POPSA Painkiller With Big Risks In my line of work, I see many people addicted to methadone and I must confess that it is simply shocking to me that doctors addict these people so lightly. I don't mean to make light of the personal responsibility of the patient, but it just boggles my mind and it is so sad; sad beyond belief. I see 40 year olds that I know won't live another 10 years.

POPSSuch a sad story--arrests made. I cannot imagine the grief being experienced by those around this couple....but maybe this arrest will be a first step towards catching the heartless killers.

POPSSinger and Songwriter Legend Isaac Hayes Died Today He appeared in episodes of The A-Team and Miami Vice, though his acting wasn't limited to the small screen. Hayes also had roles in films such as Shaft (1971), Escape from New York (1981), I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988) and Johnny Mnemonic (1995). In a tragic twist of fate, Hayes most recently filmed a small role playing himself in the upcoming movie Soul Man, starring Bernie Mac, who died yesterday at the age of 50 from pneumonia. POPSMcCain's Latest Attack Ad: Obama Thinks He My Be "The One" McCain has reached a new low. Now he is suggesting that Obama believes he is a divine and messianic figure. Notice how he takes clips out of context and even skews Obama's statement "WE may by the oneS" as Obama claiming that he is "The One." McCain has achieved a new level of lying in a campaign. He has gone beyond the usual patriotism and red-baiting smears. Now he is suggesting that his opponent is committing sacrilege. What's next? Will he suggest that Obama is the anti-Christ? At this point, I wouldn't put it past him.

I don't watch Bill very much, once in a while I catch his shows and find him to be seriously funny, yet somehow also think he is sad and pathetic, since he seems to actually BELIEVE the crap he is saying. POPSNew Program Aids Homeless Vets, But Not Nearly Enough The shelter that housed the two homeless Vets, called "Soldier On", was mentioned in an article from the Boston Herald today. Veterans in the Boston area and across the nation are getting some much needed assistance in securing their own rental homes, thanks to a new federal program. Last week, housing authorities from Boston to Northampton began issuing 245 rental assistance vouchers to chronically homeless veterans. In the Boston area, 1,950 former service members are considered homeless. "With the new number of homeless vets that we are creating because of Iraq and Afghanistan, this is focusing on their needs," said U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano (D-Somerville), who will make a formal announcement Tuesday
