POPSJoe Biden: the worrying rise of Barack Obama’s Mr Wrong The real difficulty with Mr Biden, however, is his judgment. On all the big questions, he has been – to put it politely – on the wrong side of history. The problem is that Mr Obama may now be listening to Mr Biden. Having supposedly already settled on an Afghan strategy in March, he is giving a very public impression of Hamlet as he wrings his hands and conducts endless White House debates – with details leaked to the press – about what to do.

POPSObama to Meet High-Powered Aides for Afghan Review
were the top ranking civilian officials expected for a bracing session on a war some supporters fear could swamp Obama's presidency. War commander General Stanley McChrystal, who warned in a leaked report that the conflict could be lost within a year without more troops, was also due to to take part, either in person or by video link-up, the White House said. Other top military brass included were General David Petraeus who heads US central command, Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Director of National Intelligence Admiral Dennis Blair. CIA chief Leon Panetta was also due to take part, along with Richard Holbrooke, the US envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as the US ambassadors to Islamabad and Kabul. Obama warned after meeting NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Tuesday that the United States could not fight the battle in Afghanistan alone, in remarks apparently aimed at European partners.

POPSThe Clinton-Obama “feud” Growing?
The White House has played an active role in clearing the field for Gillibrand, who was appointed earlier this year to fill the seat vacated when Obama tapped Hillary Rodham Clinton to be his secretary of state. Obama asked Rep. Steve Israel not to challenge Gillibrand, a request he honored. Just days ago, Vice President Joe Biden called Maloney to discuss the race, a clear sign that the White House didn’t want a primary fight next year. The Clinton-Obama relationship has always been strained, ever since Obama overtook Hillary in her bid for a history and a return to the White House. Obama appointed her as Secretary of State for his own political needs, not out of any sense of expertise on Hillary’s part for diplomacy. It took her almost no time to demonstrate that herself, with unforced errors like proclaiming her complete bemusement on multi-party democracy and the “reset” button she presented Sergei Lavrov that was mistranslated " and not in Cyrillic script, eith

POPSKatie Couric’s Curveballs and Softballs Katie Couric won a journalism award recently, which blew me away until I realized who gave the award. The Norman Lear Center at USC, a left-wing funded org rooted deeply in Hollywood’s liberal psyche. She was ‘awarded’ for her hard-hitting questions to Alaska governor Sarah Palin during last years presidential election campaign. But where was she democratic VP candidate Joe Biden flubbed on his knowledge of US history? Granted this award does not carry the recognition and prestige of a Pulitzer, Chancellor Award or a DuPont Award, but to give such a lack luster, talking head and television faceplate like Katie Couric an ego boost by telling her she’s doing an award winning job of news reporting is simply setting her up for a fall. I mean seriously, Katie Couric won an award for reporting excellence?! The standards for journalism have truly fallen to new depths.

POPSDemocratic Junior Senator Kay Hagan Renounces Obama's Budget
Her decision to renounce some of the popular president's ideas comes as a striking contrast to her campaign last year, when she cozied to his mantra of change as North Carolina voters swept both into office. It underscores her eagerness to depart from the big-government plans of her party even as she tries to influence legislation as a backbencher in Washington's upper chamber. The Democratic lawmaker who took office on Capitol Hill just three months ago said she has been working with colleagues to cut the growth in non-defense spending from 12 percent in Obama's budget to 6 percent. Remember, folks—this is from a Democrat who used Obama's surging popularity to get into office; she's now distancing herself from him as much as she can within the party, and just after a little more than two months into Obama's Presidency. *William Harrison was replaced by John Tyler, the Joe Biden of his generation, who is generally referred to one of the worst Presidents in American history

POPSObama To Combat “Joe The Plumber” With Average Americans Of His Own ... and Joe Biden starts to knock him around, carping that no real plumber makes $250K. Biden calls Joe the Plumber "the 250 guy," with the plumber now mum on his income. He just says he would like to make that much. The plumber was quoted in the hometown Toledo Blade thusly about Obama's "spread the wealth" cutoff of $250K: "That's a pretty socialist comment. Two-fifty ($250,000) is his number now. When is it going to be one fifty ($150,000), when it's going to be one hundred ($100,000) ?" He's far from the first one to apply the term, of course. Google "socialist" and Obama. You'll be awash in hits. Recently actor Jon Voight wrote this: If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way. http://dallasmorningviewsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/10/joe-the-plumber-2.html

POPSObama Draws 60,000 in Ohio Early polls near the site were only scheduled to be open until 5 p.m., but Ohio Governor Ted Strickland told the crowd that he wanted so many people to show up that “at midnight tonight and at 2 a.m., tomorrow morning people will still be in line registering their votes for Barack Obama and Joe Biden.”

POPSIntimidating Those Who Don't Play Along !!! An honest, non-corrupted media would rally around WFTV – would push back in unison to make clear to Lightworker and his surrogates that this type of payback is unacceptable in response to nothing more than a few tough questions. The reporter wasn’t even all that aggressive. She asked her question, got an answer, and moved on… Personally, I’d have hammered on the Obama camps’ lies about Ayers and Wright and taxes and public financing and tax cuts and Rezko and his shady home deal and who his drug dealer was and…......................................................

POPSObama Thug Machine Punishes Florida TV Station I’ve often wondered why more “news” reporters don’t ask the tough questions about who and what Obama really is.What does he really believe? One reporter finally asked: The immediate reaction from the Obama Thug Machine was swift and harsh. The thugocracy canceled a planned interview with Joe Biden’s wife Jill saying: … Senator Biden’s wife is not running for elected office, and there are many other stations in the Orlando television market that would gladly conduct a respectful and factual interview with her.” … “This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election,” wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign. The Obama Thug Patrol will be going after her hard. Send her your support and encouragement: barbara.west@wftv.com

POPSWorld Calamity Guaranteed Where are the calls for this inept and unqualified candidate for the Vice Presidency to withdraw from the race? Oh yes - he is the Democrat isn't he? Of course he was supposed to appear in the Centennial State today but has mysteriously disappeared. Next sighting predictions?

POPSBiden to Supporters: "Gird Your Loins", For the Next President "It's Like Cleaning Augean Stables" I would agree. I would guess whether Obama or McCain is in office there has already been ample planning of the national level. I would say the line-up looks like this: 1. Iran due to Israel 2. Russia 3. Syria 4. Yemen 5. China due to Taiwan Not in that order, but those all are potentials. I would rather Obama be in office to handle diplomatically rather then McCain who would be looking to send more troops into battle or possibly worse.

POPSExactly, I Agree With Joe, Too ABC News’ Matthew Jaffe Reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., on Sunday guaranteed that if elected, Sen. Barack Obama., D-Ill., will be tested by an international crisis within his first six months in power and he will need supporters to stand by him as he makes tough, and possibly unpopular, decisions. “Mark my words,” the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. the presumptive vice-messiah’s comments at a Seattle fundraiser — he apparently didn’t realize that journalists were present — are very, very interesting. I think that Biden actually said more than a lot of people think he said: . . . . . . http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/pollak/39261

POPSPalin Must Condemn Hateful Obama Attacks.
VP Democratic candidate, Senator Joe Biden is confronting what he calls the "ugly," and "dangerous," recent Republican campaign rallies where members of the crowd are shouting out about Obama: "Treason!" and "Kill him!" Those are very appropriate words. Over the last week, here at Clipmarks, other forums, on radio, TV, in the newspapers and magazines there is a shocking virulent outburst of hate against Obama, trying to associate him with "domestic terrorism," and being a supporter of 'Islamofacsist," (the neocon propagada term the Republicans wave like a red flag). In this age of 24-hour media coverage there is the real possibility of such vocal and visible fascist-like hatred and attempts to distort elections and destroy opponents can succeed. It was done in the 2000 elections in the USA, which Al Gore won and Bush stole in Florida, with the help of a shouting mob. We have to not only stand strong against this, but fight back, word for word -- & Vote Obama, Please

POPSDumbing Down of the GOP Palin is an insult to our intelligence. Choosing her as someone who supposedly represents the American people is an insult.

POPS With a Wink and a Smile by Mark Steyn But, on Debate Night, the official Obama website was still boasting that he would meet Ahmadinejad “without preconditions”. “My friend John McCain voted 422 times against tax cuts for the middle classes. Let me repeat that so the American people are clear on this. My friend John McCain voted 673 times against tax cuts for the middle classes.” The problem was that it all sounded drearily senatorial. When Regular Joe Six-Pack Bluecollar Biden tried to match her on the Main Street cred, it rang slightly wacky. “Look,” he said, “All you have to do is go down Union Street with me in Wilmington or go to Katie’s Restaurant or walk into Home Depot with me, where I spend a lot of time.” As for Katie’s Restaurant, ah, I’m sure it was grand but apparently it closed in 1990. In the Diner of the Mind, the refills are endless and Senator Joe is sitting shootin’ the breeze over a cuppa joe with a couple other regular joes on adjoining stools while Betty-Jo...

POPSThe VP Debate
"When it came to domestic issues, Ms. Palin mainly relied on enthusiasm and humor, talking about hockey moms, soccer moms and Joe Sixpack almost as often as she used the word “maverick” to describe Mr. McCain or herself. But she offered virtually no detail — beyond the Republican mantra of tax cuts — for how she and Mr. McCain would address the financial crisis or help Americans avoid foreclosure or what programs they would cut because of the country’s disastrous fiscal problems. Ms. Palin’s primary tactic was simply to repeat the same thing over and over: John McCain is a maverick. So is she. To stay on that course, she had to indulge in some wildly circular logic: America does not want another Washington insider. They want Mr. McCain (who has been in Congress for nearly 26 years). Ms. Palin condemned Wall Street greed and said she and Mr. McCain would “demand” strict oversight. In virtually the next breath, she said government should “get out of the way” of American business."

POPSEarly Polling Gives VP Debate to Biden I was surprised to see the rate of conversion from undecided to decided. If 18% were persuaded by Biden and only 10% were by Palin, then Biden did almost twice as good a job as Palin. On the other hand, Palin seemed contrived and stuck on "perky," like a morning news weather reporter. We'll see how later polling goes.
