POPS5-HTTLPR and Depression So the short allele assumes that we avoid risk and have great support systems. What if we don't? "Only" 40 percent of the S variant in countries of European origin is still close to half. Most of my family is short on serotonin, and we're Scandinavian/English. There's currently no way to make more. SSRIs only make more of what you already have available for neurotransmitting. Help, medical science!

POPSFox News isn't even pretending anymore The boldest innovator, however, has been Fox News. Since President Obama’s election, the cable news channel has dropped all but the barest pretense of objectivity. Billing itself as “fair and balanced,” Fox has turned itself into what White House communications director Anita Dunn recently called “the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party.” Actually, that’s an extremely polite way of putting it. It’s closer to Orwell’s “Ministry of Truth.” Fox openly promotes “Tea Parties” and other political demonstrations; it portrays every perceived White House defeat, such as Chicago’s failure to secure the 2016 Olympic Games, as a victory for something called “Fox Nation.” “Doublethink,” Orwell called it: the ability to “hold simultaneously two opinions which canceled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them.” So it is with “Fox Nation” and “fair and balanced.”

POPSFixing the Health-Care System “Too-little insurance means that there are people who are uninsured, and the reasons are that some people truly cannot afford it. Other people have the income – some 9 million plus have $75,000 a year annual income or greater -- but they choose not to buy health insurance, even though other people in the same circumstances are getting health insurance.”

POPSMulti-Decade Fascistic Creep (psst, yes I said it) This "model" (as opposed to "conspiracy") is worthy of note and investigation. That being one in where, over an extended period of time - decades - directing, maneuvering, forcing, ruling, regulating, as well as both blocking AND allowing any practices and procedures by insurance companies, medical doctors, hospitals, whether pro-big insurer or against, whether large or small, no matter to whom it may have seemed to be a favorable move for or against, anything that would eventually limit individual citizens options and create the merging and consolidation without reasoned oversight, allowing courtroom decisions, etc. so that we come to where Americans' options have been narrowed and whittled down to having to be at the mercy of the demon insurers. And when it gets bad enough, and tough enough for enough people, then the salvation must come from their rescue health plan ~ and THEIR PLAN ONLY!

POPSSudan postpones 'trousers' trial Some wonderful moves coming from Africa. First the sex strike in Kenya, now the question of who has the right to wear the pants. Maybe they are hearing of the suffering families who have to ban men from their villages and have everyone inside and safe before the sun sets, lest the fighters kidnap the boys.

POPSExxon sabatoages oil wells in Texas “When the relationship turned sour in the 1990s, Exxon-Mobil terminated the lease and plugged the wells,” states Patterson’s report. “As per state rules, Exxon filed paperwork with the Railroad Commission outlining its well-plugging procedures and filed sworn affidavits as to the final condition of the wells. The O’Connor family soon learned those reports to the Railroad Commission were fraudulent. “When an independent producer, Emerald Oil, attempted to capitalize on new legislative incentives to reopen abandoned wells, they found the old Exxon-Mobil wells hadn’t been plugged but sabotaged — filled with junk, cut well casings, contaminated oil tank sludge and even explosives. Many of the wells were left unrecoverable.”

POPSZell, GA's answer to Ala's Jeff Sessions Message of the Day: It's ok to be racist if you're a has been senator or failed governor. This is pure red meat for the base. All you need are gods, guns and gays. It seems here that a little bit of the old faithful racism doesn't hurt either. I wonder if Zell and Beauregard are related?

POPSCalls for full audit of the Federal Reserve - Ignored That's because there has been a silent coup in America – with the Federal Reserve, a tool of the rich and powerful international bankers, used to usurp the power of the people. Now is the time to challenge Congress to reclaim its constitutional authority – and a good first step is Rep. Paul's demand for an audit of the Fed. Does Congress have the courage to take on the powerful money masters? Are members of Congress merely puppets on a string? Will they be content to do as they are told by the bankers, who get richer when times are good and richer when times are bad and who control the money supply and the value of the dollar according to their own needs and desires? It's time to find out. Some say the transfer of power is complete and there is no going back to constitutional government under the rule of law and the will of the people.
