POPSNASA Peculiar Thermometer: Painting By Numbers ..10 second video...UAH Satellite Temperatures March, 2008 - looks cool Not surprisingly, the missing areas in Canada and Africa were cold. The NASA data thus becomes disproportionately weighted towards warm areas - particularly in the northern hemisphere. As can be seen in the UAH satellite map above, the warm areas actually made up a relatively small percentage of the planet. The vast majority of the earth had normal temperatures or below. Given that NASA has lost track of a number of large cold regions, it is understandable that their averages are on the high side. Additionally, NASA reports their global temperature measurements within one one-hundredth of a degree. This is a classic mathematics error, since they have no data from 20 per cent of the earth's land area. The reported precision is much greater than the error bar - a mistake which has caused many a high school student to fail their exams.

POPSMedia Ignores Kucinich Impeachment Push The piece goes on: Kucinich support John Kusumi responded angrily at OpEdNews, writing, "The most important thing going happened on Monday night. An event that matters greatly to the course of history and to all Americans. Did you hear about it? Did ABC, CBS, and NBC break into normal programming with special coverage? Are there special alerts and bulletins on the cable news networks, where people can see them? No, no, and no!" I just checked CNN's front page -- no mention of Kucinich. I did learn that more people are sleeping at work . CNN; news you can't possibly use.

POPSImpeachment Against Bush Introduced the Senate Intelligence report recently lends solid ground (see previous Clipmark): Article 1 - Creating a secret propaganda campaign to manufacture a false case for war against Iraq." Go to the Raw Story article to view the video of its introduction by Kucinich. Sad state of affairs, when a Congressman has to fight his own party Speaker to get the House to order and serious-mindedness about upholding the laws of the land!

POPSKucinich Presents Bush Impeachment Articles Raw Story has video and rush transcript. With this Congress -- who seem intent on making sure that Bush's crimes are never recognized, let alone punished -- I wouldn't hold my breath. Still, it's nice to see that someone in Washington has some concern for justice.

POPSRay gun microwaves demonstrators Harmlessly repels enemies ??? I can already see how enemy parties 'harmlessly repelling each other' becomes our new definition of peace. Is this one of the 'End of democracy and freedom' signs?

POPSMcCain's Two Positions on Wiretaps Yeah, about that position -- it's kinda new and kinda 180 degrees off his previous position. Wonder why? Raw Story : While McCain's position on wiretaps and telcos is zigging this way and that, a new report also details the extent to which lobbyists who earned a living representing the very phone companies accused of breaking the law are now working for his campaign. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, which is leading the charge against telco immunity and representing plaintiffs in several pending lawsuits, lays out the connections ... How awkward...

POPS9/11 Protester Arrested, Clinton Defends Official Story "an Osama bin Laden job", says Bill. Prove it Bill. The FBI has stated there is "no hard evidence linking bin Laden to 9/11"--Rex Tomb, FBI spokesman--which is why is Wanted poster at FBI does not list 9/11 attacks on his record. This is the most important and foundational issue for every present war, foreign policy, domestic spying, REAL ID, PATRIOT ACT, etc....and BOTH CORRUPT PARTIES support the IRRATIONAL AND CONTRADICTED story of who was behind 9/11! As long as THIS is believed a Democrat will be as bad as a Republican in the White House. People need to deal with this issue. It is fundamental to everything.

POPSYes Condi, It IS Relevant "Silence," my friend and colleague Andy Humm of Gay USA told Raw Story today, "gives consent." He is right. Of course, almost worse than silence, is when the rank hypocrisy shines through."

POPSHypocrisy: A sin the left almost recognizes. It appears that we have a Republican Senator not practicing what he preaches. No doubt his constituency will turn him out of office if he isn't forced to resign beforehand. It is a great opportunity to understand the difference between right and left. Bill Clinton SIGNED a sexual harassment law that said that "sexual harassment is determined by how the person harassed FEELS". The left had no problem with him defending himself with and beyond any shred of reason to save his skin and save raw political power. Conservatives won't give the political power a second thought. Principles are more important than power, because if you lose your principles that provide meaning beyond mere existence, then you really have you life. Your principles and spirit are about eternity, political power is for just as season. Are conservatives any "better"? No; only in the sense that they better understand the reality of our condition.

POPSAre GOP Leaders Leaking State Secrets? On one hand the GOP leadership (in the WH and the Congress) accuses the NYT and others of helping the enemy by giving away the farm, but then when it suits them the blabber like idiots. Not that this is not something the public should not know, but beware of glass houses....

POPSStudy: Native-born more likely to be jailed than immigrants But how can we reconcile the facts with the demographics? Butcher and Piehl show that given their demographics, we should expect immigrants to commit crimes at double the native rate. But for some reason(s), demographics yield a massive overprediction; immigrants commit crimes at one-tenth the expected rate given their demographics. Yes, if immigrants acted like otherwise similar natives, they were be ten times as criminal as they actually are. Why would this be so? The main theories that Butcher and Piehl explore: (1) Immigrants self-select for law-abiding behavior; (2) Immigrants are more responsive to deterrence than natives. Personally, the most plausible story to me is that immigrants feel lucky to be in the U.S. and don't want to forfeit their "big break," so they try extra-hard to stay out of trouble.

POPSTalk about obstructing justice The chutzpah of the Bush Admin truly knows no bounds (which I realize isn't much of a revelation, but still can't be pointed out often enough!) Now, in addition to their recent refusal to hand over documents subpoenaed by Congress, the White House is telling former aids not to testify, even though they've been subpoenaed! The notes below refer to Sara Taylor, who is alleged to have potentially valuable information regarding the questionable firings of several US Attorneys, but according to Raw Story , Harriet Miers has also been instructed not to testify. In the letter (referenced in the clip below) from Neil Eggleston, Taylor's attorney, he notes that she is currently caught between the subpoena for her testimony from Congress and orders from the President not to testify. These contrary directions undoubtedly create a monumental clash between the executive and legislative branches of
