Vintage Moonbattery: Copenhagen's A Battle To Humble And "Redefine Humanity"
merrie
by merrie  12-18-2009    1
So this isn't the place for rationality. It's the place to reverse the Industrial Revolution. You do have to read this entire self-caricature, though, because there's just so much I couldn't include. There's an entire section on how the people who disagree with him - the bullies who call him bad names - are angry because he's just too decent. Then there was a part about how we have to reign in "adventurers," which a cynical person might read as a pointed version of banal Blue State nannyism. "I'm too priggish to have fun so you're not allowed to have any either." The Guardian (http://bit.ly/691nUu)

Obama’s UN Gambit: King of the Universe and the Polls
merrie
by merrie  9-5-2009    2
While “non-proliferation” is mentioned, “disarmament” is not. Similarly, a UN Secretariat compilation “forecasting the Council’s program of work” for the month of September " based on prior activities and requests " lists non-proliferation specifically in relation to Iran and North Korea and does not list disarmament. But in light of Obama’s wishes, a tailor-made subheading will likely be adopted under the existing entry “maintenance of international peace and security.” The new item will insist on simultaneous consideration of nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament and make no mention of particular states. This is no trivial technicality. The linguistic formula, which Obama’s confrere Qaddafi will undoubtedly exploit, shamelessly panders to Arab and Muslim states. It is a familiar recipe for stonewalling efforts to prevent Iran or other Muslim and Arab states from acquiring nuclear weapons until Israel is disarmed or Israel’s (unofficial) nuclear

...as America's post-war hegemony began to erode internationally, and within the country white males were being challenged for their domestic dominance as well. These "Reagan Democrats" " i.e., consummately selfish pricks who were happy to take government largesse when it was helping to bring them into the middle class, but then immediately pulled the ladder up behind themselves afterwards, demanding tax cuts " began to lash out politically, responding to any line of crap that would harmonize with their embarrassing victimization trope by promising a feel-good response offering the muscular bludgeoning of women and dark people, both at home and abroad. In reality, of course, they were voting for a political movement that was talking tough-guy nationalism and scapegoating gays and other out-groups, but purely as a mask for further savaging the prosperity of these very idiot voters supporting their own undoing. In exchange for some cheap rhetoric and the occasional third-world war, they

More: So I was not surprised (it was just another day at the office) last week when a white woman from suburban Philadelphia called police from her cellphone, claiming she had been locked in the trunk of a Cadillac by two black men. Nor was I shocked (it was just another day in the life) when police said Bonnie Sweeten was actually holed up in a luxury hotel at Walt Disney World, and there never was a kidnapping, much less by two black men… University of Florida law professor Katheryn Russell-Brown, author of The Color of Crime, has documented 92 such incidents between 1987 and 2006. She cautions that white men are sometimes victims of racial hoaxes: witness the cases of Tawana Brawley and the Duke lacrosse team. But she says the overwhelming majority of the time -- 67 percent, to be exact -- it is the other way around: white liars blaming black men for things that did not happen

The Clever Manipulation of Projection and Paranoia
merrie
by merrie  5-5-2009    2
OBAMA AND THE NEO-MARXIST LEFT In order to achieve his collectivist agenda, Obama and the left need a scapegoat. Watch and see who is being scapegoated and you will understand what is now happening in this country. To maintain popular support, the dedicated socialist "needs voters to stay angry at designated class enemies. When all else fails, they will crank up the hate and the projection ; and "turn feral with frightening speed." Obama will attempt to preserve the illusion of private enterprise, even as he demonizes entrepreneurs and scapegoats them to avoid having the federal government accept its own role in the current economic crisis. Through the clever use of projection and paranoia; by scapegoating the productive and the wealthy, Obama's government will grow bigger and more powerful and never have to take responsibility for the worsening state of the economy. The necessary scapegoats are in place...let the show trials commence! via Dr.Zero's astute observation

(CALIFORNIA) Day of Decision on Proposition 8 California's battle over same-sex marriage went before the state's highest court, with civil rights lawyers seeking to overturn a voter-approved ban on gay weddings. Hundreds of supporters and opponents gathered outside the Supreme Court in San Francisco for the hearing, which came 10 months after the court legalized gay marriage in a landmark ruling last May. That ruling was cast into doubt last November when voters passed a change to California's constitution that redefined marriage in the state as a union between a man and a woman. Supporters of same-sex marriage are seeking to have the results of the referendum, known as Proposition 8, quashed on the grounds that minority rights should not be vulnerable to a simple majority vote. The stakes in California are high – a good decision would help fortify the LGBT community against what could be some very difficult years of economic strain and scapegoating. A bad decision woul

Talking Heads Resort To Repugnant Demagogic Attacks On Octuplets' Mother
GlennFrancoSimmons
by GlennFrancoSimmons  2-6-2009
Anyone in media making prejudicial and racist comments should be taken to task by other media, but don't expect that to happen. Why? Because media fail to do what the Society of Professional Journalists' (I belong to SPJ) Code of Ethics tells them to do: "Expose unethical practices of journalists and the news media." As American and foreign media carried sensational headlines, the lives of these babies were held in the balance, and only one talk-show host got it right, and that was Mike Gallagher, who said that each of those children is a gift from God and that we should be praying for those children. I would take his comment one step further: We should also pray for the mother and praise her for not aborting a single child.

Ignorance About Religion Leads To Stereotypes, Prejudicial Statements
GlennFrancoSimmons

When talking about religions, we must be careful not to lump together all people of a religion for the crimes of leadership and/or other self-professed co-religionists. To do so leads to prejudice and stereotypes, both of which are repugnant and intolerant.

Picking Winners and Losers Based on Their Ideas of Fairness
merrie
by merrie  1-10-2009    1
Emanuel -- on Obama's behalf, by the way -- might as well have stated: "We liberals are not the least bit concerned about the economy, not because it isn't every bit as bad as you've heard, but precisely because we believe it is. You see, we finally have a chance to implement our ideas on a grand scale. We've helped brew the perfect storm by imposing policies that largely led to the mortgage meltdown and scapegoating corporations for them, thereby demonizing and discrediting the free market to the point that full-blown government solutions are now plausible rather than political suicide. We are not sorry for our current predicament, but elated about it. In our view, the ends always justify the means, so what's a little widespread economic hardship en route to our grand vision for an America where we are in power and we get to pick winners and losers?

Mass Starvation And The Rest Of Us Will Be Cannibals," Turner said.
merrie
by merrie  12-29-2008
In April, media mogul Ted Turner told PBS's Charlie Rose that global warming would make the world 8 degrees hotter in 30 or 40 years. "Civilization will have broken down. The few people left will be living in a failed state, like Somalia or Sudan, and living conditions will be intolerable," he said. Turner blamed global warming on overpopulation, saying "too many people are using too much stuff." Crops won't grow and "most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals," Turner said.

The GOP's McCarthy gene
Kelika
by Kelika  11-30-2008
More - "Republicans continue to push the idea that this is a center-right country and that Americans have swooned for GOP anti-government posturing all these years, but the real electoral bait has been anger, recrimination and scapegoating. That's why John McCain kept describing Barack Obama as some sort of alien and why Palin, taking a page right out of the McCarthy playbook, kept pushing Obama's relationship with onetime radical William Ayers. And that is also why the Republican Party, despite the recent failure of McCarthyism, is likely to keep moving rightward, appeasing its more extreme elements and stoking their grievances for some time to come. There may be assorted intellectuals and ideologues in the party, maybe even a few centrists, but there is no longer an intellectual or even ideological wing. The party belongs to McCarthy and his heirs -- Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and Palin. It's in the genes."

I am by training a historian. My focus of study has been 20th century Europe and the rise of fascism. The "othering' taking place on the right and from the Republican candidates themselves is horrifying to behold. Who's to blame for the economic crisis? Barney Frank (faggot!), ACORN (niggers!), Barack Hussein Obama (half-breed Muslim!). I see it on the internet, I see it on TV, I see it in newspapers, I see it here on ClipMarks: race-baiting, fear-mongering, scapegoating. Enough! Not here! Not now! Not ever again! If I may quote Obama, "Not this time!

The media does all it can to hide these facts about crime. This certainly hinders law enforcement and diminishes people's good sense when it comes to crime avoidance, thus leading to more crime victims. Scapegoating the higher incarceration rates of blacks and Hispanics on whites also promotes hatred of whites and hate crimes against them.

Superstition is often the chief reason. This factor is strongly linked to the lack of medical care and awareness in rural areas. In absence of health care facilities, there is exploitation by ‘ojhas’ or witch doctors who profit from the villagers’ ignorance.
