POPSConsciousness Is Not a Thing Review of 'Operational Consciousness'. Noble, H.(2005) by clipper Pat Parslow. Pat's stuff has introduced me to some specific research and theory on consciousness, AI, learning, symbolic representation etc. I guess he is an academic, I'm not. But I rely on academics to do the spade work (wahey!), Also, specifically, it seems to me there is amazing opportunity for this relatively specialised stuff to crosscut fields relating to cognitive and evolutionary psychology, semiotics and my own major interest at the moment - the place of brain mapping of visceral body states as the function of conscious feeling in an undifferentiated 'mind'body-other' continuum. I should add that it also has direct relevance to teaching and learning, is pragmatically textured.

POPSThree inspirations for brand ideas The answer to the question "how do we want to make people feel' is all important when developing ideas that get a true emotional reaction. Dirt is Good and Dove were very strong on emotional engagement. Vodaphone is not.Cultural Change, Company Vision and Emotional Engagement are the triangulation points of an idea.

POPSHow to win wars against guerillas If we were smart, this is how we would prosecute our war in Iraq and Afghanistan with all our troops. This is the only way that a guerrilla war can be won. Guerrilla wars, which is what these are, are won by winning the hearts and minds of the population. Mao proved it, Vietnam proved it, and it is being proved in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why we don't recognize it, except sporadically as a "risky strategy," is beyond me.
