You can hear much more about the conference at : http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2009/11/legal-conference-on-freedom-of-speech.html#readfurther (and on a much needed lighter note, I had the good fortune to run into Steven Crowder at Dulles Airport last night and got to thank him for his work---he was exactly like he is in the videos---good guy )

Radical Islamist to Lead Unprecedented March
foxyarse
by foxyarse  10-24-2009
Mr Griffin also hailed the development, saying, "this move by the Pak.. I mean the radical Islamists demonstrates that the BNP is now the right choice for Britain's idiots. We stand now as a mainstream Party, offering the opportunity of quality multicultural unfairness to all Britain's morons. As part of the move the BNP's Constitution is to be reviewed to bring it more in line with the teachings of radical Islam. References to 'ragheads' and other potentially Islamic slights are to be removed, with greater emphasis placed instead on the disempowerment of woman. However, both men said they were in agreement that any bits about being Jewish could stay in place. Reports that the cleric intends to stand for Parliament remain unconfirmed.

On July 30, eight people were burned alive in the village of Gojra, also in Punjab, after a purported incident of desecration of the Koran in the nearby village of Korian Wala. Churches were attacked and copies of the Bible and hymn books were burned in both villages. In Korian Wala alone, more than 50 houses of Christians were ransacked. On Sept. 11, a church in a village in Punjab's Sialkot district was burned after claims that a 20-year-old Christian youth had desecrated the Koran. On Sept. 15, a day after his arrest, Robert Masih was found dead in his jail cell. Police reported it as a suicide, but Mr. Masih's family claims he was killed. Joseph Francis, who runs an organization providing legal assistance to Christians, said he saw marks of torture on Mr. Masih's body.

The rest of the piece: "So the forced marriage of this little girl — and it is forced, because no one that young can truly consent to a marriage and she demonstrated her feelings by running away — is perfectly consistent with both shariah (the laws of Islam) as well as the laws of Saudi Arabia. At the same time as this is happening, the Saudi religious police is cracking down on circus performances because "magical" acts (fire eating, laying on glass) is against shariah. That makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?"

Oh, he's not a Christian? My mistake. "It beggars belief that a person of average intelligence who has devoted themselves to the study of Islam over some years would fail to recognise the nature of the material,'' she said. "The dissemination of extremist activity, connected or unconnected with a terrorist plot, is caught by the government's (anti-terror) scheme ... (because such material) is capable and is shown to foment terrorist activity.'' Khazaal was sentenced to 12 years in prison, with a non-parole period of nine years. With time already served, he will be eligible for release after August 31, 2017.

Horray! Nawal el Saadawi Returns to Egypt
zizzy
by zizzy  9-24-2009
I haven't seen any of her books at Al Diwan Bookstore since I've returned to Egypt. She is no fan of Pres. Barack Obama. “I’m against the capitalist, patriarchal, racist system that is ruling America and Europe, and is ruling us also, but that doesn’t mean I’m a communist. I’m a critic of the communist thought as well as all religions, as nothing is holy for me, Dr el Saadawi said. Sheikh Youssef el Badri, a radical cleric in Egypt, said that a law office was considering how to pursue Dr el Saadawi legally, now that she is back. “I have to chase her legally because she transgressed God in her books and interviews ... She has insulted Islam, the religion of one-third of the world’s population. “People like her, who are attacking religion, will encourage other people to become daring on God and Islam. We are not trying to take revenge, we’re hoping to lead her back to the right path.".
