POPSJohn Lennon's killer gives new details of shooting Chapman also said he felt ashamed and sorry for killing Lennon. He has spent almost 28 years in Attica prison in New York. Ono, who has previously written to the parole board opposing Chapman's release, did not offer any testimony at his fifth and latest and fifth parole hearing on August 12. Chapman said he had a job offer on a farm in upstate New York. However his request for parole was rejected "due to concern for the public safety and welfare". His next hearing will be in August 2010.

POPSGorilla grieves over death of her baby The death of Claudio is a double tragedy for Gana; for reasons unknown to scientists, she rejected her six week old daughter Mary Zwo last year. She was moved to a zoo in Stuttgart where she is healthy and one of the star attractions. By Monday morning the zoo keepers were still unable to get to the body of Claudio, so fiercely is Gana guarding him. "In the wild a gorilla mother can keep hold of a dead baby for weeks," added Herr Adler. "We will carry out an autopsy on the body when we can.

POPSPatients 'should not expect NHS to save their life if it costs too much' "Nice defended its ruling last night saying that the Citizens Council provided useful input to its decisions but that the organisation's role was to determine how best to allocate the health service's limited resources." "Nice is facing increasing accusations that it is giving undue weight to financial considerations - rather than medical benefits - when making decisions on whether to allow drugs or other treatments on the NHS. Doctors and patients have alleged that they are treated with contempt by the organisation and that life-saving drugs are being unfairly denied. "

POPSScience, faith and everyday miracles "An Einstein letter that sold at an auction in May leaves little doubt of his atheism. "The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish," he wrote in 1954, a year before his death." "And yet Einstein is famous for a number of teasingly "spiritual" quotations - "I cannot believe that God plays dice with the cosmos," for one - that suggest he is a theist. A growing body of Einsteinologists believes the physicist was using such God language metaphorically to express a human impulse for finding meaning and comfort in the clock-like workings of the universe. As he wrote in 1931:"

POPSThe 9/11 Solution - RESTORED We find most of the videos we post to Brasscheck TV, but occasionally we find the time to make one. This video has an interesting history. Google took it down after three days and over 17,000 views. YouTube blocked us from posting it altogether. Someone copied it while it was up on Google and posted it to YouTube Canada where it became the most discussed video of all time in the "News and Politics" category with over 500,000 views. But now it seems to have been entirely scrubbed from YouTube Canada. Anyhow, somehow we have it back up on Google Video. Watch it while you can. Somebody really doesn't like this one

POPSMcCain-Lieberman Ticket? No surprise. Israel wins, especially if something happened to the "gray hair dude" (P. Hilton). Neocon "birds of a feather...". There really is no true republican candidate. This might just send a whole lot of conservatives to third party candidates and ensure Obama a win--unless there is an October Surprise (false flag attack), which would help the military veteran.

POPSTime Horizon???? Is the President going soft? Maybe soft in the head? Is it a new strategy or just a change in strategy to help elect McBush? Delay, delay and non committal. Propaganda, Propaganda.

POPSSeymour Hersh: Cheney considered killing Americans in pretext to attack Iran During the journalism conference event, I asked Hersh specifically about this meeting and if he could elaborate on what occurred. Hersh explained that, during the meeting in Cheney’s office, an idea was considered to dress up Navy Seals as Iranians, put them on fake Iranian speedboats, and shoot at them. This idea, intended to provoke an Iran war, was ultimately rejected.

POPSA federal court rejects Bush's "executive privilege" claims And did some liberal "I make the law from the bench" write this ruling? Errrm....NO! "as a Federal District Judge, John D. Bates of the District of Columbia District Court -- a Bush 43-appointed (and generally very pro-Bush-administration) Judge as well as the former Deputy Independent Counsel for the Whitewater investigations -- held in a 93-page ruling (.pdf) that Bush aides Harriet Miers (former White House counsel) and Josh Bolten (White House Chief of Staff) are not entitled to absolute immunity from Congressional subpoenas."

POPSGlobal Warming Consensus Rejected By Scientists
the world continues to cool. That is leading to increasing scepticism that the call to sacrifice living standards in order to "save the planet" is just political spin designed to persuade the public to accept green taxes." Syun-Ichi Akasofu "There are so many times the Earth was warmer than now, or colder than now. We are not affecting the climate change." Lord Nigel Lawson The consensus is breaking down because no matter how much the global warming agenda-setters may want us to be, people are not sheep, to be led around and told what to think and what to say. You can only lie to us for so long before the truth exposes your movement for what it is; a dogma based on faulty science and ulterior motives. We've heard prediction after prediction after prediction about how the polar ice caps were absolutely inevitably going to melt away into nothingness this summer. Of course, they haven't. Not even close. You'd think that would put some humility into these Chicken Littles.

POPSHersh: Cheney meeting discusses ways to provoke Iran to war "why don’t we build—we, in our shipyard—build four or five boats that look like Iranian PT boats, put Navy Seals on them with a lot of arms, and, the next time one of our boats goes through the Straits of Hormuz, start a shoot-up" Who are the bad guys here?

POPSScientology Slapped With Civil RICO Suit The Super Adventure Club probably isn't what the statute's drafters had in mind, but then again.. Notre Dame law professor G. Robert Blakey, one of its main drafters, insists that Congress never intended to restrict its application to the Mob. "We don't want one set of rules for people whose collars are blue or whose names end in vowels, and another set for those whose collars are white and have Ivy League diplomas," he says. Presumably the same goes for people whose collars are red and who rule the Galactic Confederacy. (HT: WWTDD)
