POPSBlackBerry Mates With Razr, Spawns A Flip BlackBerrys have never come in "flip" or "clamshell" form. Before the end of the year, apparently, they will--unless this is a big hoax. According to Boy Genius Report (a blog as fun as its name) RIM is planning a flip phone called the Kickstart--yes, along with a 3rd generation BlackBerry and a touchscreen BlackBerry. Buying patterns show that Americans greatly prefer clamshell phones to candybar or block-shaped handsets. But will they go for this one? Like the BlackBerry Pearl, this model squishes two letters on each key--a feature BlackBerry diehards abhor.

POPSTime for a change: Moto's CTO heads out, too This move makes sense. Padmasree Warrior had been closely aligned with Zander's program. Look for her to reappear, however. She's smart and experienced, particularly in chip technology. This wasn't her last act.

POPSRebate Check Is Not In The Mail "State Assemblyman Mike Feuer (D-Los Angeles) has another approach. His legislation, AB 1673, would give retailers a choice: Either they advertise a product at the higher, pre-rebate price to avoid any confusion, or they immediately honor the rebate at the cash register, rather than make customers go through the trouble (and uncertainty) of the mail-in process."

POPSVerizon Unleases new RAZR iPhone Killer, Or Not Verizon and Motorola have very quiet and very ignored for the last few months as the storm from the new iPhone is in full swing. Today comes the announcement of the next generation RAZR 2. Featuring an external display (amazing!) and touch sensitive keys and bluetooth support (didn't it already have that? or did they just de hobble it?) I'm underwhelmed. But maybe Verizon and the RAZR can grab people looking for a high quality "phone" that don't need to surf the 'web' and watch videos of dogs skateboarding.
