POPSRush Limbaugh Tells Jews to Get Over the Holocaust Rush Limbaugh defended Germany for the Holocaust. Now, this would have to be Hitler’s Germany. Because modern Germany would neither condone nor sponsor another such atrocity. He will grab at anything that supports the degradation of a democrat even if he has to publicly defend one of the most psychotic, murderous personalities in history. Amazing. He must be off his meds. I truly hope that explains this. I wonder if there was ever a time in Limbaugh’s miserable life when he really believed it was best to forget history. Oh. I know one. When he was busted abusing prescription drugs after proselytizing about how drug abusers should be thrown in jail. Wouldn’t it be great if we can ignore the fact that Limbaugh ever got into broadcasting?

POPSThe Children's Crusade American soldiers shot a 12-year-old boy in the streets of Mosul, Omar Musa Salih, who was standing on the roadside selling fruit juice. Eyewitnesses on the scene said the boy had not thrown the grenade -- they had seen, with their own eyes, an older man lobbing it toward the Americans -- President Obama's Pentagon insisted that the dead boy was an "insurgent" who deserved to die. Their proof? He had a handful of Iraqi dinars -- less than $9 -- in his hand when they inspected his corpse. So that means he was in the pay of terrorists, you see. This is an inevitable result of military occupations in hostile lands: all of the natives come to be seen as the enemy -- children, women, the old and weak included. All are deemed imminent and/or potential threats by the conquerors, and so, ultimately, every civilian death can be "justified" -- because there are no civilians. There are just Them -- and Us. Why are we still in Iraq?

POPSObama's Triple Surge Into Afghanistan
What Obama has not mentioned is that, in addition to soldiers and civilians, there is a third surge in his plan: private military contractors. Yes, another privatized army, such as the one in Iraq. There, the Halliburtons, Blackwaters and other war profiteers ran rampant, shortchanging our troops, ripping off taxpayers, killing civilians and doing deep damage to America's good name. Already, there are 71,000 private contractors operating in Afghanistan, and many more are preparing to deploy as Pentagon spending ramps up for Obama's war. The military is now offering new contracts to security firms to provide armed employees (aka, mercenaries) to guard U.S. bases and convoys. Despite the widespread contractor abuses in Iraq, Pentagon chief Robert Gates defends the ongoing privatization push: "The use of contractor security personnel is vital to supporting the forward-operating bases in certain parts of the country," he declared in a February letter to the Senate Armed Services Committ

POPSObama to Cheney: You Didn't Make Us Safer
It seems like forever, or never, that we had a positive and progressive political leader who would stand up to the pitiful neocon Republican warmongering and claptrap ripping apart of our country and our principles. President Obama does that. There's actions behind the words too. All those Bush-era trials that were denied or stalled in the courts because of government claims of 'national security,' will now be allowed to go ahead. The false claim of 'national security,' can no longer be used to block trials and civil actions that involved Bush-era use of torture, extraordinary rendition and other crimes. I heard someone say yesterday he was a good "explainer.' Maybe it's that simple. He calmly explains why he doesn't need advise from war criminals like Dick Cheney. For some reason, in the past, nobody would respond to all the fascist sick ideas of the neocon Republicans and warmongers. I think this is a good 'signal,' btw. War crimes will not be brushed off and

POPSBringing Wind Turbines to Ordinary Rooftops
“The noisiest it gets is 35 decibels,” roughly the sound of a quiet conversation, he said of the whir of the blades. The turbine, which looks like a large wagon wheel, has a ring around its blades designed to diffuse noise and limit vibration. “The air is steered toward the diffuser ring and dispersed, rather than leaving the blades with a ripping noise,” Dr. Anderson said. The turbine costs $10,000 to $12,000 including installation, said Michael Ford, manager of the renewable energy business unit at Cascade Engineering. When the wind is blowing briskly at 30 miles an hour or more, it will generate 1.5 kilowatts of electrical power, he said. Enough, for instance, to run fifteen 100-watt light bulbs. “You need a strong average wind speed,” he said, recommending that prospective customers make careful measurements before they buy. “Don’t trust your memories about the wind power around your house,” he said. “People always remember when it’s windy,” but forget about the lulls.

POPS Art Encounters Life The graffiti artist who rocketed to fame with an iconic portrait of President Obama was released yesterday after spending a night in jail when he ran afoul of Hub cops unimpressed by his media blitz. Frank Shepard Fairey, 38, of Los Angeles was arrested Friday night for tagging a Massachusetts Turnpike building, police said. “Given his popularity, the suspect, prior to his exhibit, was interviewed by various media outlets in Boston and on a nationwide scale,” a police report states. “In several of these interviews, suspect spoke openly about illegally tagging. Suspect further acknowledged or admitted to recent tagging in Boston.” the Institute of Contemporary Art - has stoked his counter cultural image while making the media rounds, noting he has been arrested more than a dozen times.
