POPSSarah Palin calls for 'revolution' in speech to tea party - US needs Fourth Party of the Open Minded Now the real need is a self-organising movement for people who are not slaves to vested interests or ideologies who want to adapt intelligently to changing conditions. Surely, Ralph Nader and Ron Paul would join together to provide the movement with the necessary electoral machinery. I really feel sorry for Obama, but open minded people need to move on. Social media and social networking would be unprecedented and power tools for self-organising movements. It's all about collaboration. The need is urgent with the likes of Sara Palin in the wings. Where should people start?

POPSMister Speaker ..... Mark Steyn As to the content, I think there are several broad stylistic problems that, cumulatively, lead to a bigger one, identified by (of all people) The New York Times's Bob Herbert: Mr Obama is in danger of being perceived as someone whose rhetoric, however skillful, cannot always be trusted. Why is that? Well, look at the SOTU opening. It's eloquent, but in a cheesily generic way, as if one of his speechwriters was sent over to Barnes & Noble to pick up a copy of State of the Unions for Dummies: They have done so during periods of prosperity and tranquility. And they have done so in the midst of war and depression; at moments of great strife and great struggle. It’s tempting to look back on these moments and assume that our progress was inevitable " that America was always destined to succeed. But when the Union was turned back at Bull Run and the Allies first landed at Omaha Beach, victory was very much in doubt.

POPSmore comments and response from the Right Winger FDL community, I’m a Ron Paul supporter, however I didn’t claim and I don’t consider myself a full Libertarian, because as one of you so aptly pointed out, Libertarians don’t succeed in winning elections or winning people over with pure Libertarianism.

POPSA Welcome Note To Tucker Carlson's The Daily Caller, From Our Friend and Neighbor Arianna
That’s particularly true when the mainstream media are reporting and analyzing the news of the day in terms of right vs. left " the fallback canard of lazy journalism everywhere. Anyone looking at today’s political landscape with clear eyes can see that on issue after issue " the war in Afghanistan, the bailout, health care, the war on drugs, etc., etc. " the binary division of the debate into right vs. left obscures more than it reveals. John McCain and Maria Cantwell are joining forces to bring back Glass-Steagall-type banking regulations. Ron Paul and Alan Grayson are pushing through legislation to audit the Fed. George Will agrees with Russ Feingold that we should not escalate in Afghanistan. Howard Dean and Michael Bloomberg are both down on the health care bill. And on and on it goes. The outrageous news last week that the New York Fed under Tim Geithner told AIG to withhold from the public key details about payments that put billions of dollars into the coffers .....

POPSRon Paul Slams Cheney: US ‘Doing Exactly What Bin Laden Planned’ CNN November 1, 2004: "We are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. Allah willing, and nothing is too great for Allah," bin Laden said in the transcript. He also said al Qaeda has found it "easy for us to provoke and bait this administration." "All that we have to do is to send two mujahedeen to the furthest point east to raise a piece of cloth on which is written al Qaeda, in order to make generals race there to cause America to suffer human, economic and political losses without their achieving anything of note other than some benefits for their private corporations," bin Laden said. "And it all shows that the real loser is you," he said. "It is the American people and their economy." http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/11/01/binladen.tape/

POPSObama's health insurance is deadly fiasco I don't usually comment on US health care, BUT to be *forced* to pay private profit-making company for inadequate health coverage, with premiums increasing as I age, would make me very riled. And the policy won't do any good for the image of Obama, the Federales, or the health insurance industry. Where is Ralph Nader and a third Party when you need them? Couldn't he get together with Ron Paul -- the ultimate coalition. Howard Dean seems to understand what's going on, but he's an MD. If I were an American, then I would want to try something different. Anything! Why aren't people organising?

POPSA simple health care solution that Congress won't consider. This is a cool blog. Rick Toone certainly does not look like a conservative, Bible-thumping, birther, but he sure does not like the idea of government-mandated and government-run health care. I had not even heard of Ron Paul's proposal. Makes too much sense for Congress to seriously consider it.

POPSHouse Attacks Fed, Treasury ... Ron Paul's Measure Approved
The Fed faces a stinging backlash from legislators from both parties who argue that has too much power and too little oversight. On Thursday, the Senate Banking Committee began debating legislation that would largely remove the Fed from bank supervision over the objections of the Fed and the Obama administration. The Fed audit provision was added to pending legislation on financial regulation that the committee's chairman, Barney Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat, had planned to put to a vote Thursday. But he abruptly announced late in the afternoon that the bill wouldn't move ahead until after Thanksgiving. The reason: Ten members of the Congressional Black Caucus on the committee said they would oppose the bill to protest a lack of action to address the economic pain borne by their constituents. Although the economy appears to be growing again, lawmakers face increasing pressure in their districts to do more to boost growth and address an unemployment rate now at

POPSOakland Mayor Ron Dellums needs to explain tax mess or resign More: The debt owed to this city by Dellums is incalculable and there is nothing but pride - or arrogance - standing between him and a full public disclosure of the facts surrounding his tax problem. Anything short of that constitutes unacceptable behavior by a public official and violates the public contract between an elected official and the constituency the office serves. I tried to reach the mayor for comment - but he declined to speak with me, his press secretary Paul Rose told me. No one has asked Dellums to disclose anything that any other politician in the same set of circumstances wouldn't be asked to explain. If he cannot provide a public explanation for a controversy that has become another national embarrassment for this city, it's difficult to see how continuing in his current position is going to be good for anyone - either him or Oakland's citizens.
