POPSH1N1 (Swine 'Flu) overhyped After an otherwise healthy 13-year-old boy died of a H1N1 infection, demand for the vaccine jump drastically after the heavy media attention what was given to a horribly tragic, but still singular death from H1N1. Clinics were forced to shut down due to lack of supplies, and people who really should have gotten the vaccine first (like young children, pregnant mothers and seniors) lost out. H1N1 Influenza is a mere fraction of the virility of normal seasonal 'flu, and has fewer serious cases and deaths than seasonal 'flu. The normal, sensible steps you take to avoid getting the 'flu every year will work as well for H1N1. Yes, it looks serious when the media focuses on individual deaths from H1N1, but such coverage is deceptive. A few hundred deaths, Canada-side from H1N1 is tragic, but seasonal 'flu will claim several thousand, as it does every year. Just keep some perspective. Be aware; be mindful, but don't be scared. Think sensibly.

POPSKids May Need Up To 4 Flu Shots This Fall I am still not convinced that flu shots actually work. While my kids have gotten them the last 2 years, I have not had them in 4 years and have not gotten the flu. I am more worry that the kids will have side effects from these shots this year since this quanity is crazy.

POPSUniversal Declaration of Resistance to Mandatory Vaccination The new vaccine is made with squalene oil as an adjuvant. According to Dr. Viera Scheibner, micropaleontologist and world renowned researcher in the field of vaccine effectiveness and danger, squalene "contributed to the cascade reactions known as Gulf War Syndrome. In 2002, a U.S. federal judge ruled that there was good cause to believe squalene to be harmful. He ordered the Pentagon to stop endorsing its use. Here is the link to the Universal Declaration of Resistance to Mandatory Vaccination website: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/a-universal-declaration-of-resistance-to-mandatory-vaccinations There you can sign a petition targeted for the World Health Organization stating you do not recognize the authority of the WHO to mandate general forced vaccinations. With this petition you are able to stake a claim to the sovereignty of your body and stand up for exclusive self-determination.

POPSOhio man arrested for mowing unkempt grass at park Man tries to help out the city by going beyond his civic duty and gets arrested. There is something very wrong about this situation. Aren't we trying to get more people involved in community affairs? These cops should be thankful the city isn't loaning them out to the parks department to mow the grass and pick up trash.

POPSHilda Solis Reviews Project Using Mexican "Guest" Workers Instead Of Union Workers They also provide this Solis quote from a meeting she conducted with the AFL-CIO: We are going to have to take a look at it and, hopefully, work closely with Napolitano to see how we better focus so that these things don’t happen and that we avoid them . There were before I came into my position visas that were permitted under the Bush administration that we will take a very, very close look at and a very keen eye go through. But, rest assured, we will take a strong view on that.

POPSVisitors tour Vic farms ahead of Workers Pilot scheme Seasonal work has lost any attraction to Australian workers. Done it twice and it is hard work. Also means being separated from family and wages are not very attractive. Will be interesting if this recession bites much further into unemployment.

POPSTeeth Gritted It hurts us so much in the rural areas. We have to drive everywhere. I drive about 32 miles a day to work alone. There is no way I can ride a bicycle that length of miles, and there is no good public transport here. Of course I could buy a motorcycle but that's only good for a small seasonal portion of the year. I have noticed that elderly people just aren't driving and the cost of groceries is just as hurtful.

POPSWar Funding Bill Jettisons Immigrant Labor Work Permits The bill before the Senate would add more than $28 billion to Bush's budget request for this year and next, with almost $50 billion more after those two years for a big expansion of veterans benefits under the GI Bill from 2010-2018. Reid faces enormous procedural headaches in getting the war funding bill - and its various add-ons - passed this week. Democrats have divided the war funding bill into two components: non-war add-ons and Iraq funding-policy restrictions. Reid has signaled he wants the non-war extras to get a vote before the war funding itself, but it's a high-wire strategy. The new GI Bill and Democratic priorities like extending unemployment benefits are among the big-ticket add-ons, both of which have drawn veto threats. There's also $50 million to track down child predators, $400 million to help rural schools and $350 million to fight Western wildfires, just for starters.

POPSStorm Subsides Between William Gray, CSU The dean of CSU's College of Engineering, which oversees atmospheric sciences, said she spoke with Gray about terminating media support for his forecasts solely because of the strain it placed on the college's lone media staffer. "It really has nothing to do with his stand on global warming," said the dean, Sandra Woods. "He's a great faculty member."

POPSAnthropogenic Global Warming Critic loses funding Now an emeritus professor, Gray declined to comment on the university's possible termination of promotional support. But a memo he wrote last year, after CSU officials informed him that media relations would no longer promote his forecasts after 2008, reveals his views: "This is obviously a flimsy excuse and seems to me to be a cover for the Department's capitulation to the desires of some (in their own interest) who want to reign (sic) in my global warming and global warming-hurricane criticisms," Gray wrote to Dick Johnson, head of CSU's Department of Atmospheric Sciences, and others.

POPSRomney favours Visas for seasonal Workers
Employers who hire illegal immigrants will face stiffer penalties. Doesn't seem to stop them at the moment. They can hire from an established immigrant 'underground,' where illegal immigrants have established support networks amongst themselves, and are prepared to accept the minimal wages by virtue of their status. How much will the immigrants with working visas be paid. The 'value' of illegal immigrants is not through their numbers, but through the ability to get someone to do dirty jobs, on low wages, with the threat of exposure, and deportation. A visa is missing the point. It's also a means of getting workers at relatively low wages, that are registered, with the obligation to be repatriated when they were not needed. How many American Workers are prepared to work Three Months a year ? More Red tape. Romney happens to be a Republican, but while parties and politicians have different policies, they all act with remarkable detachment from the reality of the people
