Failure Accompli
merrie
by merrie  8-24-2009    2
loyal Democrats a distant third. And it will prove that the Democratic Party is institutionally incapable of delivering on its most significant promises. You have to assume that on some level Congress understands this " which is why you also have to assume that some kind of legislation will eventually pass. If it doesn’t, President Obama will have been defeated. But it’s the party, not the president, that will have failed. OK, I get the point. He’s damning Obama with the faint praise due a cipher while mocking the Dems’ inability to govern. As he says, health care is their signature issue. And as we’ve observed previously, they have trouble advancing anything they feel deeply about that doesn’t involve a lot of pork. But cipher or not, Obama is also the president of a one-party government, and if his party can’t govern, he doesn’t get off that easy. He still gets to be a failure and is the one who will ultimately wear it.

American flag forced down because someone "found her flag offensive"
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  5-27-2009    1
Political correctness. Can anyone say anything good about political correctness? We sellout our own convictions trying to please everyone. Haven’t we learned that if you try to please everyone you end up pleasing no one.? “Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.” Reportedly from a contest entry at Texas A&M (unconfirmed). The person who took this flag down should be slapped around and forced to explain her actions to every veteran of every war. Not politically correct but its the right thing to do.

E-Verify Citizenship Requirement For Stimulus Cash Blocked By Sellouts
merrie
by merrie  5-25-2009    3
The provision is not included in the Sellout Substitute Amendment forged by the Turncoat Caucus and the Democrats. GOP Sen. Jeff Sessions and Democrat Sen. Ben Nelson attempted several times to bring their bipartisan amendment to the floor last week. SA 239 would require local governments and businesses that receive porkulus money to use the federal E-Verify citizenship check system. On the House side, a long term extension of the E-Verify program passed there 407-2 (Conservative Oasis). But Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid refused to allow it to come to the floor. Now, we’re headed for cloture. “While it is difficult to believe that Senate leaders might insist that illegal aliens have the same chance at new stimulus jobs as unemployed Americans, this scenario may now be at hand,” says Roy Beck of Numbers USA. “SA 239 is now unlikely to receive a floor vote.”

Frankfurt School Reigns Supreme at Notre Dame
merrie
by merrie  5-19-2009    6
Hours of conversation, study, and prayer with my peers in ministry taught me that we want the Catholic community to lead the work of creating a just society," says Claire Noonan. The Program Organizer for Social Justice and Next Generation at Call to Action in Chicago, she creates educational programs and sustained action campaigns focusing on sweatshop labor. Oh, brother, there's that word "Chicago" again. Now, in my mind "social justice" has always been a codeword for Marxism, or in this case, the ecclesiastical equivalent, "Liberation Theology." Of course many Jesuits have been unfortunately drawn into that false ministry. But where is any reference to Catholic, or even biblical teachings? The Jesuit School at Berkeley is a member of the Graduate Theological Union, which has many ties to the Frankfurt School. Jenkins also attended Oxford University, and Oxford has also been penetrated by the Frankfurt philosophy.

"Gird Your Loins" ~ We Are All Socialists Now
merrie
by merrie  2-8-2009    1
Bottom line: Global Warming, Government Healthcare, Teachers Unions, School Building Contractors, Subsidized Housing, and MASSIVE Pork. Thanks, Turncoat Caucus. Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis America waits with bated breath while Washington struggles to bring the U.S. economy back from the brink of disaster. But many of those same politicians caused the crisis, and if left to their own devices will do so again. The Cloward-Piven Strategy of Orchestrated Crisis In an earlier post, I noted the liberal record of unmitigated legislative disasters, the latest of which is now being played out in the financial markets before our eyes. Can a group of smart people, studying issue after issue for years on end, not come up with a single policy that works? Why are they chronically incapable? Why? One of two things must be true. Either the Democrats are unfathomable idiots, who ignorantly pursue ever more destructive policies

Why conservatism's traditionalists are so mean
masbury
by masbury  11-13-2008
First paragraph is from David Brooks, who laments that traditionalists may well take over the GOP; balance is for Ed Kilgore, who observes that they have come to believe their own militant mythology, and have become impervious to contrasting information. Both agree that this - while ugly - could seal the fate of the GOP.

He is part of the American aristocracy with nothing but contempt for the American worker. Don't he fooled by a smile and a pat on the back "my friends" because you'll find a knife in your back as soon as he gets what he wants. Joe the Plumber was make up by John the bullshitter

The bailout is a sham favoring foreign investors
spirithiker
by spirithiker  10-4-2008
There isn't any provision to prevent Secretary Paulson from defining any other financial asset as "promoting financial market stability", and while he must notify Congress, they cannot block his purchase. Why is the cut off date for mortgages to be helped so far in the past? March 14, 2008 seems a bit arbitrary to me.

Make your own fonts!
Babe_ORiley
by Babe_ORiley  6-26-2008    1
Charles Andermack, a font designer who works under the nom de lettres Chank Diesel, likes to brag that one of his custom fonts has been sitting at the top of the New York Times best-seller list. He created Truck King, the font used to typeset “Jon Scieszka’s Trucktown Smash! Crash!” an illustrated book about trucks. Mr. Andermack’s design firm, Chank Fonts (chank.com), builds custom fonts for advertisers, book designers or corporations looking to capture a special look or style. While Mr. Andermack’s fees can run into the tens of thousands of dollars for full families of fonts with all the diacritical marks and permutations, he can turn anyone’s handwriting into a font for $200. These custom fonts, also available from other sites like vletter.com, are popular not only with scrapbookers but also with professionals like real estate agents who want to add a personal touch to their letters.

Hope for Klamath River? Maybe
papananook
by papananook  1-17-2008
Two environmental groups and a Northern California tribe balked at the blueprint, calling it a Bush administration sellout to agribusiness allies. Clifford Lyle Marshall, chairman of the holdout Hoopa Valley Tribe, said the proposal favors farmers over the river's fish and labeled it "an Old West irrigation deal: guarantees for irrigators, empty promises for the Indians." "The ironic thing is there's not even dam removal in this dam-removal deal," said Bob Hunter of WaterWatch of Oregon, one of the two dissenting environmental groups, both of which were excluded from the negotiations last year. "It seems they released it now because time is running out for the Bush administration to deliver to its political allies in the Klamath farm community."

We are entering the age of corporate totalitarianism. American companies are now global companies and American sovereignty is secondary to the wishes of the global capitalist. I'm as big a capitalist as anyone, but tyranny can come from any faction. The mainstream of America is being ripped by forces at both ends - Cultural Marxists on one end and corporate totalitarianism on the other.

RFK. Jr. Endorses Clinton--Damn!
papananook
by papananook  12-4-2007
Hirschorn continues: Here is my take: Hillary Clinton represents the worst of the Democratic contenders. She is totally committed to take all the corporate money she can get. She really is a hawk when it comes to the Iraq war and even voted the wrong way recently when it comes to Iran. She is incredibly dishonest and phony. The reason why there are millions of Hillary haters is that she inspires distrust. A Hillary presidency would pursue corporate globalization and the terrible trade policies of her husband that has done so much to destroy America’s middle class. Her views on universal health coverage do not seem focused on getting rid of all the insurance industry involvement. Kennedy’s endorsement of Hillary just shows how the status quo political establishment can rig the system to get what it wants. What has Bobby been promised? Head of the US EPA? Support for replacing Hillary in the Senate? Who knows? But his endorsement stinks and puts a big blemish on his credibility
