POPS Iowahawk Endorses thus, while his Congressional cohort was tripping on brown acid in the mud at Max Yasgur's farm, Mr. Hoffman was gearslamming down the quarter mile at Fulton Speedway. Yessirree bob, this photo tells me everything I need to know about Mr. Hoffman, and I enthusiastically give him my full support. As it turns out Mr. Hoffman still loves cars, and his family is still involved in the classic car restoration business. This, I have learned, is now the basis of attack ads from his Democrat and Republican foes in the race. Which tells me everything I need to know about them .

POPSAnimated ‘Astro Boy’: Marxism Aimed at Your Kids? Try ‘Astro Boy,’ the upcoming animated film featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage and Kristen Bell about a boy robot (Freddie Highmore) that leaves his scientist father after finding out he isn’t human. The movie features very adult ideas of ownership and class structure that will most likely be future fodder for college philosophy classes around the country.

POPSWas Joe Wilson Right? Free Health Care for Illegal Aliens!
and that every professor of constitutional law knows about , called Plyler vs. Doe (1982), the Court ordered Texas to make the same education available to illegal immigrants as it does to citizens. In so doing, the Court held that: (a) the Constitution protects “persons” ; and (b) “persons” are citizens as well as strangers, people born here and people who end up here, people here lawfully and people here unlawfully; and (c) in the area of social services, whatever benefits the government makes available to the general public cannot be kept away from a class of persons based on their immigration status or that of their parents. It is because of this ruling that Proposition 187 in California, which attempted to do via a referendum what Texas attempted to do via legislation, was invalidated. It is clear from the broad language in the Plyler case that providing an education is in the same class of social benefits as providing health care.

POPSPenalized At Work For Being A Mom Here's one piece of irony to consider. Research has shown that employers actually prefer fathers to childless men. Unlike working mothers, they are perceived to be more stable.

POPSSunday Talk Muddles Obama's Message
Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner and chief economic adviser Lawrence H. Summers managed to convey that the president was not ruling out a middle-class tax increase. That evidently was not what the White House had in mind. On Monday, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs bluntly fielded reporters' repeated questions about the tax remarks. "Let me be precise," Mr. Gibbs said. "The president's clear commitment is not to raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 a year." Last Sunday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told CNN that a government-run alternative to private health insurance was "not the essential element" of the administration's health care plan. The president's liberal Democratic allies perceived her comments as a clear sign that the White House was preparing to concede defeat on a crucial part of his plan. Not so, Mr. Gibbs said the next day, blaming the confusion on the media. He argued that a taxpayer-funded public health plan . . .

POPSFor Immediate Release iowahawk He encouraged independent God developers to support the closed-source iGod / iGov health care platform , warning that "woe be unto the unlicensed app developer, for he shall be smote by a vengeful hail of ACORNs." Other iGod apps currently in beta test include an end-of-life calculator, income leveler, and a wireless database detector for anti-government heretics and apostates. "I believe this exciting health care partnership opportunity with the Almighty will be every bit as successful as our previous peace partnerships in the Middle East, and will pave the way for an eventual merger," said Obama. No date has been set for Government-God merger plans, but the FTC has signalled it would give quick approval. To finance the project, Obama said US Government would seek US$2 trillion in a 103rd round of involuntary venture capital. Headquartered in Washington DC, U.S. Government (NASDAQ: USAGOV) employs over 4,000,000 full time workers . . .

POPSObama's Revealing Body Language (updated and expanded)) As some AT commentators point out, this picture becomes a metaphor for ObamaCare. The elderly are left in the back, with only the kindness of the Crowleys of the world, the stand up guys, to depend on. The government has other priorities. One of the major subtexts of the health care debate involves the public's fear of indifferent, powerful bureaucrats ruling their lives. It is one thing to wait in line at the DMV to find out which other line you should wait in, in order to begin the process of waiting for multiple bureaucrats to go through the motions of processing your request. I have spent entire afternoons going through this process. But when we get to health care, waiting often means enduring pain and dysfunction longer than necessary, sometimes a worsening of the condition, and sometimes death. That's why I think this image will have genuine resonance. It captures something that older Americans in particular can relate to.

POPS8th Grade girl's Strip Search - UNCONSTITUTIONAL
Thanks, to the ACLU, for taking on and winning the case of a young teenage girl, strip searched at school because another student claimed she had given her Advil. What the hell is wrong with some school officials? There are times they do not seem in possession of the brains they were born with. The case, of one child's frightening experience that will, without a doubt, be with her for the rest of her life and that’s not the chilling part. School, a place for learning, had become, this day in 2003, a place for terror... With all the bullying that goes on, many of our children are in fact, already afraid to go to school. Bullying by kids is one thing but harassment by a top school official (our employee) goes beyond the pale. A little Common Sense carried out by the school higher ups, would have absolved the whole incident with dignity for everyone. But, in defense of the school's inept vice principal, in (Bush/Neocon) 2003, insanity reigned supreme and Common Sense was in short supply!

POPSMemo Exposes Global Warming Dispute ~ EPA Science Called 'Stretch'
An administration official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the internal review process, said the comments challenging the science came from a single office, the Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy. "The disclosure of this OMB memo suggests that a political decision was made to put special interests ahead of middle-class families and small businesses struggling in this recession," said House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican. "It is unacceptable that this critical information was withheld and the regulatory process was abused in this fashion." The office, an independent arm of the administration whose current chief was named by President George W. Bush, is charged with looking out for small-business interests as the federal government writes rules and regulations. The memo was first reported by Dow Jones Newswire, and the intra-administration dispute could give opponents ammunition for a legal challenge to EPA's finding.

POPS A Statement from the Speaker of the House Had I known the real truth -- that they were describing the grim tools of a sadistic torture regime beyond the worst imaginings of Mengele himself -- I would have vigorously objected, and would have never cheerfully told my briefers, "play safely!" I am sorry for any confusion my earlier statements might have caused, and I hope this clarification puts the matter to rest. For future reference, please direct inquiries regarding torture issues within the California 8th District B&D community to my outreach coordinator Julian Julian Julian. All other torture-related issues should be directed to my National Security and Drag Queen Affairs Advisor, Lady Marmalade. Sincerely, Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House of Representatives

POPS High School Teacher's Anti-Creationism Comment Violated Law Farnan's lawsuit had cited more than 20 inflammatory statements attributed to Corbett, including "Conservatives don't want women to avoid pregnancies – that's interfering with God's work" and "When you pray for divine intervention, you're hoping that the spaghetti monster will help you get what you want." "When you put on your Jesus glasses, you can't see the truth." The establishment clause prohibits the government from making any law "respecting an establishment of religion" and has been interpreted by U.S. courts to also prohibit government employees from displaying religious hostility. The Capistrano Unified School District, which paid for Corbett's attorney, was found not liable for Corbett's classroom conduct. Corbett remains in his teaching position at Capistrano Valley High. Farnan, who dropped out of Corbett's class after filing the lawsuit, is now a junior at the school.

POPSThey Did It For You.... Wasn't there a *movement* revealed not too long ago which was seeking to redesign the Constitution...calling it antiquated? I don't know what the future holds for us but I think that Washington is beginning to understand that, while the growth of government has been increasing, it has gone nuclear in the last several years and more so in the last months. There are a lot of citizens who are realizing that if this continues we will no longer be a nation "..of the people, by the people, and for the people." A. Lincoln It was ok for Peta protests, War protests, Green protests, abortion-rights protests, etc.... but when the 'working class' protests taxation without representation and rejects the taking of their paychecks to fund a larger welfare state, well...suddenly we're extremists.

POPSVenezuela: Will the Democratic Will of the People Count?!!! Why didn't Bush&Co think of this and restore a third term to the US president, as previously. Think of all the disappointed Bushites that were stopped from voting for the third time for the worst president in living memory. Probably it was believed that as he had driven a horse and four through the American Constitution so often, that bothering with a vote for change of the Constitution was irrelevant. No? It just slipped his mind? "There's many a slip twixt cup and lip." I wonder can the outgoing president sign himself a pardon for war crimes? In secret? Just in case.

POPS Imaginary Americans March For Census Rights "It used to be that Non-Existentials were mostly confined to a few wards in Chicago, Philadelphia and Detroit, but we're seeing them more and more in opinion polls and elections around the country," said Tapper. "With dozens of congressional seats and billions of dollars in federal grants hanging in the balance, the President wants to make sure Imaginary citizens don't get undercounted in the 2010 Census." "It's just smart politics," added Tapper. "According to the exit polls, President Obama carried the Imaginary vote 346% to √-12%."
