POPSScience Research Needs Continuity Science Research needs continuity that cannot be found through the use of a market forces model. This article sums up the setback in alternative source energy research which happened in the 1980's. We may now be ready to set things right, f we continue to fund scientific research for alternative energy sources, such as algae. Carefully read the story of how we, yes we, abandoned alternative sources of energy and played our fiddles while the oil burned up our economy. Ooops! Now we bemoan the fact. On the positive side, one thing is different now, and that is the ability of people, including scientists, to get their message across without the help of traditional media. Journalists and their bosses failed miserably to report on these issues, so greedy people who only look out for themselves were able to bring us, as a nation, to our knees with the high price of energy and the destruction of our economy.

POPSFight On! Leaves Him No Choice But To Win in Afghanistan Well, for starters because it’s considered Dem accompli … not least by the GOP. There’s an element of cold harsh reality in that. This is an electorate that remained largely asleep and disinterested when lawmakers, taking their cue from the 70-30 vote against a ballot measure to phase out the income tax, raised taxes. I would have thought the GOP would be more interested in kicking off the 2010 election season with a good showing, if not a win, in bluest Mass. Those are sheep guts that all the soothsayers would want a look at.

POPSA Reid too far?
“Reid ducked several national questions. On whether he would ‘opt out’ of the public option if the Senate health-care bill his father has written becomes law, he answered that he has no idea what the eventual health-care law would entail. ‘I’m not going to get into what the law might be.’ Regarding whether he supported President Obama’s troop increase to Afghanistan, Reid replied that he’s running for governor of Nevada, not federal office. ‘That policy is best left to the president.’ He also declined to talk about his father’s Senate race. ‘I think you should ask him to handicap his own race.’” The National Republican Senate Committee quickly jumped on the stories, sending mailings to Nevada journalists. Though Rory Reid said nothing against his father in the press interviews, the GOP mailing was headed, “Not exactly a vote of confidence from Harry Reid’s own son.” And Las Vegas columnist Jon Ralston posted a piece headlined “Reids’ national media misadventures …” that said, “But t

POPSPregnancy Miracle Book: Pregnancy Miracle - A Bundle of God's Creation That Can Be Achieved Through
Pregnancy is a boon that God has gifted mankind in order to get ahead our race and to ensure women the most sublime of happiness. Since ages, women's lives have revolved around the birth of their child and bringing them up. Which woman would like to be deprived of the happiness of motherhood? There are plenty of women who have gone through never ending bouts of harmful medication that has left them bloated, hormonally unstable and yet, nothing else to show at the end of it. The desperation to have a baby to call their own, has even led many to go in for surgeries that has left visible scars not mentioning the scars left behind on their psyche. But, to no avail. Until they happened to come across the book called - Pregnancy Miracle. From then onwards life certainly changed for them. There was no looking back and they wondered why someone didn't guide them to it beforehand. It would have saved them years of hardship and trauma if they had known about the existence of the Pregnancy M

POPSThe trouble with diversity: celebrating difference doesn't reduce inequality More: If you're worried about the growing economic inequality in American life, if you suspect that there may be something unjust as well as unpleasant in the spectacle of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, no cause is less worth supporting, no battles are less worth fighting, than the ones we fight for diversity… Our identity is the least important thing about us. And yet, it is the thing we have become most committed to talking about. From the standpoint of a left politics, this is a profound mistake since what it means is that the political left -- increasingly invested in the celebration of diversity and the redress of historical grievance -- has converted itself into the accomplice rather than the opponent of the right.

POPS GOP Trifecta? But it can be difficult to draw broader conclusions from off-year contests, which often turn on local issues. ************************************************** Revolt in New York Beltway bigs misjudged public dismay against the Democratic agenda in Washington. Picked by GOP elites without a primary and with a voting record to the left of many Albany Democrats, Ms. Scozzafava faced a revolt by local and national conservatives in favor of businessman Doug Hoffman, who was nominated on the Conservative Party line. The longtime GOP assemblywoman saw herself falling in the polls and yesterday endorsed Democratic lawyer Bill Owens, who could still win the GOP-leaning seat with a plurality. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703932904574509633956777194.html?mod=loomia&loomia_si=t0:a16:g2:r4:c0.0565713:b28671837

POPSCampbell wants to see more black models from Hollyhood.
Naomi Campbell has hit out at fashion label bosses, accusing them of snubbing black and Asian models. Campbell broke down barriers when she became the first black model to appear on the cover of the French edition of Vogue in 1988, later repeating the feat in the magazine's, UK, Japanese and Chinese issues. But she insists that 20 years on there are still few opportunities for models who don't have "blond hair and blue eyes". In a message to fans on her blog, the supermodel writes, "Sadly, I don't see enough black women or any other non-white race in big advertising campaigns. As I have said before, companies are not putting girls of colour in their campaigns especially in the panic of the recession. "During any recession, it is at times like these that the companies should be open-minded and come up with inspiring concepts. I love blonde hair and blue eyes but the world is also made up of other colours that are just as inspiring and exciting and should be incorporated in campaign

POPSObama Girls Spared Maoist Vaccination Indoctrination Wow. That’s a pretty loaded blog title. Maoist indoctrination? Hmmm. Well, I don’t buy into it being an excuse to declare martial law and enslave the white race. That’s a bit of a stretch. Engineered plague? Only if you buy into the martial law and enslavement thing, yeah I can see you believing this one too. But what really bites me is this swine flu vaccination is being shoved down our throat, and up our noses, under the guise of a national emergency while not nearly as many people have died from H1N1 as have those who get the regular flu every year and the Obama kids are not even going to be vaccinated. What’s up with that Mr. and Mrs. Obama? A money making scam for Big Pharma? Now this is a conspiracy I can sink my teeth into.

POPSThe Crisis of Global Land Use
Meeting these huge new agricultural demands will be one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. At present, it is completely unclear how (and if) we can do it. If this wasn't enough, we must also address the massive environmental impacts of our current agricultural practices, which new evidence indicates rival the impacts of climate change. Consider the following. Already, we have cleared or converted more than 35 percent of the earth's ice-free land surface for agriculture, whether for croplands, pastures or rangelands. In fact, the area used for agriculture is nearly 60 times larger than the area of all of the world's cities and suburbs. Since the last ice age, nothing has been more disruptive to the planet's ecosystems than agriculture. What will happen to our remaining ecosystems, including tropical rainforests, if we need to double or triple world agricultural production, while simultaneously coping with climate change? Yes, it is an inconvenient truth as the origi

POPSU.N. to consider Israeli War Crimes Report This clip is background to this U.N. decision, announce hours ago. There is also mentioned Hamas did a war crime, alleged to aim rockets in civilian areas. Over a thousand Palestinian civilians were killed in the last Gaza Strip invasion; 3 Israeli civilians killed. Note: the U.S. kills dozens of civilians every week. They just say: "We didn't mean it." The real issues are policies of genocide in the deliberate destruction of Palestinian water supplies and infrastructure, sewage plants, electrical supplis, destruction of industries and farmland, livestock, prohibition on fishing, travel, emprisoned in the Strip, blockade of needed goods including supplies for rebuilding, etc. -- policies designed to totally destroy and/or remove a population based on race.

POPSObama and Racism: Head in the Sand? The political reality is that Obama and his advisers must know that racial tension and the absence of national leadership fostering a national discussion of race issues in our country is the Sword of Damocles dangling over this presidency. If the mere act of a reporter like Maureen Dowd reconsidering her ideas and coming forward with an indictment can cause a media frenzy, how much more so the first African American president? It will be worth it. Long after medical care has changed to the point that this era looks like bloodletting and leaches, long after the US economy has shifted and adapted, gone through reforms and reboots, this administration and this president will be remember for one thing above all else: Obama will forever be either the man who healed this septic wound that runs across the back of this nation, or the man who turned away from the mirror to solve more "practical" issues.

POPSSteele denounces 'race card' Glad that he is stepping forward...as are several black bloggers. But no matter what the GOP or conservatives do many will continue to believe the Liberal dogma because it keeps them in victim-mode and provides the division that the Dems need to retain their influence.

POPSRacial Simmer It's not talked about (except Carter's comment). But it needs to be. Bring it out in the open and shout it from the mountaintops. Racism is alive and well, albeit below the surface for the most part. But it is acting like the driving force. The hidden engine, if you will, of the hate and shouting emanating from the Right these days. The message from these KKK wannabees is clear. The President is not one of us. He is to be feared. He's not fit for the job. It has nothing to do with facts. The people protesting, for the most part, are angry because a black man is their leader and they just can't wrap their small minds around that. The continuance of this hate and bigotry makes me profoundly sad and worried for our country.

POPSDisaster: Tyler Perry to Write, Prouduce and Directed Ntozake Shange's Choreopoem For Colored Girls
Jezebel's Latoya Peterson had a similar reaction to the news, asking "Is Tyler Perry the Right Man to Tell Black Women's Stories?" Directing? Fine. Producing? Cool. But writing and adapting it? From someone who writes flat, two-dimensional woman characters in all of his work? Even under the best of circumstances, I would be skeptical of a black man tackling a project like this. To bring Shange's vision to light would take an understanding of why this work of art is so deeply intertwined with black women's articulation of their own struggles under racist, patriarchal oppression — something that unfortunately, many still deny to this day. Black women's voices are often lost in discussions of race (because all the blacks are men) and discussions of gender (because all women are white) and Ntozake Shange was beyond brave to put down all of these ideas and present them for public consumption even in the face of heavy criticism from black men when the play was released.[

POPSGlenn Beck, Van Jones and Race Regarding Obama, he has had immense difficulty seeing past the president's skin. He said Obama was elected because of race instead of his policies. http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200906080010 He has portrayed the Democratic health care reform effort as "the beginning of reparations." http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200907220015 He has said that Obama plans to "settle old racial scores through new social justice." http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200907240012 So it should have come as no surprise when Beck, who believes it is actually Obama, not himself, who "has real issues with race," http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200907270045 said the president had "exposed himself as a guy" with "a deep-seated hatred for white people." http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200907280008 The next day, he said "I think the president is a racist." http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200907290012 The Color of Change boycott started soon afterward. http://colorofchange.org/beck/

POPSGovernor's Race Erupts Over McDonnell's Past Views:Ladies drop the shoes and go back to the kitchen In the thesis, "The Republican Party's Vision for the Family: The Compelling Issue of The Decade," McDonnell described working women as "detrimental" to the traditional family. He criticized a U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing contraception for unmarried couples and decried the "purging" of religion from schools. He advocated character education programs in public schools to teach "traditional Judeo-Christian values," and he criticized federal tax credits for child care expenditures because they encouraged women to enter the workforce.

POPSExposed - The system's attempt to stir up racism This whole Farcical race issue needs to stop it is ridiculous and the last resort of people who have no other comeback. This is so similar to how other dictators pushed themselves into power it is scary and with the 22nd amendment destroying bill, H. J. RES. 5, He could be just that For if it passes He could legally make himself president for life due to the the two term limit being lifted. I can hear cries of "but we won't vote him in again then." my answer to that would be Bush wasn't voted in twice He stole both elections.

POPSAura Dazzles, But It Takes Persuasion To Close The Deal
But it turns out that Obama is not so good at argument. Inspiration is one thing, persuasion another. He created the impression on the campaign trail that he was familiar with major issues and readily ticked off his positions on them. But he has not proved so good at legislating. One reason, perhaps, is that he has had little practice. He served as a legislator for a dozen years before becoming president, but was only rarely an active one. He spent one of his eight years as an Illinois state senator running unsuccessfully for Congress and two of them running successfully for U.S. senator. He spent two of his years in the U.S. Senate running for president. During all of his seven non-campaign years as a legislator, he was in the minority party. In other words, he's never done much work putting legislation together -- especially legislation that channels vast flows of money and affects the workings of parts of the economy that deeply affect people's lives.

POPS A Post-Racial President? by Thomas Sowell
Anyone who can believe that Obama did not understand what the racist rants of Jeremiah Wright meant can believe anything. With race-- as with campaign finance, transparency and the rest-- Barack Obama knows what the public wants to hear and that is what he has said. But his policies as president have been the opposite of his rhetoric, with race as with other issues. As a state senator in Illinois, Obama pushed the "racial profiling" issue, so it is hardly surprising that he jumped to the conclusion that a policeman was racial profiling when in fact the cop was investigating a report received from a neighbor that someone seemed to be breaking into the house that Professor Gates was renting in Cambridge. For those who are interested in facts-- and these obviously do not include President Obama-- there has been a serious study of racial profiling in a book titled "Are Cops Racist?" by Heather Mac Donald. Her analysis of the data shows how this issue

POPSDoctors Demand Apology From Obama Of course, no one in the media is reporting this in favor focusing on the 'race issue'. The news conference on Wednesday night lasted an hour. Many things were said - but still no actual facts or figures. We still don't know what the "PLAN" looks like or will actually cost. We DO know that Obama has no problem speaking out of turn on topics he knows nothing about. Like the 'acted stupidly' comment, he misrepresented and maligned another group in America - Doctors. In truth, I don't mind him making ridiculous statements. They prove that he is ill-equipped to tackle these issues and uninformed about the facts. I'm tired of all the liberal cheer-leading... I want the truth. Is the health system in trouble? Yep. Is government run health care the answer? Let me introduce you to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. My answer is Nope.

POPSRELIGIOUS MERGER CREATES 900 MILLION HINJEWS "Surprisingly, it's not the big issues, like is there one God or are there many? It's the little things," said New York City Hinjew Nathan Feldman. POPSA Hate Crimes Thought Experiment "I already addressed this sort of nonsensical claim last week, pointing out that things like pedophilia and bestiality are still crimes and passage of hate crimes legislation will have no impact on that because the two issues are utterly unrelated, despite the Right's insulting attempts to conflate the two. The current law merely adds "sexual orientation" to the list of protections, along with things like religion, race, and color, which are currently protected. And, as the re-written paragraph above makes clear, nobody has being turned into a felon under current existing law for rebuffing the Right or speaking out against their agenda ... just as the Right won't be turned into felons if the new hate crimes legislation becomes law."
