What will be the next big thing in online search?
ronhuxley
by ronhuxley  12-6-2009
Google, of course, believes you need to belong to googles many products and services. They are probably right but that doesn't mean I like this monopoly. It also doesn't mean I won't do it :) Listen and read googles predictions for future of search... Get more great social media info at http://socialmediatools.info

Being Human and Language
DGNUK
by DGNUK  2-9-2009    4
I wonder what Heidegger would have had to say about Google or the World Wide Web? Speaking for myself, I have always believed that Language cannot fully encompass our experience. Some of the pivotal moments in life seem beyond words. My Father died nearly seven years ago and I still cannot put into words what it means to me. I don't believe I ever will. Consequently, the all encompassing semantic/lexical web of language will never encapsulate it.. My experience of 'the One' or 'Allah' or 'God' - choose your own label - is the same. It cannot be articulated. Maybe that is why we need the 'Word of God'

Google Reigns Supreme
socialexpert
by socialexpert  10-11-2008
The media offers the momentum, while many web users watch the search engine war with anticipation, keeping faith that somehow, one of the new kids will prove Google-worthy. While at first sight these entities look promising, deeper scrutiny reveals their inferiority to Google.

Why a Semantic Web Will Be Smarter, Faster & All-Around Better
Silkweaver
by Silkweaver  7-7-2008    1
In order to take it to the next level, and move from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0—the information in documents will have to be turned into data that machines can read and evaluate autonomously. Only then will computers be able to take over tasks we now have to do ourselves, such as find the nearest restaurant, book the best flight, or buy the cheapest video game.
