POPSStem cells could allow 'blood farms' One of the issues recently has been the shelf life of blood, where the rotation principle-first in first out can leave blood 'stale' and unsafe. There is also the fact that the contributions cannot meet the demand, and the increase in surgery that requires large volumes of blood. Transplant, and heart surgery being prime examples. They have been searching for a means of producing blood artificially, but the prospect of using stem cells, makes it more likely to be a reality. One of the most important aspects is that the red cells have no nucleus, so no nucleic DNA. A fact that can relieve many ethical, and practical problems.

POPSPhysicists Seek Answers to Quantum Correlations The physicists ruled out several possible classical explanations for the instantaneous communication. For one thing, they showed that the photons did not share information before leaving Geneva, and so they didn´t travel knowing about each other´s properties. In another test, the scientists showed that no communication could have occurred through a different reference frame, as might happen because of the photons´ high speeds. According to Einstein´s theory of relativity, observers moving at high speeds can get different measurements of the same event because they have different reference frames. But, by performing tests over a complete rotation of the Earth, the researchers ruled out this possibility. "We think space and time are important because that´s the kind of monkeys we are,"

POPSWierd Science Clothes that are dried outside DO smell better because of a process called photolysis. What happens is this: sunlight breaks down compounds in the laundry that cause odor, such as perspiration and body oils. Clouds fly higher during the day than the night. Dirty snow melts faster than clean.

POPSNobody's Copyright Let’s see what some wise people, spiritual teachers, say about copyright. U. G. Krishnamurti, the controversial teacher/non-teacher, expressed it this way. My teaching, if that is the word you want to use, has no copyright. You are free to reproduce, distribute, interpret, misinterpret, distort, garble, do what you like, even claim authorship, without my consent or the permission of anybody (U. G. Krishnamurti, The Mystique of Enlightenment, India. Dinesh Vaghela. Goa. 1982: http://www.well.com/user/jct/mystiq.htm)

POPSBody Sensors Could Improve Your Skiing Style A researcher in New Zealand is strapping motion-capturing sensors to skiers to collect data that could ultimately help them improve their performance. Matthew Brodie at Massey University in Wellington has skiers wear up to 15 inertial motion units (IMUs) on their limbs, torso, pelvis, and head.

POPSPlanet and star in puzzling waltz Instead, the system might have started out that way. "It could be a coincidence, but I don't like explanations based on coincidence," says Aigrain. She suggests that magnetic fields might have helped to lock the system together, but stresses that it is pure speculation at this point. During its mission, COROT should discover many more planets. Aigrain and her colleagues hope they will then have a better idea whether synchronised systems are common, and what causes the phenomenon.

POPSOptical Illusion Videos A collection of videos about optical illusions with in addition to many examples of static and dynamic illusions also something about the use in advertising, a lecture about scientific aspects, the use in combination with music and finally an animated journey in a world of paradox and illusion.

POPSHypnotising rotating Flash objects Absolutely fantastic - the desinger has experimented with increasing the rotation speed of various objects including the yin yang symbol - that gets very interesting when the rotation speed gets up to around 180 and the yin yang dots move back to just two dots again...

POPSPlanetary line up excites the sun The equatorial region of the sun spins more rapidly than the poles, and this differential rotation winds up the magnetic field lines like a rubber band sunspots typically appear wherever these magnetic field lines bubble to the surface. They still have to do more testing, but it makes more sense than other theories such as tidal forces, or the movement of the sun around the solar system's center of gravity, which don't seem to have a significant enough effect.

POPSInformation Unlimited - Free Energy,Solar Energy
In the 1920s T. Henry Moray invented a free energy device that reportedly output 50 kilowatts of electricity. It could not be explained by standard science at that time. The electricity exhibited a strange cold current characteristic where thin wires could conduct appreciable power without heating. Moray suffered ruthless suppression, and in 1939 the device was destroyed. Frontier science lecturer and author Moray B. King explains the invention with todays science: Modern physics recognizes that vacuum contains tremendous energy called the zero-point energy. A way to coherently activate it appears surprisingly simple: First create a glow plasma or corona. Then abruptly pulse it. Other inventors have discovered this approach (sometimes unwittingly) and created novel energy devices, but they too were suppressed. The common pattern of their technologies clarified the fundamental operating principle. The purpose of this book is to inspire engineers and inventors so that a new energy source

POPSScientists mimic Earth's spinning core They say that the strength of the Earth's magnetic field has decreased by 10% in the last 150 years. Perhaps with the scale of electricity we produce, we are draining it like a battery. Maybe gradually slowing the movement of the metal. according to the law of conservation of energy. The production of energy is not spontaneous. It is a conversion, from one form to another. The fossil fuels drive a generator, but the electricity is produced due to the magnets in a dynamo interacting with the Earth's magnetic field. The magnetic energy converted to electrical energy. 26 ton Sphere full of boiling Sodium? They've disconnected the sprinklers, and the fire hoses. Humans and a 26 ton sphere full of wet sodium are better off in two different states. Sodium cracks water into caustic soda, and hydrogen with an attitude. Makes an oil fire look like a cigarette lighter. At least it's over in a flash.

POPSSouth Pointing Chariot - Ancient Chinese Invention It was invented, forgotten, re-invented, and modified many times throughout Chinese history. While none of the historic South Pointing Chariots remain, full sized replicas can be found, along with smaller sized working models (some have even been made with LEGO's).
