POPSRescued children walked backwards into the sea Bill Fitzgerald, group leader at Action Camp, said some of the children, from deprived areas in Wales, had never experienced the sea before and he had pre-arranged with the RNLI to oversee the exercise on Saturday afternoon. 'The youngsters walked backwards with linked arms,' Mr Fitzgerald said. 'They went up to waist high paddling, singing and dancing. When the sandbank gave way, about four people then went into the sea. 'Those were the ones who were out of their depth and the lifeguards paddled in on their boards to get them. 'It was a fantastic response and we cannot thank them enough,' he added.
