POPSObama-Netanyahu talks see no result Israel will only work for anything "on their terms only". Having seen a bit more lately about the people in the settlements, it appears to be more like a "leper colony" type situation for those who Israel doesn't want ( and probably couldn't care if they came to nasty ends). Clinton has since tried to clarify the remarks, saying that the Israeli offer does not got far enough. Still, she has indicated that the Palestinians should resume negotiations with Israel without a full settlement halt as they demand.

POPSMore USA-ME Double Talk The USA pretenses for ME peace stumbled a few days ago when Sec. of State Hilary Clinton was praising Israeli's latest sham offers to maybe-someday-for a while, perhaps slow down construction on new settlements. She called this sham an "unprecedented offer," and then tried to press the Palestinians into accepting it as enough good faith to renew so-called peace talks. But even the puppet Palestinian government said no: Freeze all settlement expansion now is their condition to restart so-called peace talks. This Israeli favoritism also angered every Arab who could read. So Clinton had to backtrack, double-talk and was given a script to read: this clip. The truth is Israeli's policy is to kill as many Palestinians as necessary, destroy their homes, farms, industry, water and power supplies, sacred sites -- hinder travel and work, starve the Gaza strip to death until all Palestinians give up and move out. One of the prime reasons, I believe is that in the past 40 years peace never got close to settling the land and right to return questions or how an independent Palestine could be viable. The current 20-40 year old group have very little willingness to go slow about getting to yes. To them a year is a long time. He has allowed Iran time and wiggle room to escape the brunt of the one type of sanction that once held promise to restrain Iran: crafting and enforcing sanctions on companies and nations that export refined gas to Iran. In the last year, threats of sanctions on those few companies and nations that supply Iran with gasoline and heating oil have been partially effective. Unfortuantely there is a joke in U.S. politics about "that depends upon what your definition of 'is,' is." -- meaning, on specific issues - is his objection to 'nukes,' in Iran and North Korea objections to nuke weapons or also objection to Iran's nuclear power program (which is legal and in accord with the UN IAEA). Does he desire for reducing nukes and being honest with nukes include the "secret," nuclear weapons of Israel that somehow always fail to get mentioned. Surprisingly firm, while committed to Israel's security he said the increase in Israel settlements was "illegitimate." - a rather firm statement and talked about the 1967 borders of Israel, and how Palestine needs a "contagious," free and real independent state. But none of these things would seem acceptable to Israel at all, their "peace terms," clearly sounding like "we go on with aggression and expansion," statements.

POPSIsrael Defies U.S. on Settlements Here's the latest response to the USA & EU request for a settlement freeze, ending of seizing Palestinian land, etc. 1. We will continue building our settlements. 2. We approved the building of more settlements a few days ago. 3. We'll think about slowing down construction in the future. 4. But if we do slow down construction it will only be a temporary gesture. 5. Also....the West Bank all really belongs to Israel. From now all we call them Judea and Samaria. 6. We're open to discuss how long we would slow down construction if we do "slow," construction at all. Humm...well, at least this position is very clear. It really has ALWAYS been the Israeli position but not so blantant -- at least now there is no "pretenses for peace."
