MYG | GOP snubbed on HC reform, surprised?
altaloman
by altaloman  Today 1:36 PM
Has anything really changed since the start of this process? Frankly, Democrats have been drafting and passing this legislation in a largely partisan process from the start. We should not be surprised at all. They won the 2009 elections and now they are riding that horse for as long and as hard as they can. Republicans would do the same if they had the opportunity. that's Washington! The 2010 elections will probably serve to correct the imbalance in the political system and send us back to Washington political gridlock and they may not be so bad. ___ http://google.twi.bz/gv ___ http://altacities.com

Obama's half-sister, Maya Soetoro, claimed Obama was born in Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, a testimony reported as fact by several news sources and the myth-busting site Snopes.com. Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu, Hawaii But after WND drew attention to a letter from the president declaring as his birthplace the Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu instead, news sources and websites jumped to scrub the Queens location and replace it with Kapi'olani. The Advertiser also reports Obama was born "at what at the time was known as the Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital." The White House, however, has thus far refused to verify which hospital the president claims as his birthplace or whether the letter – purportedly from President Obama claiming Kapi'olani – is, in fact, real.

Health Care Bill is Unconstitutional
mklosinski
by mklosinski  1-2-2010
"America's founders intended the federal government to have limited powers and that the states have an independent sovereign place in our system of government. The Obama/Reid/Pelosi legislation to take control of the American health-care system is the most sweeping and intrusive federal program ever devised. If the federal government can do this, then it can do anything, and the limits on government power that our liberty requires will be more myth than reality."

Conservatives Have To Get Their Act Together
merrie
by merrie  1-2-2010    3
Remember the 3 biggies we are battling in 2010 Republicans and other conservative groups must focus and find candidates that not only can compete and do well in debates and the media but who really do have integrity, a commitment to our constitution and courage to serve. Anyone can find a pretty person and great speaker. Every tyrant I can think of through out our last 100 years was a sensational PR wizard and speaker. America must put a wall of protection against Fundamentalist Islam It is high time America does more than ‘review’ homeland security and watch lists. We must boldly define the enemy as Fundamentalist Islam, taught here and throughout the world. Once we find the courage to declare publicly the truth about the enemy we must then decide vividly and in media to go after Islamic clerics, known Islamic training camps in the US, Islamic agencies that work against our country and Government, ID sleeper cells and their allies. The Despot of the North

Once again, Prime Minister Harper tries to shut down the parliamentary process because he doesn't feel that he has tyrannical control over the government. Questions are being asked about the Afghani prisoner abuses and the opposition parties are blocking his heavy-handed bills in Parliament, so he's going to stack the Senate with Conservatives (a process he vocally condemned early in his despotic reign) to give him absolute control over the government. That's not the Canadian way; that's taking a page out of Bush's fascist book. If Governor General Michael Jean approves a prorogue, there is going to be a huge outcry, and hopefully, hell to pay.

Republican U.S. Sens. Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint of South Carolina raised questions about the legislation, which they said was amended to win Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson's support. WHERE in the Constitution does it say:
mountainpalm
by mountainpalm  12-30-2009    2
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) said there is “no place in the Constitution” that grants Congress the authority to require that Americans purchase health insurance, as both the Senate and House health care bills do. She added that the health care bill recently passed by the Senate is a “trampling of individual rights.” Senator Hutchinson said: “There is no place in the Constitution that allows this trampling of individual rights, and I am going to make a point of order that it tramples on the 10th Amendment as well, the rights of states to regulate insurance. And, in my state, we have a self-insurance plan for state employees and teachers, and the federal government now has the right to intrude on that – and it’s not in the Constitution either.”

Arnold’s already looking for a bailout from Uncle Sam. They loved Porkulus, but it’s not going to help them now. "New York Democratic Gov. David Paterson and California GOP Gov. MYG | Nebraska's Sen. Ben Nelson
altaloman
by altaloman  12-30-2009
He made recent headlines for his deal making on health care reform, but will his legislative success spell doom with Nebraska voters? ___ In 1990, Ben Nelson entered the realm of Nebraska politics by running for Governor. He won the Democratic primary by only 42 votes and entered the governor’s office by besting incumbent Kay Orr by 4,000 votes. Nelson’s plan as Governor was to bridge the gaps between rural and urban areas " a “One Nebraska” " and create a “more efficient and effective state government.” These successes did not go unrecognized, for when Nelson was re-elected Governor in 1994, he attracted 74% of the vote, the largest margin of victory for a governor in half century. In 2000, Nelson ran for the U.S. Senate to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Senator Bob Kerrey. Nelson, a conservative Democrat, carried the day even as Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush won Nebraska with 62% of the vote. ___ http://senate.gov.twi.bz/h

John Birch | American Hero Murdered by Chinese Communists
MichaelEhline
by MichaelEhline  12-30-2009    1
Captain John Birch's death were deliberately covered up by the U.S. government. The reason for the cover-up did not become evident until some years later. On September 5, 1950, California Senator William Knowland announced on the floor of the Senate that the murder of John Birch had been deliberately covered up by communist sympathizers to conceal the true nature of Mao Tse-tung's "agrarian reformers" who were trying to oust Chiang Kai-shek's government. As Knowland charged on the floor of the Senate, had the truth about John Birch's death not been suppressed by our government, it is quite likely that America's official policy towards the Chinese communists and towards Chiang Kai-shek would have been significantly different. Perhaps the American betrayal of China to the communists might never have occurred. On such seemingly small events do the fates of men and nations so often hinge.

Will GOP Call to Repeal Health Care Bill?
dl211
by dl211  12-30-2009    1
Repealing the health care bill, however, would take more than winning back a few congressional seats. Just as the Republican minority in the Senate has stalled the current health care debate, a Democratic minority could do the same to any repeal measure unless Republicans were able to pull together at least a 60-vote majority. The GOP would also have to overcome the strong majority Democrats now have in the House. Even if they were to win both chambers back, President Obama could veto any repeal measure at least through 2012. "Anyone who thinks they'll be able to repeal ObamaCare is kidding themselves," Michael Cannon, director of health policy studies at the libertarian Cato Institute, told the Washington Independent. "If they want to stop it, they need to stop it now."

The impudent tyranny of Harry Reid
dl211

Note that the subsection at issue here concerns the regulatory power of the Independent Medicare Independent Advisory Board to "reduce the per capita rate of growth in Medicare spending." That is precisely the kind of open-ended grant of regulatory power that effectively establishes the IMAB as the ultimate arbiter of the cost, quality and quantity of health care to be made available to the American people. And Reid wants the decisions of this group of unelected federal bureaucrats to be untouchable for all time.
