POPS Who says it's green to burn woodchips? Almuth Ernsting from Biofuelwatch said: "It's almost unbelievable that we're creating vast areas of monoculture, mile after mile, just to be cut down as fast as they grow, to be shipped thousands of miles to be burned just for people's electricity. It just doesn't make sense. What about all the habitat that gets destroyed along the way?" Arrrghhh!!!! Please pass on ... retweet ... whatever. Somewhere I line must be drawn. See how woodlands can support multiple livings, and how complex they really are... www.worldwidewood.wordpress.com.

POPSThe Report of a Divorce is Still "Categorically False" "Less than one week ago, Governor Palin asked the media to 'quit making things up,'" Stapleton added. "We appreciate that the more professional journalists decided to question this story before repeating it." An attorney for Palin denied the report to CBS News: Sarah Palin's attorney, Thomas Van Flein, told CBS News that the report of a divorce is "categorically false." Palin may issue her own statement later in the day, though the frequent Twitter user has yet to tweet on the topic. busblog Sarah Palin STILL not getting a divorce (in case you don’t believe it) | csmonitor.com http://ff.im/-63jr0 http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2009/08/01/sarah-palin-still-not-getting-a-divorce-in-case-you-still-dont-believe-it/

POPSFacebook badly needs the Retweet 100% agree. The Retweet is freaking brilliant. It rewards the person doing it as well as the person receiving it...and it allows information to circulate throughout twitter very efficiently. without something like it, the facebook stream is much less dynamic and viral.

POPSWhat Twitter and slot machines have in common i suppose that just like the spins of a slot machine, most of our tweets come up blank (no response, no retweet, etc.). But just often enough we get a little bit of feedback and maybe just maybe we occasionally come up with 3 cherries! And, of course, just like sitting in a casino, it often seems like other people are winning. I suppose Twitter works like that too...we all watch as other people get @replies and retweets just like watching people at the nearby slots who seem to have better luck that us. strictly from a psychological standpoint, it seems plausible that twitter may have much in common with casinos.

POPSTwitbabble- The promising new kid in Twittter Apps This is the Latest new entry in online Twitter applications. It's not memory hog. Twitbabble has some pretty neat features, like scheduled tweets and nearby tweeple. The nearby Tweeple feature is really cool. It gives you the ratings of the Tweeple and their number of Tweets. You see those closest to you first, but you can type in your State and see where you rank. The unload pic and shorten url are nice additions. I'm still kicking the tires. I suggested to support a few things I would like to see. They need to have a toggle switch to silence the tweets of incoming & out going tweets. A mark as read feature would be nice too. Twitbabble lets you manage multiple twitter accounts. I give it two thumbs up, it is well worth your time to check out.

POPSTwitter Search to make broader sweeps Something significant is happening everyday. I found this out from an Ed Goldstein retweet of a Clip on Amplify. The self-signifying collaborative consciousness is at its baby-talk stage. Soon some form of grammar will have to evolve if any sense is to be made of the torrents of data.

POPS@davewiner gets it wrong on retweeting and ignores clipmarks First of all, a retweet is absolutely not the same as voting something up on Digg or Reddit. Retweeting causes something to immediately jump to the top of the feed for any user following the person who does the retweet. Digg and Reddit most certainly do not work this way. Second, this is exactly what popping a clip on clipmarks.com does...but not surprisingly, this was not mentioned. I really can't help but wonder why clipmarks.com is so often overlooked by the media as they jerk off about so-called new functionality from twitter, friendfeed and facebook. There's no doubt that those three sites have far surpassed clipmarks in regards to size. But so damn many of their features are things clipmarks introduced years ago. Another example of this is the real time FriendFeed that @scobleizer is so wowed by...clipmarks has worked that way for years, yet he acts like this is revolutionary. I don't get it.

POPS Twitter's PyraTwit~Simulated "PonziScheme" Social experiment on Twitter, designed to simulate a classic Ponzi scheme. No cash changes hands; instead, we're using Twitter "follows" as currency. New "investors" agree to follow a certain number of Twitterers and in return, are followed by twice as many.
