Behind Bars the Drama Of Drew Peterson Continues...
Delilah1234
by Delilah1234  11-2-2009
It should be interesting as Will County prosecutors present facts during the trial while Peterson's defense team of chicken, hot sauce and thighs mixes an enlightening concoction of documents in an attempt to exclude hearsay testimony when the murder trail for Kathleen Savio begins.

Hiking Into History: England’s Ancient Ridgeway Trail
Lexica
by Lexica  10-31-2009
More: The full 87 miles of the official Ridgeway National Trail can easily be divided into shorter segments, depending on time available. It can be cut more or less in half, by deciding to walk only the older, original western section, which passes all the great prehistoric sites. Day hikes, and half-days centered on the Uffington White Horse, or Wayland’s Smithy, or the Avebury Stone Circles, can easily be devised by studying the map. The trail’s excellent Web site (www.nationaltrail.co.uk/ridgeway) is full of advice, and possibilities for accommodations and meals.

Popcorn balls
bignosemousie
by bignosemousie  10-27-2009
From the comments, I added one tsp. salt and 2 tsps. vanilla after the sugar mix came to a boil. Be careful because adding the vanilla will cause the sugar mixture to boil up and sputter. Also, I reduced the powdered sugar to 2 cups. It is plenty sweet. Also, keep the popcorn warm while making the sauce in a 200 degree F oven. I got 24 balls out of this and they taste FANTASTIC. Word from the comments is that the marshmallow keeps these from becoming rock hard like other popcorn balls. And, bonus, you do not need a candy thermometer. I will make again very soon. Easy and tasty.

Who Knew? Middle East Conflict Starts World Record Food Fight
nedhamson1
by nedhamson1  10-25-2009
I have tongue in cheek to get that last bit of hummus - grin. And here I thought the source of the conflict was over land and past wars. Who knew that you could probably settle conflict in the Middle East by promoting a reality TV show called Food Fight 2010. I can see it now: the Somalis, Sudanese, Ethiopeans fight over who makes the best tef-based bread or add the Kenyans and who makes the best bright coffee! But the ultimate game may be a toss up - sorry salad lovers - between who has the best: 1. Zatar. 2. Noodle 3. Bar-b-que sauce (We Americanss think we invented it but you know people bar-b-que all over the world. Really. Our version probably comes to us from Nigeria and Ghana - Get your red hot Suya sauce! Wars are serious and should be ended and I can't think of a better way to do it than to leave it to the world voting online for the best hummus. And actually, I like the cheese that the Spanish make from sheep's milk better than feta _ OMG! Did I really admi

Blue Duck Down
merrie

And we had a lovely dinner: a little fois gras, some roasted Maine Scallops with cauliflower and almonds & brown butter, oven roasted bone with paprika crust and country bread, sliced veal with white tuna sauce and roasted organic chicken with buttermilk and herbs. Everything was delish, but I think the O’s especially enjoyed gnawing on the oven roasted bones. Such a soul satisfying dish after a long week.

Picky Vicki Gourmet Barbecue Sauces & Rubs
TommysGuns
by TommysGuns  10-1-2009    1
For the past 5 years I have been purchasing my sauces and rubs from Picky Vicki's. They are one of the few places that offer gluten free, preservative free products. This is such a relief for people who are sensitive to food allergies. My favorite is the Xtra hot sauce, it's great on all kinds of meat.
