The new China Central Television headquarters building is seen in Beijing Thursday July 17, 2008. The building consists of two angled towers connected at the top to form a continuous loop of horizontal and vertical sections. The spectacular 230 meter (755 foot) building, one of Beijing's tallest, will house more than 10,000 staff. The building is one of a series of landmarks, notable for their futuristic design, that will greet visitors to the Olympics Games, which open Aug. 8.

The Seven Sweetest Fictional Theme Parks Pt 1 (#7 - #5)
revenantdm
by revenantdm  7-22-2008
Cartmanland, Horrorland from Goosebumps, and the Granddaddy of all fictional theme parks: Westworld! Part 2 gets better with Wally World, Thrill World, Itchy and Scratchy Land, and I am not going to tell you what Number One is.... Not even a hint.... I personally love theme parks and have been to some of the best: Disneyland, Six Flags, Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm, Raging Waters, California Adventure, Busch Gardens, Universal Studios California, Palisades Park, and Astroworld... and the biggest of them all - Las Vegas! But if you like sci-fi or adventure thrillers pick up Dream Park by Larry Niven and Steven Barnes (or the 4 or so sequels), Utopia by Lincoln Childs, or Futureworld by Phillip J. Farmer. You will love them!

Tali99
by Tali99  7-16-2008
Movie posters are one of the most diversified genre there is. From photography, to realistic illustration, to the expressive and dramatic- Show biz has got it all! Of course, I’m a sucker for it’s pinups- the classic and the contemporary.

Iran Resolution must Change - Wexler
Kelika
by Kelika  7-11-2008    2
"The language that is most disconcerting in the resolution is the third resolved clause, which demands that the president initiate among several things an "international effort to impose stringent inspection requirements on all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains, and cargo entering or departing Iran." I firmly believe it was not the intention of the authors of this resolution to open the door to a US blockade or armed conflict with Iran. However, I fully understand and share the American public's mistrust of President Bush and his administration, which has abused its executive powers, willfully misled this nation into a disastrous war in Iraq and disturbingly continues to beat the Iran war drum."

Lawless Israeli Government is Breaking International Law
klippety
by klippety  7-10-2008
The Sage continues as Israel defies all international attempts to stop the suppression of Palestinians. Israels arrogance and power continues to be at the heart of all conflicts in the Middle-East. No peace will be achieved, until Israel will comply with international laws. The US invaded Iraq because of defiances of international law. What should Israel contribute to peace? Perhaps the arrogance is going so far, that the " chosen people" of Israel need not heed the international community, propped up by weapons of mass destruction supplied by US.

Print Book Sales Down, Ebook Sales Up
floridapublisher
by floridapublisher  7-1-2008
A sign of things to come, preferences aside. I sell both print and ebooks and just like the majority of my customers, I prefer the print format. However, when e-readers are more affordable and functional, I am pretty certain things will change. Additionally, every generation is increasingly computer literate, which will lead to greater sales of ebooks. I am currently educating myself in the creation and marketing of of dynamic ebooks so that I can be up to speed in the publishing field. If you have an interest in writing an ebook, let me know! Also, I'll have a new website soon that will sell both ebooks and ereaders (some new ones are on the horizon that will be more reader-friendly). What's your opinion? Can you adapt? Would you just read books on your computer or prefer a light-weight reader such as the Kindle or similar?
