Japan declares war in the Antarctic, sink whale-killing protest ship
uberkiwi
by uberkiwi  Today 12:25 AM
The Japanese have been hunting whales in a protected wild-life sanctuary for years, and every year the opposition gets bigger. Both sides play tough, but the sides are not evenly matched. What's annoying is that the Japanese pretend that the hunting and killing of whales is for "scientific" purposes.

Big Bang Theory Refuted
JICWyllie
by JICWyllie  1-3-2010    4
Finally! The universe is not tiny bits of matter going away from each other from a starting point at the beginning of time. The "electric universe" is an entity connected by electro-magnetic plasmas that has been around forever. A really convincing argument. I always suspected the Einstein and the cosmologists he spawned were 'barking', but I could never prove it. Now I can. And if the universe works in a sea of electro magnetic plasma energy, then so must we. Part of a larger trend: From Objects to Relationship.

San Francisco's Sea Lions - Disappear as Mysteriously as They Appeared
celestialdancer
by celestialdancer  12-30-2009
"Jeff Boehm of the Marine Mammal Center said the sea lions probably left in pursuit of a food source, the same reason they would’ve come to Pier 39 in the first place. But Boehm said the fact that so many sea lions stayed for so long is even stranger than their disappearance . That is, sea lions tend to travel far and wide rather than sticking it out in one place for so long."

Re: Kelika's Clip-Stealth boat Ady Gil
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  12-27-2009    2
Intriguing clip by Kelika led me to do a little research. More from the article below: "Now the newly-renamed vessel has been unveiled as the Sea Shepherd's new weapon in the organisation's sixth campaign against whaling, Operation Waltzing Mathilda, which will launch from Australia early next month. The craft, which is capable of up to 50 knots, will be used to intercept and physically block harpoon ships from illegally slaughtering whales. The Ady Gil and the Steve Irwin are the two remaining ships in the Sea Shepherd Society’s fleet. A third vessel – the Farley Mowat – was sent to protest against Canadian seal hunting last year and was seized by offiicials."
