What new technology do you have that isn't already obsolete as soon as you buy it? I can think of only one that I've purchased in the past thirty years. I did actually buy a computer that didn't become obsolete within three years. I can understand it if technology is truly growing and developing, and new, greatly enhanced products are being produced. That doesn't happen very often. From vinyl formats to programs to online image formats to music formats, the balkanized world of technology has introduced its most recent addition: E-BOOK READERS. The concept of importance here is that the e-book reader world is balkanized, separated....segregated, for no good reason. One might surmise that it is greedy desire for exuberant overspending by the consumer. Is this what drives the separation and format variations among the electronic publishers and e-book reader manufacturers? Each e-book reader accepts a few electronic publication formats. Some Americans do not have confidence in the American system of Justice, the efforts of local law-enforcement (they're overwhelmed), or the ability to maintain personal security. It's not just rural areas; it's regular folks who are taking responsibility for their own family's protection because the criminal element has become too large for law enforcement to handle. We receive, almost weekly, reports of criminal activity in our own neighborhood. Thankfully, the local police send out the reports, but we have to be aware of them and safeguard of property and children.

POPSCouric Rips Obama Correspondent Chris Reid chimed in: “The president is getting battered on everything from the economy to foreign policy. Some polls show Americans are increasingly questioning his credibility.” The report asserted that while Obama talks about dealing with unemployment, which is over 10 percent and expected to rise, he has developed “no new ideas” for dealing with the problem. CBS also cited a poll showing that only 14 percent of Americans believe Obama’s claim that healthcare reform won’t add to the budget deficit, and only 7 percent believe that the stimulus has created any jobs at all. The report also criticized the president for being “indecisive” on Afghanistan, and for returning from his recent Asian trip “with little to show for it.” An expert was quoted as describing his trip as the “amateur hour,” as he did not line up agreements with foreign countries before venturing abroad.

But he said the scientists "frightening people witless by following the party line" are motivated by politics and research funding. "They are taking advantage of the current situation. That is understandable. In previous times people got wonderful research grants in a war against cancer and they achieved a lot of money for that. Now we have a war on climate change and we have a huge number of people out there who have their career staked on it and are beneficiaries of this process."
