POPSPelosi blocks vote on Bush request to lift ban... This is so typical of Pelosi and her fellow Democrats in Congress. She won't even allow it to be voted on!! She will do whatever it takes to continue to stonewall this Administration...no, the democratic system...with her refusal to allow the process to move and bring this to a vote. Why? Because she would lose! FTA: "In the House, the power rests in the speaker, the power of recognition, of setting the agenda. ... Very different rules,"

POPSPelosi: The Power Of One "In the House, the power rests in the speaker, the power of recognition, of setting the agenda. . . . Very different rules," Pelosi said. Acknowledging her ability to influence decision-making, Pelosi said in the CNN interview that she gets to operate differently than her Senate counterpart, Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada. Reid must reach out to Republicans to muster 60 votes — enough to stop a filibuster — to get anything done. It's an example of the vast power placed in the office of the speaker, who sets the agenda for the 435-member House. Members can force a vote if enough of them sign a petition, but that's a rarity because it requires rank-and-file Democrats to line up against their boss. In this case, Pelosi is going against a rising tide of public opinion. Faced with rapidly increasing gasoline prices, 73 percent of Americans now favor offshore drilling, according to a poll conducted by CNN/Opinion Research Corp.

POPSThree Orphaned Lion Cubs Being Bottle-Fed By Zookeepers
White lions are regarded as a rarity in the wild. In captivity, however, it seems a different story. In fact three white cubs were born to another lioness at the zoo in Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock, south-west of Hamburg, at exactly the same time. She however, was happy to raise her litter herself. Fortunately these two-week-old white lion cubs are in good hands with the zoo keepers adopting the maternal role. In captivity, both male and female lions, who are unusually social compared to other cats, can live for over 20 years. The German public has a soft spot for orphaned animals. Knut, the first polar bear born in Berlin Zoo for 30 years, became a national celebrity after his mother rejected him. Life, however, hasn't been easy for the bear who attracts at least 200 visitors a day. He is said to have become addicted to human attention. 'Knut is a problem bear who has become addicted to human beings,' German animal rights activist Frank Albrecht said.

POPSWelcome To Unemployed Loans Loans to unemployed people often carry an artificially high rate of interest. Because there is a short-term loans, is charged with a high degree of interest is not a rarity. A further push for the interest rate of unemployment is given by the borrower, and the resulting risk. By following the standard selection procedures and to base decisions on rational principles, borrowers will ensure that loans to unemployed successfully accomplish its purpose of providing financial support during unemployment.

POPSClick Fraud Problem Getting Better? Google and Yahoo's changes that decreased clicks seem to have been partly a result of better click fraud filtering. So now the question is, can Google take credit for solving a problem it has always denied existed?

POPSEverything's Bigger in Texas Wow! My daughter lives in Texas and sent me this article. I wish I could see this web! Shades of "Arachnophobia"? But it must have been beautiful and now it is helping trap millions of mosquitos. We could use that here in Costa Rica. Hemorrhagic Dengue is very bad this year. But at least we have millions of spiders spinning webs.
