POPSHis Ultimate Indecent Behavior "However, in the public court of reasonable opinion, I think Larry Craig would be found guilty with forethought and conspiracy of multiple counts to commit hypocrisy. Unfortunately, this crime is not punished by any jail sentence or fine. Craig's punishment will have to be the resignation of his office and a return to, can I say, private life as a civilian where he will no doubt write a book describing the pain he's endured from the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune and his hounding from office by who, the Puritans of public decency, the very constituency he claimed to represent?"

POPSMost corrupt politicians 2007 To be fair, Rudy probably shouldn't be on the list since their primary reason for listing him was found to be false (news I am sure most never saw).

POPSThe New York Post Ain't Got No Klass! One again the Rupert Murdoch's New York Post finds a way to demonstrate its total lack of sensitivity to the gay community. Why anyone reads that trash sheet I do not understand, and yet it is very popular among New Yorker's, at least those living within the 5 boroughs of the city.

POPSDemocrats Cheer Republican stalwart homophobe decides to remain. I bet the Democrats are secretly clapping their hands in glee while the Repubs are gnashing their collective teeth and wondering what hair shirt they'll have to don next.

POPSLarry Craig's toilet new best attraction in St Paul Its good to know that his memory is becoming preserved as a "cheezy slice of americana"-tourist attraction. I have to say though - I can understand getting your picture taken with it once but the guy who's been there twice...?

POPSWhy he should fight Idaho's gone today, here tomorrow Senator Larry Craig wants to take back his resignation apparently because, after conferring with his family, he realizes that people will think that by resigning he'd be admitting that he is in fact...gasp...gay. Friends say Craig's a fighter so he's going to fight to keep his job. Melissa McEwan thinks he should fight, but he's fighting the wrong fight:

POPSReligous Creationists The author asks an interesting question. He also implies by his question a concern for the entanglement of religion and politics.

POPSIdaho’s Original Same-Sex Scandal More: Today, Boise is the urban center of a metro area with a half-million residents. Boise’s gay life, compared with that in San Francisco or even Portland, Ore., is quiet, but it is active enough to support a community center, a drag court, three gay bars and a monthly newspaper. The city even elected and re-elected a lesbian to the State Legislature in 2004 and 2006.

POPSSen. Larry Craig and the Forbidden Fruit You know, as I was reading the news, and, I admit, chuckling smugly, (sorry, but I have to have fun every now and then!) it occurred to me that our presumptions about this whole thing might be wrong... When it comes to these Homo/Homophones like Ted Haggard and Mark Foley just to name the most recently prominent ones, we normally take the somewhat Freudian view that these men are closeted homosexuals who repress their desire, which manifests itself in the form of an over-reaction, homophobia. But I wonder, couldn't it be the other way around? Could years of horror at homosexuality and crusading against gays breed in these men an insatiable curiosity? Now to be clear, I don't think that homophobia could make a person gay, but I certainly think it could make a person very very curious...

POPSCraig: "I am not gay..." Maybe. But you are definitely a neocon. It is not your gayness or lack thereof, it is your running on "family values," and as a Senator, you can pass laws on whatever you believe (or not) about these "values," thus making "better Americans" of us all; laws that the federal government is obviously above. You and your ilk think you know what is best for us, and so try to control our behavior. LEAVE US ALONE.

POPS"Welfarizing" the VA: the GOP attack on veterans' benefits An editorial from the Marine Corps League by Navy veteran Robert E. McNulty, explaining how the Bush administration has been systematically gutting the mission and funding of the VA by positioning it as a "bloated" welfare bureaucracy, cutting budgets and programs, claiming that the "core constituency" of the VA represents only "disabled and indigent" veterans (rather than all vets), raising enrollment fees for vets ... and, true to Bush administration form, firing officials who object.
