The East Coast Condo Bible
onlinedesign
by onlinedesign  10-9-2008    1
I just found the mother load of east coast condo living, quite by accident, at that! Every year my hubby and I make the journey to our favorite condo destination for two weeks of nothing but GLORY. We go to our condo in Perdido Key, Gulf Shores. We call it "Our Blue Heaven". White sand. Clean beaches. Good Neighbors. Lately, our vacation time has come later in the year during inclement weather. I was looking for an affordable place to take a holiday...and poof - I found the honey-pot of all condo living sites. This company has few places to rent that are near and dear to my heart like "ILoveFolly Beach.com" - what a find. It's like the east caost condo bible. Everything you always wanted to know about traveling to a southern beach vacation condo...and then some.

Writer's Digest 101 Best Sites Awards for 2008
revenantdm
by revenantdm  7-25-2008
There was NO way I was going to try and clip all of these sites but they are ALL worthwhile to any beginning writer or even a journeyman writer who has been out of the game for a while. I did not even go through the entire list but chose bits and pieces from the first half or so. Many say that there is no way that a writer can be discovered or get free advice. Here is some free advice. Enter Contests. Enter EVERY Contest you are eligible for. Wjen you look on the list and see the Horror Writer's Association link (Horror.org) I want you to know that this last Halloween, I found out just a half-hour before the deadline that a contest was running. I found an old story, dusted it off and entered it with 15 minutes to spare. I won. 1st Prize. My story was eventually printed in Rue Morgue magazine and now I am writing for a publisher under contract! Who'd a thunk it?

Google loses Belgian newspapers over the copyright
luixxiul
by luixxiul  2-14-2007
Let's see the final part; "If a newspaper does not want to be part of Google News, we remove their content from our index". And, this may be said like in this way: "Unless a newspaper doesn't want to be part of Google News, we don't remove their content from our index" Who do they think who they are? They aren't government, and what they're doing shall be business, not governance of the Internet.

WebCite: Free web archiving for scholarly writers
enbar
by enbar  1-28-2007    1
Scholarly publications often cite webpages these days, but then they disappear. You can archive your cited pages at WebCitation.org and then cite the archived version. No linkrot. It's free. I can't believe i didn't know about it until now.

SF Author: Peter Benchley
skwirlinator
by skwirlinator  4-1-2006
Publisher's Weekly An alcoholic upper-middle-class WASP sent to a posh clinic to dry out witnesses the hypocritical behavior of the clinic's director. According to PW , Benchley's ``plot may be muddled, but his writing is vigorous and observant . '' Library Journal When New York editor Scott Preston needs two double vodkas to start the day, his wife and his boss (threatening loss of marriage and job) ship him off to a rehab center. At the Banner Clinic, rummies and junkies--among them a movie star, a professional athlete, and a mobster--face hard truths and rough treatment, with no expletives deleted. Successful WASP-stereotype Preston is first alienated, then joins in the camaraderie, becomes infatuated with aristocratic addict Priscilla Godfrey, and is drawn into subplots: the mysterious death of a glamorous film star and recent Banner graduate; the abrupt firing of two counselors; and the abuse of Priscilla by clinic-founder Stone Banner, a charismatic ex-cowboy movie st
