POPSHarvard: Swine Flu Pandemic Oversold; Fear Mongering Gov't To Blame? A little speculation here as to motives. Mine leans more to promoting the need for the universal health care system that was/is being forced upon us. As the article says, this is not to minimize the deaths of those who died from this strand of flu. All of us need to be vigilant and careful; but not for one minute did I believe this was going to be a global disaster. I'm not the brightest bulb in the box but discernment and common sense need to abound.

POPSIs This Bike Coming or Going? This story, about an odd cycling couple is pretty. And even more interesting is this customer built bike they ride around on. When you read the notes you'll understand why the rider in the back doesn't mind being in the back. I also like the discussion about the solar panel that also acts as a roof shade on hot days. Talk about multi-tasking. It's a pretty cool story, worth the read.

POPSChina's high speed train line completed in just 4 years Now this is real stimulus. The U.S. has nothing like this. The only "stimulus" the present idiotic administration can come up with is throwing good money at the useless trade unions in the auto industry for more votes and payback for their support, and to bail out the fat cats in banks and on wall street. It is clear to me. this trojan horse empty suit is trying to wreck our economy.

POPSA Fascinating NDE "The Void is the vacuum or nothingness between all physical manifestations. The SPACE between atoms and their components. Modern science has begun to study this space between everything. They call it Zero point. Whenever they try to measure it, their instruments go off the scale, or to infinity, so to speak. They have no way, as of yet, to measure infinity accurately."

POPS Pee Wee Obama's Big Adventure
As a reference point when Bill Clinton went to Asia for a week in 2000, that trip alone cost $63 million for all of the necessities of a glutton White House. Don't think for a second that the gluttonous Obama's are saving one dime. I ask people to remember Ronald Reagan vacationing at the Reagan Ranch. I ask people to remember George H. W. Bush who vacationed Kennebunkport at his family house. I ask people to remember George W. Bush in vacationing at his Texas ranch. Those properties were all paid for and did not cost $40,000 in rent. These Republicans if you recall liked to ride horse in Reagan, fish in Bush 41 and Bush 43 liked running a chainsaw. All cheap entertainment. There was never any entourage of pigs in family and friends seeing who could suck an expensive vacation off the US taxpayers. All three of these Republican Presidents dealt with economic catastrophes and understood the value of every cent they were spending. Yet Obama rolls in and can't find

POPSChina unveils 'world's fastest train link' Test runs for the service began earlier in December and the link officially went into service when the first scheduled train left the eastern metropolis of Wuhan on Saturday. By comparison, the average for high-speed trains in Japan was 243 kilometres per hour while in France it was 277 kilometres per hour, said Xu Fangliang, general engineer in charge of designing the link, according to Xinhua. Beijing has an ambitious rail development programme aimed at increasing the national network from the current 86,000 kilometres to 120,000 kilometres, making it the most extensive rail system outside the United States. China unveiled its first high-speed line at the time of the Beijing Olympics in 2008 -- a service linking the capital with the port city of Tianjin.

POPSChina begins 1000 km high speed rail link I recently took the 330 km/hr (200+ mph) train from Beijing to Tianjin. It is stunning, smooth, and ultra modern. Now this is real stimulus. Our U.S. administration are total idiots first by a stiulus that is nothing but political pork, and throwing good money after bad in bailing out the failing U.S. car industry. The U.S. does not have anything comparing to this Chinese train. Our infrastructure is failing badly, and we are rapidly becoming a third world country, thanks to the fools who voted in an empty suit marxist president.

Where is the moment we needed the most You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost They tell me your blue skies fade to gray They tell me your passion's gone away And I don't need no carryin' on You stand in the line just to hit a new low You're faking a smile with the coffee you go You tell me your life's been way off line You're falling to pieces every time And I don't need no carryin' on Because you had a bad day You're taking one down You sing a sad song just to turn it around You say you don't know You tell me don't lie You work at a smile and you go for a ride You had a bad day The camera don't lie You're coming back down and you really don't mind You had a bad day You had a bad day Will you need a blue sky holiday? POPSHow to keep riding through the winter More: * We keep our bags, panniers, tool kits, lights, water bottles, and whatever else, on the bikes and ready to go. * We perform bike maintenance on a regular schedule. This includes topping off tires, charging batteries, lubing chains, and keeping the bikes clean. A flat tire or a squeaky chain is just another unwelcome excuse to take the car. Besides trying to always make riding the convenient choice, we also try to encourage each other when the going’s a little rough. And when we get a break in the weather, we always take the opportunity to go for a joy ride for the sheer pleasure of it, because keeping it enjoyable is probably the best motivator of all.
