POPSGrey logos When people add a bunch of logos to a web site it often looks unprofessional and cluttered. To make them all the same color - black and white - is a very good idea!

POPSTop Trends on Twitter while economy collapses Was just reading an article about Twitter's new search feature on http://www.readwriteweb.com and couldn't help but notice the list of top searches in the image below. i can't help but be amazed that in a time of such great economic difficulty, people are still more interested in the latest celebrity bullshit. i do believe (and hope) that this will change.

POPSBlog Action Day 2008 From the Blog Action web site: Blog Action Day is an annual nonprofit event that aims to unite the world’s bloggers, podcasters and videocasters, to post about the same issue on the same day. Our aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion. First and last, the purpose of Blog Action Day is to create a discussion. We ask bloggers to take a single day out of their schedule and focus it on an important issue. By doing so on the same day, the blogging community effectively changes the conversation on the web and focuses audiences around the globe on that issue. From the smallest online journals, to huge online magazines, to EU ministers, to professionals and amateurs, Blog Action Day is about mass participation. Anyone is free to join in on Blog Action Day and there is no limit on the number of posts, the type of posts or the direction of thoughts and opinions.

POPSMicrosoft Live Mesh is, umm, Live Admittedly, I don't know a lot about Microsoft's Live Mesh product. And judging by articles like this one posted at ReadWriteWeb, the current sync-and-store product is just the beginning. What I find interesting about Live Mesh is that it is built on open protocols. This means that developers can begin making products and services that live "on the Mesh". How soon we'll see this is anyone's guess, as are the applications themselves.

POPSOverview of the Micro-Blogosphere I'm doing some research on SMS messaging and micro-blogging and clipped this post for the long list of mobile social networking sites. However, this May 14th post is a good comprehensive look at the micro-blogging landscape.

POPSMaking the most of your RSS Reader from RWW I really dig this short article from RRW. These are things I have thought about, like oversubscribing - is it good or bad? Should I use multiple readers or just stick to one. I have 2 accounts one on bloglines and one on google. But sometimes i feel so overwhelmed with all the subscriptions I have that I just sort of stop reading. These are helpful tips and since next year we will be introducing RSS into the curriculum this might be some helpful pointers for students as well.

POPSWhat is the Buzz about? I was reading RWW and they posted this article on Yahoo Buzz. Does anyone out there know what this is? Do you use Digg? Would you switch? I kind of like the little bit that I am seeing of it. But I need more info so if you know...let me know. It's in Beta testing but the statistics are interesting - serious increase in hits and probably ad revenue. Thoughts?
