Is Halloween Your Favorite Holiday or Scariest?
ronhuxley
by ronhuxley  11-1-2009
One of my fav marketers, Seth Godin, takes about why we celebrate Halloween. He turns the blog, as he should, into a revelation about marketing. It makes me wonder why we do celebrate Halloween. It is not my favorite holiday but I know it is a lot of other peoples. Is it yours? When I was a kid, we worried about razor blades in the apples or candy bars. I check my kids candy but I don't know if I subscribe to all the fear either. What is your thoughts on this holiday? Love it? Fear it? Tweet us a reply or share a comment below.

"Truth to Power" by Mark Steyn
merrie
by merrie  11-1-2009    3
He came; he saw; he stimulated: “If you accept the premise, and I do, that the United States is the most powerful country in the world, then Barack Obama is the most powerful writer since Julius Caesar. That has to be good for American artists.” I suppose so. He could invade somewhere and force the natives to accept degrading roles in NEA-funded performance art. He could take out the Iranian nuclear program by carpet-bombing it with unreadable literary novels. That is, if you “accept the premise” that the United States is the most powerful country in the world. Rocco Landesman may, but it’s not clear, from his actions (or inactions) in Eastern Europe, Iran, Afghanistan, and elsewhere, that the president does. But, even so, it seems an odd pitch to “American artists.” Rocco Landesman, Speaking Goof to Power, isn’t the first Obama groupie to enjoy the kinky frisson of groveling obsequiousness, but he’s set an impressive new standard in public revelation thereof.

US pays $400 per gallon for gas in Afghanistan
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  10-27-2009    1
The government's Defense Energy Support Center provides fuel to the military at $2.78 per gallon, the conveyance of which then grows exponentially more expensive as it travels through dangerous combat zones. Gen. James Conway, who runs the Marine Corps, told a Navy forum that perilous risky routes up gasoline that originally cost $1.04 gallon up to $400.

When all the words of Scripture are elevated to the rank of being the very words of God, the unique word of God embodied in Jesus "in whom all the fullness of deity dwells in bodily form" (Col. 2:9) is reduced to just one source of divine revelation among many.

The Science Behind Global Warming Is Settled. Sadly, It's Also Been Incinerated
merrie
by merrie  10-8-2009    1
The Dog Ate Global Warming, by Patrick J. Michaels @NRO Imagine if there were no reliable records of global surface temperature. Raucous policy debates such as cap-and-trade would have no scientific basis, Al Gore would at this point be little more than a historical footnote, and President Obama would not be spending this U.N. session talking up a (likely unattainable) international climate deal in Copenhagen in December. Steel yourself for the new reality, because the data needed to verify the gloom-and-doom warming forecasts have disappeared. Or so it seems. Apparently, they were either lost or purged from some discarded computer. Only a very few people know what really happened, and they aren’t talking much. And what little they are saying makes no sense. In the early 1980s, with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, scientists at the United Kingdom’s University of East Anglia established the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) to produce . .

History will judge us harshly if we allow the hope of a liberated Afghanistan to evaporate because we failed to stay the course." One commentator has suggested that he's going to "outsource" it to NATO.

Israeli offensive causes birth defects in Gaza
The Infowarrior
by The Infowarrior  9-26-2009    2
Medical experts had earlier predicted that the illegal use of the chemical weapons in the densley-populated area would cause a long-lasting tragedy and plauge the future generation. According to Gaza health officials and human rights groups, Israeli forces killed over 1,400 Palestinians, including more than 900 civilians, in the offensive. The revelation comes shortly after a UN Human Rights report accused Israel of deliberately violating international humanitarian law and using disproportionate force during its "Operation Cast Lead" against the people of Gaza at the beginning of the year. "The Israeli operations were carefully planned in all their phases as a deliberately disproportionate attack designed to punish, humiliate and terrorize a civilian population," the fact-finding mission --led by former South African constitutional court judge, Richard Goldstone-- said.

Here We Go Again--Iran Is a Threat (but Not Nuclear Israel), blah, blah
blueridge
by blueridge  9-25-2009    7
The propaganda machine about the "threat" of Iran has kicked into high gear, again, driven (as was the Iraq war) by not just the White House and both coerced parties in Congress (via AIPAC), but US Media, singing in complete unison. Who is really playing the aggressor? Who is threatening to attack whom , ....and based upon what ? The drum beat is identical to that about Iraq and Saddam Hussein, which we know was a lie, and part of the neocon agenda for a "new middle east". The morale of that story is do not trust the government when it comes to starting (or provoking) wars and conflicts, which always begins with sanctions , and gaining the UN Gang's support, rather easily swayed. They seek to overcome any resistance by incessant REPETITION of the same propaganda message as with Iraq.

Iran? Secret? Nukes? Revealed?
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  9-25-2009
Like a massive nuclear propaganda super spin bomb all news today is about the revelation of a second nuclear enrichment power plant in Iran. This "revelation," started 4 days ago when Iran told the world about it. The plant is not operational yet. But rather quickly, Britian, USA, France, Israel, etc. are acting and making statements like They Revealed this discovery. They are also acting like they discover a nuclear bomb factory instead of being told about a non-operational nuclear power facility. !? It's quite a massive propaganda blitz, well-timed, in the midst of the UN meeting, in the midst of the G-20 meeting, shortly before a meeting of Western Powers and Russia,China to discuss sanctions on Iran. And...the "secret," of Israel having nuke weapons and never telling the IAEA or anybody about what it's doing still is apparently forbidden to mention. It truly sounds like a major move, a lead up to starting a war. If it get's "fixed," in people's mind that Ira

Iran's "Secret" Nukes
sahara
by sahara  9-25-2009    3
"But the U.S. has known of the facility's existence "for several years" through intelligence developed by U.S., French and British agencies, a senior White House official said. Obama decided to gather allies to talk publicly on Friday about their view of the project so as not to let Iran have the only word, officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity to let the statements from Obama and the leaders remain the focus. The plant would be about the right size to enrich enough uranium to produce one or two bombs a year, but inspectors must get inside to know what is actually going on, the official said. The three leaders hoped the disclosure would increase pressure on the global community to impose new sanctions on Iran if it refuses to stop its nuclear program."

Western Powers to Accuse Iran of Covert Nuclear Site
merrie
by merrie  9-25-2009
The Islamic Republic has continually been criticised for its nuclear programme, with western nations declaring Tehran's motives involve the building of a nuclear arsenal, not the development of nuclear power stations. The news comes the day after the UN security council passed a resolution calling for an end to all nuclear weapons. Iran continues to be placed under UN sanctions following its failure to suspend its enrichment programme.

"Democrat-Media Complex"
billpar
by billpar  9-24-2009    1
“The unorthodox roll-out was orchestrated to protect James and Hannah,” said Breitbart. “The moment that their peril ended, was when Jon Stewart reported on this, making fun of the media for missing the story. At that moment I called James and Hannah and said, “You’re mostly in the clear, and the only people left who’ll attack you will be some liberal bloggers.’” Breitbart knows something about liberal bloggers. His pre-BigGovernment career included many months working to launch The Huffington Post. (He had been a researcher for Arianna Huffington in the early 1990s, before he joined Drudge, when both of them were still conservatives.) “I wanted the world to see what the Left and the Los Angeles/Manhattan salons had to think about national politics,” Breitbart told TWI. “Sunlight is the best disinfectant. I thought it would be great for Arianna and I thought it would be great for the right, because it gave them source material.”

Epiphanies on the Web
vintageozarks
by vintageozarks  9-21-2009
I am experiencing epiphanies almost continuously these last few days; one such epiphany is that in this new world of virtual marketing of self, I want to absorb it and move forward with it, snatching up every ounce of networking I can latch onto and I'm doing it as fast as I can, feel obsessed with doing this; eager to watch it grow, evolve, and excited about where it will lead to down the road. Will share my Internet Safari into "who knows where" with anyone who wants to tag along. I'll be pushing the envelope everyday.
