POPSScozzafava endorses Owens Well, well, well. And to think, the GOP Party thought she was worth endorsing. Thank you Mrs. Palin (and others) for exposing another Republican (conservative) in name only. I wonder if this is the new Democrat strategy....get their people to run as Republicans. And we're so asleep and/or complacent that conservatives just trust the R after their names. (sigh)

POPSSenate Panel Foils Public Preview of Health Bill
Moreover, two Democrats, Sens. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia and Charles Schumer of New York, are seeking to add a public insurance option to the bill. Such a plan is favored by many liberals but was substituted with nonprofit insurance cooperatives in the bill. The committee opened its second day of work on the bill after a clash over costs on Tuesday. Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa and other Republicans want to change the bill's mandate for individuals to have health insurance, which they say would be a burden on some people. Baucus altered parts of the bill on Tuesday in a bid to gain support from both sides. Key changes included cutting the maximum penalty for families that don't get health insurance, to $1,900 from $3,800 a year. Health-care economist Len Nichols of the New America Foundation said he thinks Snowe's trigger amendment may help get some other Republicans on board with the broader bill. But at least one Republican leader criticized the idea.

POPSLaw Enforcement Agents Raid Part of Terrorism Probe
Navy Seals Kill Wanted Terrorist in Somali Raid Monday, September 14, 2009 Navy Seals from US Special Operations Forces conducted a raid in southern Somalia on Monday that killed Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, one of 4 co-conspirators wanted in the 2002 bombing of an Israel owned hotel in Mombasa, Kenya, two senior U.S. military officials told Fox News. Ten days ago President Obama signed the Execute Order for Nabhan, who since 2006 was on the FBI's list of most wanted terrorists. He was also wanted for the attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Kenya in 1998. They called it operation Celestial Balance: at least two AH-6 Little Bird helicopters deployed from one of two U.S. Navy vessels near Somalia's coast strafed a vehicle Nabhan was using to go back and forth between meetings. Intelligence operatives had been monitoring Sabhan prior to the attack. The helicopters passed once, firing on the vehicle, and then circled back around to retrieve the body so they could . . .

POPSThere is A Blizzard in Hell Tonight! Dems Vote To Ban ACORN Funds!
Gregg did not surprise me. Hutchinson thinks she can be governor of Texas with missing such a big vote? Old unreliable McCain is sitting this vote out too. Michelle Malkin details McCain’s ACORN coziness Vitter is in LA and that is ACORN country so no surprise here either. I lope Louisiana doesn’t lift a finger to send Vitter back to the Senate! POPSBritish Patients Sue Over 33% Failure Rate for Operations Government health care is not moral Greg Knapp OpEd Contributor August 27, 2009 If you are against the government taking an even greater role in our health care system, you are immoral. At least that's what President Barack Obama is trying to tell us. During a teleconference with liberal religious leaders Obama said, "You know this debate over health care goes to the heart of who we are in America. ... It is a core ethical and moral obligation that we look after each other. In the wealthiest nation on earth, we are neglecting to live up to that call." The president went on to say, "We are God's partners in matters of life and death," and the people saying the plan will eventually lead to a single payer system and rationed care are "bearing false witness." It's a good thing George W. Bush never said something like that. Nancy Pelosi's head would have exploded.

POPS Obama and The Union Thugs In St. Louis, Democratic Representative Russ Carnahan held a town hall meeting. In attendance at this meeting were members of the union S.E.I.U, Service Employees International Union. They were not wearing brown shirts, but wore purple t-shirts with their union logo on the shirts. After the meeting outside was a gentleman named Kenneth Gladney. Mr. Gladney was giving out or selling little yellow flags from the American Revolution, which pictured a snake with the words, "Do not tread on me." The union thugs engaged Mr. Gladney, a conservative in a heated dialog. During which a union thug punched Mr. Gladney in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, giving a union member the opportunity to kick Mr. Gladney while on the ground. Mr. Gladney had to be taken to the hospital as a result of this vicious beating from these brown shirt type thugs. Could you just see Hitler smiling? Mr. Gladney was interviewed by Neil Cavuto, and related the following in part:

POPSWhite House Public Option Ploy: A Trial Balloon, Not a White Flag Do you believe the Sunday spin on the White House’s alleged “retreat” from the Obamacare public option? Video of HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’s pooh-poohing of the public option provision is here. Drudge illustrated the AP story with a white flag. Politico says the White House has “backed away.” I’m not buying the hype. Are you? Late Sunday, the health care czar’s office said Sebelius “misspoke.” It’s not a misstatement. It’s not a surrender flag. It’s a trial balloon to measure the potential nutroots backlash versus the potential Senate pick-ups. Besides, the public option provision can always be stuffed back in via a 3am manager’s amendment or during the House/Senate conference to reconcile each chamber’s Obamacare bills. As for Democrat Sen. Kent Conrad’s health care “co-op” idea, the devil " as always " is in the details. Distrust and verify.

POPSHate Crime Legislation: A Shocking Disregard for Federalism
This claim ignores the fact that 45 states have their own hate crime laws and that violence against others is universally unlawful and routinely prosecuted. It also disregards the fact that general police powers belong to the states, not to the federal government. Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) then makes a brief appearance (89 minute mark) to slander opponents of the legislation - how could anyone oppose legislation with such a noble goal? He claims that this is tantamount to saying that it is acceptable to harm people because you do not like who they are. Don’t expect the application of this legislation to be the rare and exceptional prosecution that Attorney General Holder promises in his testimony. Janet Cohen testified that her upbringing in a racially divided America decades ago justifies passage of this law. She also proposes that prosecutions with the new law will be “wise” on account of Holder’s “brilliance and integrity.”

POPS0bama Wants To Be as Vague as Possible About Health Care Reform
On Captol Hill today, Sen. Charles Schumer, D-NY, told reporters that this was news. "I had never heard that they were for the trigger," he said. "That came as a surprise to me. Maybe in year three there might be a public plan? Not good enough." This afternoon, MoveOn sent out an email to its more than 3 million members saying that "Emanuel signaled support for a 'trigger' provision -- a proposal that would undermine the public option, and put off real reform for years." MoveOn said that according to The Huffington Post, "Emanuel has been floating the idea of a trigger since January. Right now, when key committees are finalizing health care legislation, Emanuel's remarks will only embolden conservative opponents of reform. He should be standing with the majority of Americans for a strong public health insurance option -- not disastrous half-measures. Seemingly out of the blue, the White House sent out a paper statement from the president, who is in Moscow.

POPSEnsign back in D.C.; group plans ethics complaint In yet another blow against ethics, Republican Sen. John Ensign returned to the capital today to handshakes from colleagues. What does this say of his colleagues? Do they condone his behavior? Senator John Ensign called for Bill Clinton and Larry Craig to resign over sexual misconduct, and then cheated on his wife with a married staffer. This "defender of marriage" should have the dignity to resign now. But dignity is in short supply in politics. Therefore, it is business as usual in the nations capital. Does his affair mean we cannot trust him to speak for his constituents? If nothing else, it lessens his authority on ethics issues but we already know that any talk of ethics reform from politicians is nothing more than hot air. If you cannot live up to the vows you make to your spouse in front of God then how can you be trusted to live up to your promises to the people who put you in office? The 'ole boys club' ethics wins again.

POPS Now They're Delivering On Their Promises
get to positions of power. Because while you were paying your union dues and watching American Idol, they were rigging the system with ACORN and a news media that functions as nothing but a propaganda arm for the progressive state. They kept you sedated with Oprah telling you you could avoid aging by injecting estrogen into your vajayjay. Your brain had already turned into mush by the time the evening news was on, and you stared glassy-eyed at the screen while Katie Couric chirped about how everything bad was Bush’s fault. Worse yet, you believed them when they promised you free health care, free education for your kids, and free “green jobs” and they could pay for it all with other people’s money. And you went along with it, because you were so, so mad at George W. Bush because… because… because if you didn’t hate him, all your friends would think there was something wrong with you because everybody hated Bush except for stupid rednecks and Bible Thumpers . . . . . .

POPS Health Care Hits A Snag in the Senate
Now, a Medicare-like plan is highly unlikely, Senate aides say. White House officials also have signaled they are open to other approaches. Two other options are still on the table. One is to create a public insurance plan run by multiple regional third-party administrators. The other is to have states create their own insurance plans, possibly by allowing people to buy policies through the plans available to state employees. The idea is that state plans wouldn't have the clout that would enable a national plan to muscle out private insurers. Yet another option, proposed by Sen. Charles Schumer (D., N.Y.), is to create a public plan that pays for itself and adheres to private-insurance rules. If Senate Democrats and Republicans can't reach a compromise on the public plan, there are still several ways it could make its way into legislation. Although leading Democrats have said they want a bipartisan deal, they could use a tactic known as "reconciliation," . . . .

POPSDems Desperately Trying To Cut and Run From “Torture” Debate Now they’re trying to run away from the topic lest it get more press that they knew about “torture” and railed against it. Worse yet, if the press starts to look at who knew what/when…people might see that yeah, Democrats KNEW about pre-war intel on Iraq, and it wasn’t a case of Bushliedpeopledied (the timeline is 100% clear on this as are the bi-partisan investigations and reports). People might actually realize that Sen Rockefeller misled about a lack of WMD threat because he KNEW what was found. Sen Levin misled about regime ties to Al Queda because he’d been briefed too. POPSObama Orders Review Of New York City Air Force One Flyover
The flight by the VC-25, a modified Boeing Co. 747, and two F-16 fighter jets cost $328,835, Air Force spokeswoman Vicki Stein said. Three-Hour Mission That includes $300,658 for the larger plane, which flew a three-hour mission, and about $28,178 for the F-16 jets, which flew 1.8 hours each, Stein said in an e-mailed statement. Obama has directed Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina to review “how the decision was made to conduct the flight,” Gibbs said at the daily White House briefing. “Somewhere along the line, someone at the FAA should have had the foresight to realize that New Yorkers would see this stunt and think back to 9-11,” Schumer said. McCain, who ran against Obama in the 2008 presidential election, also said that the disruption and panic caused by the flight should have been foreseeable. He wrote that the apology and acceptance of responsibility from Louis Caldera, director of the White House Military Office, “rings hollow.”

POPSFAA Memo: Feds Knew NYC Flyover Would Cause Panic In a memo obtained by CBS 2 HD the Federal Aviation Administration's James Johnston said the agency was aware of "the possibility of public concern regarding DOD (Department of Defense) aircraft flying at low altitudes" in an around New York City. But they demanded total secrecy from the NYPD, the Secret Service, the FBI and even the mayor's office and threatened federal sanctions if the secret got out. The NYPD was so upset about the demand for secrecy that Police Commissioner Ray Kelly vowed never to follow such a directive again and he accused the feds of inciting fears of a 9/11 replay. The cost of the frivolous flight was about $60,000 an hour and that was just for Air Force One. That doesn't include the cost of the two F-16s that came along. The mayoral aide who neglected to tell Mayor Michael Bloomberg about it was reprimanded.
