POPSObama Outraises McCain Nearly 2 to 1 I guess if Republicans are looking for good news here, the party's doing much better than the candidate. The RNC has "over $75 million" in cash on hand, while the Democratic counterpart has only $28.5 million.

POPSBarack Backer Dodges On Obama Vote For Bush Energy Bill BONUS COVERAGE: Shuster Laughs in Donatelli's Face; Mitchell Mocks McCain Energy Plan Before Schwartz played dodgeball, Shuster played truer to form, literally laughing in a Republican's face. As the redoubtable Frank Donatelli, Deputy RNC Chairman, explained how McCain would stand up to the oil companies as he's promised to do in an ad, Shuster can be heard off camera letting go with a mocking laugh. View video here. Andrea Mitchell stopped short of laughing at a McCain advisor, but Mitchell found a mirthless manner of expressing cynicism over McCain's energy proposals. Prof. John Taylor of Stanford and the Hoover Institution, a McCain economics advisor, was her guest during MSNBC's 1 PM hour. After Prof. Taylor noted how proposals to drill offshore have already brought crude prices down significantly, Mitchell went on the attack.

POPSThe Scary Hatred That Exists They can tell us all they want that bigotry is no longer a problem and that black people have just a good a chance in this county as anyone else, but a picture is worth a 1000 words. This must be what Geraldine Ferraro meant when she said that Obama only got where he was because he was black.

POPSLieberman Would Address RNC My take? This is Lieberman's final term. He's not going to run in 2012. Mostly because he can't; he's completely destroyed his career as a public servant. In an '06 do-over, polls show Holy Joe would lose in a landslide to Lamont.

POPSJohn McCain plays us for fools John McCain makes a mockery of the campaign finance system he helped create. His campaign operates fronts for the RNC which uses unregulated funds in close cooperation with the McCain campaign. And we're paying him for the privileged.

POPSRNC Energy Ad False Annenberg points out that Obama has an entire webpage devoted to energy proposals, including "a 10-year, $150 billion spending plan that would go toward clean coal technology; further development of plug-in hybrid cars; and commercialization of wind, solar and other renewable fuels." "The RNC and McCain may not like all of Obama's ideas, just as Obama may not support all of McCain’s, but that doesn’t mean that they don't exist," says Fact Check.

POPSConservatives At Odds With McCain But perhaps more importantly, he has long been an advocate of entitlement reform. He was early an ardent support of personal accounts for Social Security, and has pushed for serious Medicare reform, including means-testing. Almost alone among Republicans, he opposed the disastrous Medicare prescription drug benefit. "On domestic policy, he has shown a disturbing predilection for elevating every personal pet peeve, from steroids in baseball to airplane service quality, to a federal issue. And, he has embraced heavily regulatory environmental policies and compulsory national service. Like George W. Bush, he tends to support federal power over federalism, executive authority over legislative, and generally leans toward the imperial presidency. For believers in individual liberty and limited government, it's a decidedly mixed bag. But, then again, aren't they all?"

POPSFinally some political outrage!! The RNC Welcoming Committee is an anarchist / anti-authoritarian organizing body preparing for the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.

POPS A Large And Telling Obama Flip-Flop The campaign-finance laws have always been a monument to hypocrisy. Don't, however, expect the system's supporters in the nation's editorial pages or good-government groups to admit that Barack Obama has killed it. More likely they will express "disappointment" with his decision and suggest that he "fix" it – after he's President, most likely with more rules that will help incumbents and the well known or rich. The odds of Mr. McCain's friends from the McCain-Feingold crusade stepping forward to defend him against this Obama gambit are close to zero.

POPS New RNC ad: Obama’s Money Man Rezko raised $250,000 for Obama during the course of his political career. Rezko’s criminal convictions reflect his lawbreaking in part through his fundraising activities for other Democrats, notably Rod Blagojevich, who may not be Governor for very much longer as a result of this conviction. As Stephen Spruiell makes clear, part of Rezko’s illegal activities put at least $10,000 into Obama’s coffers. He also details how Obama helped Rezko package one of the deals in which Rezko bought property to qualify for public funds while working as an attorney in a Chicago law firm. Rezko wasn’t just some guy on the cocktail-circuit for Obama or a campaign donor. Rezko was a close associate on several levels. Assuming that Barack Obama knew nothing of Rezko’s criminal business practices, how adept could Obama be?

POPSKerry: On September 11, 2001 We Were At Peace May 30, 2008 UPDATE: Responding to Kerry's claim, RNC spokesman Danny Diaz said: "It’s absolutely critical that the next Commander in Chief understands the challenges America faces. Yet it’s clear that Barack Obama has a thin understanding of history and fails to grasp the threat of terrorism." "After a week’s worth of examples demonstrating Obama’s lack of preparedness to serve as president, his campaign is understandably desperate to shift the focus. Considering it’s now been 873 days since Obama visited Iraq, any suggestion that he even understands what’s happening on the ground is laughable."

POPS "America's Open For Business" World Tour "Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.

POPS Another Hillary "Plant" At The RNC Debate CNN The broadcast, however, failed to mention that Kerr, who served as a brigadier general in the reserves, is a member of a gay and lesbian steering committee for Democratic candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.

POPS Keith Karr Is A Hillary Plant At The RNC Debate It turns out that Keith Kerr, retired Colonel., U.S. Army; retired Brigadier General, California National Reserve, who submitted a YouTube question about gays in the military, is actually a member of Hillary Clinton's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transexual Americans For Hillary Steering Committee. http://www.townhall.com/blog/g/d91f3cba-6a87-4686-92ce-70a16edc311b

POPSGlad I'm Not Republican In a mere 6 yrs. (although it no doubt started earlier) the Repubs have been co-opted by the neo-con warmongering corporatists...it's a shameful chapter in Amurrikan politics.
