Bill, originally from North Sulawesi, Indonesia, has been perfecting his awe-inspiring art for over 15 years after being inspired while hiking in Hawaii He said: "I saw a lot of cairns while I was walking and I was attracted to the fact they were put together by people with a common purpose" Balancing act: the delicate artwork of Bill Dan Balance master Bill Dan's incredible wizardry with weights has allowed him to created these stunning rock formations He has some tips for beginners: "If you are curious, you should start doing it yourself. It is not that difficult to stack two or three rocks. Don't worry if you start with large contact points, you can get smaller and smaller as you build your skills" And to prove that

Geodes are essentially rock cavities or vugs with internal crystal formations or concentric banding. The exterior of the most common geodes is generally limestone or a related rock, while the interior contains quartz crystals and/or chalcedony deposits. Other geodes are completely filled with crystal, being solid all the way through. These types of geodes are called nod

POPSQuartz over Chalcedony Natural Crystal Geode-Morocco
With its light lavender color and sparkling crystal caverns, this amazing Quartz Chalcedony Geode is incredible!Dimensions are for closed Geode. Geodes can form in any cavity, but the term is usually reserved for more or less rounded formations in igneous and sedimentary rocks, while the more general term "vug" is applied to cavities in fissures and veins. They can form in gas bubbles in igneous rocks, such as vesicles in basaltic lavas, or as in the American Midwest, rounded cavities in sedimentary formations. After rock surrounding the cavity hardens, dissolved silicates and/or carbonates are deposited on the inside surface. Over time, this slow feed of mineral constituents from groundwater or hydrothermal solutions allows crystals to form inside the hollow chamber. Bedrock containing geodes eventually weathers and decomposes, leaving them present at the surface if they are composed of resistant material such as quartz. Most contain clear quartz crystals, and others have purple

POPSTop 10 train trips #10 is The Ghan In the 1800's, emigrant Afghans on camelback sparked development in Aussie's remote desert Outback, acting as guides on expeditions and starting construction on a dream transcontinental railway. That dream has since been realized in the form of The Ghan, an 1850-mile, 2-night train ride operated by Australia’s Great Southern Railway, and fashioned from the tracks of those pioneer cameleers. Travel from the wine capital of historic Adelaide, brushing north past red sandstone cliffs, gorges, waterholes, and rock formations, keeping watch for wild camels, dingoes, brumbies (wild horses), and kangaroos along the way – an overall landscape that’ll have you exclaiming “There’s no place like Oz”!

POPS Inconvenient Truths About Oil by imports, which now account for 75% of our needs. So much for the pledge to make America independent of unreliable foreign sources. What went wrong? Of natural crude, we have large reserves off the coasts of California and Florida. America also has additional reserves in the Gulf areas, from Florida to Texas. In Alaska, both onshore and offshore, we have large areas of proven reserves. In the mountain Western states, large amounts of oil are available in the shale rock formations. The conversion of coal to oil, a technology available for over 100 years, remains another untapped resource. While this 86.3 billion dollar legislation does tell the auto makers how to build cars, tell us that we can’t buy incandescent light bulbs after 2012, and demand that we continue to use 1.25 gallons of gasoline to produce 1 gallon of ethanol (subsidized by us of course); it does not result in one new gallon of gasoline, or one watt of new electricity.
