POPSPlease let this be the future of travelling by plane Having just survived 2 24-hour transit times in less than 30 days (and uncomfortable ones at that), this just really grabbed my attention and sounds absolutely fascinating. I just hope that the seats recline a bit more.... More at the source, as well as the plans for first and business classes

POPSi met the walrus but not yet Sarkozy "He is like Jacques Chirac, only worse," said Daniel Gros, director of the Centre for European Policy Studies. President Sarkozy has put the EU's national rivalries centre stage, through his proposal to lend 3bn euros (£2.6bn; $3.8bn) each to PSA Peugeot-Citroen and Renault, but on the condition that they avoid closing French production plants, or laying off French workers. With demand for cars in Europe down 27% in January, something has to give - and that something might well be Czech workers. There is a clear concern at the drift of French policy. EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes, who must ultimately decide on the legality of the French programme, is making her position quite clear. "We have to protect people by creating for them real jobs with real futures, not jobs that only exist as long as the taxpayers' money exists. That takes leadership. Leadership is not bribing multinationals and stealing jobs from one's neighbours," she said.

POPSThe Culture of Death Defined At 23 weeks, an otherwise healthy fetus would have a slim but legitimate chance of survival. Quadruplets born at 23 weeks last year at The Nebraska Medical Center survived. An autopsy determined Williams' baby - she named her Shanice - had filled her lungs with air, meaning she had been born alive, according to the Department of Health. The cause of death was listed as extreme prematurity.

POPSBarbaric The irony is that if the doctor had been on time that SAME BABY would have been systematically dismembered and thrown in the trash, and there would have been no outcry.

POPSEwww. Come on people! What are you doing to these kids? Ok, so I posted a comment about Miley Cyrus but not because she was being sexy but because she looked dead in that photo and Michael K had me cracking up. Anyway, this was on Slate, and it is pretty frickin' creepy. What are these people doing to these kids? We sit here and talk about protecting children but this is what is out there all over the world. Sorry, I know, there is a lot more going on in the world that I am paying attention to, I just do not post it. But this is gross.

POPSWell, I ain't taking my clothes off!
The writer Quentin Crisp spent the war years as an artist’s model at Derby School of Art. He described the job as “like being a civil servant, except that you are naked”. Cherie Blair sat for the painter Euan Uglow while she was a trainee barrister. When she and her husband moved into public life, Uglow judiciously decided to avoid exhibiting Striding Nude, Blue Dress. It reappeared in 2006, six years after his death. Her profile is distinguishable but the painting remains unfinished. Kate Moss was depicted reclining naked on a bed in Lucien Freud’s Naked Portrait 2002 while she was pregnant. The sitting was arranged after the model revealed in an interview that posing for Freud was one of her few remaining ambitions. A retired art teacher was shocked in 2003 when she found a sketch she had made decades earlier and realised it was Sean Connery, aged 22 and in a loincloth. “When he modelled there were always lots of girls in the classes,” she said. POPSReligious Gullibility It is certainly not surprising that religionists would eat this up. They already believe in fairy tales. Why not throw in a giant or two.
