POPSSuspect Major Hasan Said His Goodbyes Before Rampage
Kim Rosenthal, another neighbor, said Hasan didn't seem too upset by his scratched vehicle, even though it was damaged so badly that he got a new one. "He said it was Ramadan and that he had to forgive people," Rosenthal said. "He forgave him and moved on." Hasan appeared less forgiving to Dr. Val Finnell when they were classmates in a 2007-08 master's public health program at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. He said that at a class presentation by public health students, at which topics like dry cleaning chemicals and house mold were discussed, Hasan talked about U.S. military actions as a war on Islam. Hasan made clear he was a "vociferous opponent" of U.S. wars in Muslim countries, Finnell said. "He made himself a lightning rod for things," Finnell said. "No one picked on him because he was a Muslim." Law enforcement officials said they are trying to confirm if Hasan wrote Internet postings that include his name about suicide....

POPSPresident Obama Had Better Learn That Being Allergic To The Word “Victory” Has Serious Consequences
Since American soldiers are doing the vast majority of the dirty work, their per-capita death rate is still 1-1/2 to two times that of their counterparts in Iraq.) President Obama had better learn that being allergic to the word “victory” has serious consequences " and quickly. __________________________________________ Joseph Curl at the Washington Times recites some of the “distractions” that are apparently keeping Obama from paying proper attention to Afghanistan and carrying out his primary role as Commander in Chief: In the past month, the president has found the time to play golf " four times. He’s had links legend Arnold Palmer and other top golfers over to the White House. He’s shot some hoops with friends and yukked it up with hockey’s Pittsburgh Penguins. He’s celebrated Ramadan at the White House, eulogized newsman Walter Cronkite in New York City, attended several fundraisers (including Thursday afternoon’s luncheon), appeared on David Letterman's . . .

POPS9-11: The Desecration So our State Dept. is being told to make the Day about Islam/Muslims. "...at the same time, Obama would be seeking to prosecute CIA agents for keeping this country safe after the most heinous attack on American soil in the history of the United States. He will begin criminal proceedings to jail great patriotic Americans who worked to stop the next wave of 9-11 attacks on the world's greatest nation." No wonder half of America does not trust this man or the Congress that supports him.

I guess it's because Muslims don't eat during the day during Ramadan. They fast during the day and eat at night. Sorta like cockroaches."

POPSWhite Voters, Easy Marks For Controversy Stokers
proposed healthcare overhaul, in which some conservatives accused him of socialism. Obama’s ratings seem likely to rise again if he wins passage of healthcare legislation this fall. One such episode came to a head Sunday when Van Jones, Obama’s green jobs czar, resigned after a week of criticism over past inflammatory statements and for signing onto conspiracy theories questioning whether the U.S. government played a role in the Sept. 11 attacks. In another episode, some conservatives have criticized a White House dinner invitation issued to the lead lawyer in the American Civil Liberties Union lawsuits that have forced the government to disclose Bush-era interrogation techniques. The lawyer was invited to an event for the Muslim holiday of Ramadan. And Obama’s plan to address the nation’s schoolchildren Tuesday has prompted an outcry among some conservative parents and GOP officials. Some of them have accused the White House of trying to infuse “socialism”

POPSThe Valerie Jarrett Show the leftist group Jones helped to found, and which launched the advertiser boycott against Fox News host Glenn Beck. The counsel's office places part of the blame on the Office for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement, which is overseen by Obama Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President Valerie Jarrett. "This wasn't simply Valerie Jarrett rubberstamping her guy," says a White House source. But Jarrett did view Jones as a critical member of the administration for her outreach efforts, in part, because he was so well known and respected in the radical-left world Playing to those types is another reason Jarrett's office approved the invitation of Jameel Jaffer, who runs the ACLU's "national security project," to the White House Ramadan dinner last week. Jaffer, a Canadian citizen, attended the dinner, which President Obama said was being held for American Muslims. Jaffer is a cause célèbre to the far left for his career of litigating against

POPSBo, the White House Dog 'Dumped' The baths, used up to 5 times a day during the spiritual holiday, before each prayer call, became a constant chore for the Secret Service Agents delegated to insure that the bath water was always at the right temperature, and purer than the bottled imported water favoured by the First Lady. Bo, the lovable retriever, who remained largely ignored after the first few photo ops in the rose garden, was forced to entertain himself due to lack of attention. Imagine his delight, when during investigation for discarded chicken and rib bones under the Obama Dining Table, he was able to find 17 private pools for his canine delight! Bo, who is black, is said to be happy in his new home and doesn't feel that his 'dumping' was racially motivated.

POPSRamadan Tradition: Algerian Women Choose Poetry Over Sitcoms "Even though we knew it had no powers of prediction, we believed the messages that the bouqala gave us," said the elder woman, as her daughter Hind listened attentively. "We were young dreamers, and when a bouqala told us we were going to meet a handsome man, we wanted to believe it." For her part, Hind keeps a booklet in which she has written down all the poems that her grandmother knows. "I think this heritage shouldn't be lost," said Hind. "It has survived for all these years because women have jealously guarded it. That's what I'm trying to do now by noting down all the poems." "I've even recorded several cassettes," she added. "I keep these audio tapes and listen to them constantly. This is my favorite one: The almond tree blossoms in the spring, The Moon discovers its light, Cheeks blush with modesty Before the lover who gives himself away."

POPSWomen Under Islamic Rule Malaysia is a country under Islamic law, meaning a country that grants full human rights to its citizens provided they have a penis. Are Malaysian men so violent and sex obsessed that they must employ harsh, punitive laws to women because they can't take personal responsible for themselves? Apparently so. Some people may attempt to defend this practice as cultural and who are we to meddle into other's cultures. Hogwash! The denial of basic freedoms based on outmoded theistic tenets is wrong. Humans, of either sex, ought to receive equal treatment under the law. That is a moral imperative.

POPSJust for Drinking a Beer At least they're going to use a smaller cane this time, and not just because it is a woman offender, but a very strict government ruled by the religious community. This is one more reason to love America. Keep the church where it belongs, and out of government and law enforcement! The woman said in an interview, that she accepts the caning, because "I want to respect the law". Well then why did she go to a public place and drink in front of everyone? From the sound of things, maybe this hotel had a reputation for breaking the rules, and she thought she was in a safe place. Since the article said she was caught in a "raid" on the place. The reason this is newsworthy is that she is the first woman to actually be caned for this. A giant step backward. Amnesty International condemned the sentence and many critics stated that this might harm Malaysia's reputation for being a moderate Muslim majority country.
