POPSSteve Rubel says Twitter is peaking Steve makes a number of good points in this post. I find it hard to imagine that a platform that limits all communication to 140 characters can sustain the type of growth that twitter is currently enjoying. In some macro sense, that just wouldn't make sense. They have been brilliant in their simplicity, but after a while, i just don't see how people don't get board and frustrated by the limitation.

POPSFriendfeed the Next Google?! Steve Rubel makes an interesting argument. For me the last paragraph in the story says it all...the founders know how to scale a product like this; they were all team members at Google and helped to launch such products as Google Maps, Adsense, GMail and Google Groups.

POPSTrust in Peers Trumps the A-List This article by Steve Rubel may seem like a "duh" statement to many people who are well acquainted with social media, but we need to remember that the majority of consumers do not use social media at this point. Having data to back up the backend of the social media marketing theory can be a hude boon for those of us who are trying to forward it within our own organizations. Everyone trusts a peer, nobody trusts a marketer (I read that somewhere and it has stuck with me ever since).

POPSLock Up The Kids -- It's Xanadu The Musical The business of turning hit movies into Broadway musicals (Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Disney's Tarzan, etc.) took a surprising turn with Tuesday's debut of Xanadu. The original 1980 film was a cheeseball classic starring Olivia Newton John on rolling skates and music by the Electric Light Orchestra -- not exactly what you'd expect to see on the Great White Way. But surprise! Variety lavishes praise on the musical for its deft staging and knowing humor: "With a complicitous wink at the audience that's never overplayed, the creatives and cast at every turn cheekily point up the irony of charging Rialto prices for recycled trash." - Louis Hau
