, you don't believe in real sex education), or that she likes "moose stew" (you'll apparently often get that in Alaska), or that she proceeded with her last pregnancy aware she was carrying a Down syndrome child -- let's face it, it would have been a story if, as a prominent pro-lifer, she hadn't. But there is little to make you smile about the real Sarah Palin who, as Governor of Alaska, has gained the executive experience of, say, the premier of Tasmania. Go on, then. Name him. Palin would bring to the White House not just the usual baggage of the deeply conservative American rural constituency, but a fearsome religious commitment that today's great geostrategic shifts are underwritten by the Lord. Her Lord, that is, not that of the godless many who fall outside the claustrophobic restrictions of her Wasilla Assembly of God where sitting is an option b

POPSMcCain's Desperation There are limits. For a candidate who claims that he'd rather lose a campaign than lose a war this latest McCain slime fest shows that he is the ultimate hypocrite. McCain's accusations are not even clever lies. They're just self-serving, grammar school playground lies. Are people so stupid that they'll buy this tripe?

POPSMcCain's sex-ed lie "shameful; downright perverse" Ad falsely accuses Obama of advocating explicit sex education for kindergartners; the Illinois Senate bill referred to recommended teaching kids to recognize inappropriate touching, encouraged teachers not to go along with "stork"-type myths; it never even suggested "sex education" in the way the ad portrays. McCain lies again.

POPSIs Sex Information the Federal Government's Business?
They were however forced to make sexual choices without information about how to reduce the risk of disease and pregnancy, not to mention how to manage the panoply of emotions that accompany sex. A recent CDC study estimates that one in four (26 percent) young women between the ages of 14 and 19 in the United States - or 3.2 million teenage girls - is infected with at least one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. The study also found that Black teenage girls were most severely affected. Nearly half of the young Black women surveyed (48 percent) were infected with an STD. Kevin Fenton, M.D., director of CDC's National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention, said. "Today's data demonstrate the significant health risk STDs pose to millions of young women in this country every year." High STD infection rates among young women are clear signs that we must demand that young people have access to comprehensive sex and HIV/AIDS education.

POPSPlease, Let's Talk About Sex! "Let’s start there. Talk to your kids about sex tonight, with confidence and a straight face. “I’d prefer you waited to have sex. That said, whenever you choose to do it, make sure you use one of these condoms.” It works."

POPSBirds do it, Bees do it, but humans don't! Of course, we should teach our teenage children good judgement, if that is at all possible when it comes to the powerful instinctual urges belonging to all life, the drive to BEGET. Try telling a teeny bobber about love and responsibility. They'll look at you, the same way you look at a dog chasing its tail, bewilderment of such a stupidity lag. But, for most parents, the teen "eye roll" just slides off their back, down to the floor where it can be easily stepped on. But all sarcasm aside, teaching this program alone is not just block-headed, its outrageously dangerous. By not equipping our young with knowledge on self preservation, we neglect the most basic fact of life, the instinctive teachings of fundamental survival techniques. Go and watch some wild life with their young and you will see such training. Birds do it, Bees do it, even Monkeys in the trees do it. Also on http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com

POPSAbstinence or a condom in every pot Over the past two decades, as more and more school systems have implemented abstinence programs, the rate of teen pregnancy has declined. The number of high-school students who say they are virgins has increased, and the abortion rate has dropped. Is all of this good news due to abstinence-only programs? It’s a complex subject, and the evidence remains inconclusive. And clearly any school abstinence message is practically drowned out by the vulgar and licentious culture all around us. Still, we may be slowly climbing out of the hole we’ve dug for ourselves. The last thing we should be doing is declaring abstinence education a failure.

POPSLife Of Her Party "When McCain gets in trouble, he pulls out the P.O.W. card. Now Republicans are pulling out the sexist card. But when you use sexism as an across-the-board shield for any legitimate question, you only hurt women. And that’s just another splash of reality."
