Why Obama Really Voted For Infanticide Andrew C. McCarthy
merrie
by merrie  Today 12:55 AM    1
SENATOR O’MALLEY: First of all, there is established, under this legislation, that a child born under such circumstances would receive all reasonable measures consistent with good medical practice, and that’s as defined, of course, by the … practice of medicine in the community where this would occur. It also requires, in two instances, that … an attending physician be brought in to assist and advise with respect to the issue of viability and, in particular, where … there’s a suspicion on behalf of the physician that the child … may be … the attending physician would make that determination as to whether that would be the case…. The other one is where the child is actually born alive … in which case, then, the physician would call as soon as practically possible for a second physician to come in and determine the viability. pdf file available at website: http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NzRhZTgzNmRlZWE0MTA1YTM4NWMxN2UxMjA5YjBkZTE=&w=MQ==

Hawaii’s 1st Jewish Governor: Palin More Experienced Than Obama
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 6:47 AM
“It’s not like being in Congress, where no one might know you’re responsible,” she told Haaretz. “When you’re a governor you’re the one to make a decision. It’s a great, great preparation for a job such as vice president.” According to Lingle, the Republican Party is likely to attract growing numbers of Jewish voters because “the Republicans have a much stronger position on Israel than the Democrats, and that’s why I think more people will be seen on the Republican side. Lingle was interviewed on the FOX programme and she noted that Palin spoke at an energy conference in Hawaii and impressed everyone with her knowledge of the issues. While there she went into labour and flew back to Alaska to have her baby and was back on the job shortly thereafter. "Senator McCain’s commitment to Israel is strong and well-known, and I assure your readers that he would not put someone on that ticket who did not have the same feelings."

Fluff vs. Facts: Fact-Checking Sarah Palin
blueridge
by blueridge  9-6-2008    3
What Sarah said during her RNC speech was VERY misleading. Conservatives especially should take note of her fiscal record on government spending before they jump up and down at their own Wonder Woman savior with her own stage-craft. Trust is established on proof, not mere presentation and rhetoric. Even conservative Michael Savage is going after Palin and McCain as mere show horses, while the masses of the seduced and ear-tickled of the conservative naive get swept away by a little known governor who knows how to play to an audience, of men in particular , whose scandals and real "ethics" and "family values" are just now coming to light . Republicans are being tricked the most--and not for the first time--McCain loves it! And about the Alaska plane that she put on Ebay...

by sillysam  9-6-2008    1
He understood the implications of Obama's passing over Hillary--not that Clinton voters would vote for McCain-Palin (though if even a few do so, it could make a difference), but that his pick of Palin when compared with Obama's shying away from Hillary would show McCain as a bolder and more confident leader. And he had the sense that Palin's anti-establishment conservatism, pro-family feminism, and tough-minded reformism would add something important to his campaign.

Poll: Half Say Palin Unqualified
Wisco
by Wisco  9-6-2008    2
Also of interest: The poll found that Obama benefited more from his selection of Biden than McCain did by picking Palin. While 25 percent said they were more likely to vote for McCain because he picked Palin, 19 percent said they were less likely to support his candidacy. A majority, 55 percent, said the choice won't affect their vote. By contrast, 22 percent of voters said Biden's selection for the Democratic ticket made them more likely to vote for Obama, while just 10 percent said they were less likely to support the Illinois senator's presidential candidacy. Again, a majority -- 67 percent -- said the choice won't matter in their vote. More evidence that Palin was a base shoring choice. She's not winning converts, just energizing those already on the right.

McCain acceptance speech: I WAS A POW
masbury

"And I have the scars to prove it. Senator Obama does not." How would he help poor people? "I will keep taxes low...My opponent will raise them." And then bemoans "partisan rancor." And the crowd breaks into a chant of "Drill, baby, drill!" This is a snow job if ever one has been foisted upon America. Give 'em answers that do nothing and make 'em feel patriotic about entropy.

Memo to President Obama 2010
ColoradoRight
by ColoradoRight  9-5-2008    1
Politically, we have not seen the benefits of a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. It seems that every Democratic Senator has decided that if you could become President they could too. Considering that they are all more qualified than you, all of them are now also running for President - with the exception of Senator Schumer, who seems to be running for the position of God. He believes that is his appropriate pay grade, since no one else has it.

Biden Lied over Crash that Killed Wife and Daughter
dl211
by dl211  9-4-2008    7
"The rumor about alcohol being involved by either party, especially the truck driver, is incorrect," said Jerome O. Herlihy, a Delaware Superior Court judge who was chief deputy attorney general and worked with crash investigators. The New York Times reported the 2007 crowd at the University of Iowa grew silent as Biden gave his version of what happened that day. "Let me tell you a little story," The newspaper quoted Biden as saying. "I got elected when I was 29, and I got elected November the 7th. And on Dec. 18 of that year, my wife and three kids were Christmas shopping for a Christmas tree. A tractor-trailer, a guy who allegedly -- and I never pursued it -- drank his lunch instead of eating his lunch, broadsided my family and killed my wife instantly, and killed my daughter instantly, and hospitalized my two sons, with what were thought to be at the time permanent, fundamental injuries."

Before the interview was arranged, Obama and his staff held a closed door meeting with Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes to discuss his network's media coverage of the presidential election. According to Ailes, Obama wanted to know if he would get a "fair shake" from Fox. Ailes told the Washington Post he replied, "Senator, you're the one who boycotted us. We're not the ones who boycotted you. Nor did we retaliate for your boycott."

FBI Wanted Obama Plotters Charged, But A Rove Appointee Said No
ratilfar
by ratilfar  9-4-2008    10
Cont.... Note the language used by Eid in dismissing the gravity of the case: the case isn't serious because they were "more aspirational, perhaps, than operational"? Well, when it was the Liberty Seven -- black Muslim men who were described by the FBI as "aspirational rather than operational" -- there was no hesitation by the Justice Department in bringing charges. Another funny thing: When a black man in prison sent a threatening letter containing baby powder to John McCain, Troy Eid brought down the full force of the law, complete with press conferences and public declarations that "We won't stand for threats of this kind in Colorado." But when it’s a claque of white men with rifles, disguises, and all the accoutrement of a conspiracy – as well as open admissions to it – Troy Eid isn’t worried. After all, they just a bunch of harmless, tweakers, right? … Just like little Timmy McVeigh.

Why McCain Picked Palin: Not Too Conservative
blueridge
by blueridge  9-3-2008    1
She was neither a Romney nor a Lieberman, and shored up his broken maverick image. "Conservative...but not an ideologue", per McCain's inner circle. Ms. Palin, and not Mr. Pawlenty or Mr. Romney, would reinforce Mr. McCain’s self-image, an adviser said. She had a reputation as a reformer in Alaska, she hunted and fished, and she had once belonged to a union. Just as crucial, Ms. Palin, 44, was beloved by the party’s religious base but did not come off as shrill. “She’s conservative,” Mr. Black said, “but she’s not an ideologue.”
