POPSPass The Bill "First, it would prohibit discrimination by insurance companies on the basis of medical condition or history: Americans could no longer be denied health insurance because of a pre-existing condition, or have their insurance canceled when they get sick. Second, the bill would provide substantial financial aid to those who don’t get insurance through their employers, as well as tax breaks for small employers that do provide insurance. That’s an immense change from where we were just a few years ago: remember, not long ago the Bush administration and its allies in Congress successfully blocked even a modest expansion of health care for children. Look, I understand the anger here: supporting this weakened bill feels like giving in to blackmail — because it is. The question, then, is whether to pay the ransom by giving in to the demands of those senators, accepting a flawed bill, or hang tough and let the hostage — that is, health reform — die."

POPSPirates Set Up An Exchange to Manage Their Investments
"The shares are open to all and everybody can take part, whether personally at sea or on land by providing cash, weapons or useful materials ... we've made piracy a community activity." Haradheere, 400 km (250 miles) northeast of Mogadishu, used to be a small fishing village. Now it is a bustling town where luxury 4x4 cars owned by the pirates and those who bankroll them create honking traffic jams along its pot-holed, dusty streets. Somalia's Western-backed government of President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed is pinned down battling hard-line Islamist rebels, and controls little more than a few streets of the capital. The administration has no influence in Haradheere -- where a senior local official said piracy paid for almost everything. "Let the anti-piracy navies continue their search for us. We have no worries because our motto for the job is 'do or die'." Piracy investor Sahra Ibrahim, a 22-year-old divorcee, was lined up with others waiting for her cut of a ransom pay-out

POPSSomali pirates hijack US-bound tanker, the Maran Centaurus Do we have a Thomas Jefferson among us? And how about those patrols and drones actually DO something? Millions of dollars in oil (what's $$ to Obama)? The environmental concerns?? How about the lawlessness and extortion of peaceful commerce in the region? Oh...and the UN "is too busy fighting the Islamist insurgency" to bother with piracy? yeah, sure. :~(

POPSCanadian Amanda Lindhout freed in Somalia Lindhout said she was moved often during her kidnapping, held in about 11 different houses in different parts of the country. She said her kidnappers wanted $1 million from her family, something her family could not afford to pay.

POPSRed Teeth the Pirate...I Mean, Environmentalist And that those "80 luxury automobiles crowded the shore as friends and family members of pirates clamored to get a share of the ransom money" have nothing to do with real motives. We've seen this before. We've seen Al Sharpton call them the "voluntary coast guard." And we've seen the "white Rat," an Idi Amin henchman, describe them as "brave...fisherman...seamen and navigators. They had no choice but to take revenge on foreign shipping and earn a living by ransom demands." Seriously. Is this where we break into "Gee, Officer Krupke"? Colleague Howard Nemerov made another telling observation about all this in yesterday's Austin Gun Rights Examiner column: The New York Times downplayed the fact that guns were aboard the Alabama, hiding it within one paragraph among other methods employed in the ship’s defense: "But a security team on board the Maersk Alabama responded with small-arms fire, long-range acoustical devices painful to

POPSIraqis Terrorised by Child Kidnaps The authorities say they cannot provide figures for exactly how many kidnappings have taken place since the beginning of the year, but some estimates suggest the number could be as high as one per day. Brig Gen Faisal Mohsin, a senior police commander in Baghdad, told the BBC he believed at least some of the ransom money was funding insurgent activity. "Iraqi forces have become more professional now, and they are on high alert," he said, "pursuing all kinds of crime, and cutting off the sources that fund terrorism. So some of the terrorists have started financing their activities by kidnapping children." The situation has become so acute in Baghdad that the ministry of education has instructed schools to take special precautions.

POPSSponsored search results lead to malware If you're not sure, verify the URL. Microsoft and Google have large payrolls, but the search giants don't employ literal armies to review ad submissions. If you're at all suspicious of an ad's legitimacy, check the URL via a service such as hpHosts, which tracks domain names that researchers have reported as malicious. Help vendors by reporting malicious advertisers. To report bogus ads on Google, e-mail security at google.com. This is likely to be more effective than reporting the site via the search giant's online form. If you discover malware purveyors advertising in Bing's results, e-mail secure at microsoft.com. Yahoo, however, offers only a Security Phishing Report Form.

POPSChristian Angst Notable quotes: "As a Christian I would not have liked it if they had used verses from the Quran, and if I had known about it, I probably would not have approved of them doing so," Ransom said. "The issue for us is about freedom of expression of Christianity." "But if the girls had decided to use something from the Quran, I feel in our community they would've received negative feedback." It seems pretty clear what is bothering these people. The writer of the article goes on: "Therein lies the bigger question -- is it freedom of religion for the protestors in Fort Oglethorpe or freedom of their religion? If it's just their religion, how is that constitutional?" He poses a good question. It's obvious that the citizens of N. Georgia are not worried about anyone but themselves and their particular religious sect. The N. Georgia hills are indeed beautiful. The people, not so much.

POPSAgain, with the persecution? Once again we're presented a picture of people believing that their overwhelming majority faith is somehow being persecuted. In fact, what the whining is all about is the erosion of Christian privilege above all other faiths or non-belief. These sheep simply don't grasp the concept of a secular government actually being a benefit to their belief system. Instead they view it as an attack against their religion. Naturally, these attitudes are being advanced by a media subset that is reaping an enormous financial gain by manipulating these rubes with false claims of losing their freedoms and being persecuted by a non-existent, frightening subculture bent on destroying their faith. There's a fool born every minute.

POPSSiren falling on deaf ears Ther internet has been awash with erudite pieces and condemnation of ineptitude and incompetence by the British government, yet a vocal minority of pinkoe activists and blatant liars have held a once great nation to ransom. Call a puffter a name and you are sent to jail. Demand the rightsd of brave Britons to defend themselves and you are outcast and demonised. Come home a phyical wreck and you are worth a passing remark by Broon and his falacious brood. Come home in a pine box and only the wonderful people of Wooton Basset will give you the welcome you deserve. No wonder our kith and kin in Canada and Antipodes emigrated. Nothing is being said about the Christians being burned alive today in India by their Muslim neighbours. What a wonderful world.

POPSUS Navy warns of increased pirate activity Myself i can't understand it how nations permit it. They are there to do harm to you same as being kidnapped. You can see them coming. I now if i saw a kidnapper coming after me i would grab my 9mm and start firing.. Enough of the morality of it. Put security on all vessels, cost hell of a lot less then millions you pay in ransome to these thugs. Wait until they get right up along side of you and mow em down with machine guns. Better yet arms with short range rockets and blow them out of the water. After 2 or 3 incidents like this they would go back to herding sheep like they use to do. Have pity on them ? no not me. not in any shape. They want to resort to terror.... time to draw the line.

POPSDon't even give him title of soldier.. low life beady eyed scum does discredit to all the real soldiers that are a credit and fighting for this country. Being ex marine i suppose this kind of stuff pisses me off more then most. They were called slackers back when i was in. Hiding and doing the least they could get by with. Type that in heat of battle would run and hide until skirmish was over and then show himself. Wow from pfc to lt and then major.....what a ladder climb. Even Major winters (band of brothers) and real time hero didn't climb the ladder that fast. And what is worse is he really believes people fall for his crap. Only wish he was in when i was in, Being a door gunner in nam i am pretty sure we would of took him up to about 300 feet and he would of accidently fell out of the huey. To all you real soldiers and military i am sorry you have scum like this tarnishing great things you all do for us.
