POPSJenny Sanford dishes dirt on Republican Sleazebag Husband Or -- my personal favorite -- the time he balked at accompanying pregnant Jenny to childbirth classes: "Mark joined me at one Lamaze class before deeming it a waste of his time since, as he explained, 'I've spent many long nights helping cows give birth and I know what to do when the baby gets stuck.' Mark leaves his 2-week-old baby to climb Mt. Rainier with friends, By the time Mark is in Congress, Jenny is reduced to instructing the scheduler to remind him of her birthday. And there is the touching moment when Mark has a friend pick out a diamond necklace for Jenny, has a staffer hide the present in her closet and faxes notes to Jenny and the boys cluing them in on where to search. A few weeks later, when Mark sees the necklace, he exclaims, "That is what I spent all that money on?! I hope you kept the box!'

POPSIt was as if we were being lectured on marital fidelity by John Edwards or Mark Sanford. Perhaps the most striking aspect of last night's speech, though, was that Obama spoke as if the last year hadn't happened; as if he had not been president; and as if Congress had not been controlled by Democrats. He sought to portray himself as an outsider and a reformer, an antidote to cynicism, and a post-partisan, unifying force. He wanted to cast himself as an idealist, an inspirational figure, Mr. Hope & Change.

POPSBuzz Up Article Brings Bigots Out In Droves
I've used Buzz Up but after realizing most of the people who comment, are non-thinking right-wing bigots, so I’ve shied away from it. I came across this article about Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer and his unspeakable remarks about poor people and how most Dems have railed against such distasteful bigotry. It made the Buzz Up-ers angry because they agree with the intolerant ARSE Bauer. Instead of counter commenting, I decided to flag it. Below my comment. The story wasn’t offensive per se; it reported on the bigotry in politics. The comments, on the other hand were so offensive, they made me ashamed to call myself an American. Why are right-wingers so hateful? I don’t use Buzz because it attracts bigots. Buzz has become a place where they can spew animosity towards anyone who doesn't resemble themselves in body or mind. They are proud to admit their ignorance and pat each other on their virtual backs in agreement. Thumbs up on hate and down on any contradiction to their idea of reality. :-?

POPSCandidate for SC governor: helping the poor is like "feeding stray animals" This is current SC Lt. Gov. André Bauer, who is campaigning for the Republican nomination for governor (to take over Mark Sanford's seat). His astute powers of observation have also revealed that "free and reduced lunch" schools correlate with low test scores. Stop the presses! News flash! Politician discovers that poor kids perform poorly on standardized tests! Who could have guessed it? Bauer's apparent solution to poverty: take away their free lunches, and these kids will suddenly start testing better.

POPSDefamation By Twitter I think this is just the beginning, folks. Celebrities tweeting bad attitude about a cookie diet, rappers tweeting while drunk, the sky's the limit in how idiotic this may become. Oh well, it keeps those in my profession chuckling - Enjoy!

POPSBaucus' Girlfriend Worked on His Divorce While on His Staff Are all men pigs...or just prominent politicians and sports heroes? (no!) But gosh, I'm so amazed by the blatant infidelity that is so rampant and people dare show their faces. It's so icky. At least Sanford's wife (while giving it time) has decided to divorce him. And Tiger is leaving golf to decide if his marriage is more important than his addiction. I still remember the Time Magazine cover of the 70s (I think). "What Ever Happened to Shame?"

POPSThe Rachel Maddow Show: U.S. Ties to Ugandan Anti-Gay Bill In a moment, we‘ll speak with Jeff Sharlet who has written extensively about the secret of Evangelical religious organization called The Family. We first started discussing The Family on this show when it emerged as a player in, not two, but three Republican sex scandals - those of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, Nevada Senator John Ensign and the alleged sex scandal involving former Mississippi Congressman Chip Pickering. Jeff Sharlet is now reporting that there aren‘t just ties between American Evangelical Rick Warren and the “kill the gays” bill in Uganda. He reports that, in fact, the president of Uganda and the legislator who introduced the “kill the gays” bill are more than just supported by American Evangelicals. They are both members of The Family.

POPSTrying to muster sympathy for the billionaires' shrinking assets More: Lawrence Katz, a labor economist at Harvard, sensibly points out that one could generate incentives to excel for less: “I don’t think the added incentive of earning $100 million over $50 million is very different than the incentive of making $10 million over $5 million,” he told me once.

POPSSo it's EXTORTION..no word about ADULTEROUS BEHAVIOR! Hmmm Hmmm Hmmm Well, it certainly could happen to a nicer guy. The increasingly irascible and decreasingly funny late night talk show host announced to his audience Tuesday night that he has been the victim of an extortion plot. It seems the sarcastic leftist has been a serial adulterer with members of his staff, reportedly all female ones. Looks like the caustic native Hoosier has been caught without his Worldwide Pants.

POPSThe Bad Medicine of the Republican Doctors Then there's Oklahoma Senator and unexpected Obama confidante Tom Coburn. As a Senate candidate in 2004, Dr. Coburn famously warned that "lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they'll only let one girl go to the bathroom." Upon his arrival in the Senate, the former obstetrician was elevated to the Judiciary Committee despite having advocated the death penalty for doctors who perform abortions. More recently, Coburn the C Street marriage counselor to John Ensign and Mark Sanford turned Deather:

POPSBill O'Rielly and Fox (News?) Screwing You? You Bet!
This dialog came from this site: http://letters.mobile.salon.com/opinion/feature/2009/06/29/family_values/view/index.html It says it all concerning conservative wingnuts such as Fox (You Call That News?)! Q: How many conservative wingnuts does it take to screw in a lightbulb? A: There will be no screwing ...unless their name is Craig, Vitter, Sanford, Foley or Ensign:eek: ...Perhaps (right) wingnuts should try being human... That's the core issue here, conservative policies are INHUMANE, war, plundered economy and constitutional rights, laws that let corp. scam artists run amok... (pro-choice hate mongering) If the question was asked ... what kind of policy do Americans support without context to politics, the majority of people's answers would be "liberal" and "moderate" on issues such as job security, regulations of financial institutions, universal health coverage, education and social security. F**k (Right) wingnuts...and I don't mean screw or sex.

POPSSC GOP reps to discuss impeaching philandering governor He needs to be impeached since he has refused to resign. It's sad that his fellow Party members have to do this. Now if only those in Washington would impeach those of more serious *crimes* such as fraud, tax evasion, conspiring with our enemies, unlawful use of taxpayers money, etc....

POPSIt’s-Okay-When-Democrats-Do-It Watch But I’m sure the massive corruption and abuse of power by officials throughout the Democrat Party pales in comparison to the horror that Mark Sanford had a girlfriend in Argentina. Local officials arrested in New Jersey corruption scandal According to a Wall Street Journal article, earlier this morning, the FBI raided through several New Jersey towns and arrested 30 people, including Hoboken and Secaucus mayors, rabbis, and other elected officials in a corruption case. This is said to be the biggest corruption sweep in the state's history. For years, New Jersey has experienced hundreds of related arrests involving political scandals and corruption. The people arrested were allegedly involved in the trafficking of body parts. A participating witness who knew of the illegal scheme stated that one of the people arrested was an organ dealer.

POPSI'm in this week's Spoonflower fabric contest! Mine is the purple spiral leopard pattern. As of right now, I'm totally bloody losing. Big surprise there! (sarcasm, well duh.) Winning is the so-very-not-great hedgie-somethingsomething pattern. Clearly, Smells_Fishy is the best pattern of the choices, and yet half the votes that the hedgie-nonsense has. What is wrong with most of these people voting?! I made my easily, without a lot of work, but Smells_Fishy obviously took some brains and yet it doesn't appear that it will win. I'm happy to say that I'm obviously out of touch with the people voting.

POPSSanford's use of state plane questioned Personal use of public property is called theft, right? This is also an ethics issue. Wasn't Sarah Palin busted and supposedly forced to pay back the cost of her misuse of government property? Government watchdogs said federal officials have to repay the cost of flying government planes for personal or campaign events and said they didn't know of a state that permitted planes to be used for such trips. State law requires the Aeronautics Division to collect and keep sworn statements from aircraft users certifying flights were for official business within 48 hours of flights. But the AP review raises questions about how South Carolina polices the use of its aircraft and reveals a system rife with shoddy record keeping and violations of laws that require the public be able to see documents. Oh, I see, this makes it easier to get away with it. Once again, if they are not watched closely, they will steal you blind.
