In fact, the actors playing "criminals" passing through a revolving door in the ad were all white. -- Voters considered it relevant that a candidate for president was so beholden to the ACLU that he backed an idiotic furlough program that released first-degree murderers. And yet in Keith Olbermann's discussion of Bush's allegedly vile, racist use of Willie Horton, he used a phony version of the ad, doctored to include a photo of Horton. in fairness to Keith, he's never been a "content guy." He was a communications major. (The agriculture school Keith attended offered a degree in this field.) He lifts the material for his show from liberal blogs, overwrites it, and throws in his trademark smirking and snorts. But that's all he does because, again, he was a communications major.

It's the right choice for several reasons and there are a few money quotes below. Social Media should be managed in-house because: 1. It's cheaper. You can hire a "Community Manager" for half of what it would take for an agency to manage the business. 2. It's faster. If you have someone in-house who is intimately involved in the brand and the company, you will be able to react to opportunities and challenges faster. 3. It's all about the content. Agencies are probably more skilled on the technical side, but let's face it - pretty much anyone can figure out how to use Twitter, Facebook, Flickr or blogs these days. When aimed squarely at the original argument, it can be convincing. But unfortunately it's common for counterarguments to be aimed at something slightly different. More often than not, two people arguing passionately about something are actually arguing about two different things. Sometimes they even agree with one another, but are so caught up in their squabble they don't realize it. DH5. Refutation. The most convincing form of disagreement is refutation. It's also the rarest, because it's the most work. Indeed, the disagreement hierarchy forms a kind of pyramid, in the sense that the higher you go the fewer instances you find. DH6. Refuting the Central Point. The force of a refutation depends on what you refute. The most powerful form of disagreement is to refute someone's central point.
