POPSThe Miming of the Olympics Perhaps nothing you see in beijing now is not phony, and it's hardly surprising given the communist history of the country... in fact, isn't the present infrastructure of China, in most aspects, simply nothing but a big lousy joke? it's only a bit dissapointing that Chen Qigang was behind this, the multi-award winning composer who studied in Paris conservatoire and with the great Olivier Messiaen, isn't he supposed to be the good guy among the other dumbass communists?

POPSBloomberg calls for a new New Deal A great piece by Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg. I think this man is one of the country's greatest assets - i sure hope we find a way to empower him. He has, in my opinion, been a great mayor for new york city.

POPSSan Jose Leading the Way I'm very proud to see San Jose leading the way on this effort, being the first major city to implement electric car charging stations. Because not everyone has easy access to power outlets in their homes - especially people who live in apartment complexes - this type of system will help make electric cars more of a reality.

POPSSmall Fuel Refinery for Ten Grand. Feed stock, used to make the fuel, will cost about $1 per gallon, he said. ... “Henry Ford started the automobile revolution using ethanol, predicting that this renewable and accessible fuel would become the ‘fuel of the future,’ ” he said during the May launch of the Microfueler. “If not for the Prohibition laws in the 1920s and the subsequent rise of the oil industry, ethanol may never have lost its public appeal. E-Fuel will deliver on Ford’s prediction and enable consumers to bypass the costly oil infrastructure and their reliance on fossil fuels.” Butterfield is excited to be working in the field of alternative fuels again. He’s convinced that this time around, the oil market is not going to stabilize and prices will continue to rise. “I thought in 1980 the world was running out of oil. All the signs were there,” he said. “That was true back then, it’s just we were able to stave it off for 25 years. Now we can’t.”

POPSOne Jew Terrorist is not more important than 10,000 Kidnapped Palestinian They really do think they are superior. Anyone else in the world pulling this crap, it is called what it in fact is - racial supremacy. No matter who does it, it is extremely sick and twisted. No matter how many adherents to such ideology, it is delusion at best - grossly criminal at worst. They do it shamelessly as if they do not even include the word in their decadent vocabulary. Humanity does not get much more evil than the crimes of Israel. The Nazis were some pretty fucked up folks, but Israel one-ups the Nazis in sheer cruelty and fanaticism.

POPSTrouble in Public-Private Toll Road Paradise? In the document they RiskMetrics Group, an international corporate governance service ] authored is a report titled, "Infrastructure Funds: Managing, Financing and Accounting; In Whose Interest?" The 39-page report details a host of concerns and issues that should give pause to anyone who thinks PPP infrastructure deals are free of serious risk. We hope government officials at both the federal and state level will carefully study the RiskMetrics report. As we all know tremendous pressure is being applied by the Federal Highway Administration to push state government into public-private partnerships deals, partnerships we fear will lead to disaster. We also hope this report will give rise to a greater examination of the financial impact these partnerships will have on the public. Special caution must be exercised to ensure that public infrastructure such has highways, rails, and utilities serve the public interest above any private interest.

POPSIt's the end of the wor;d as we know it For the first time since the Spanish influenza of 1918, life expectancy is falling for a significant number of American women. In nearly 1,000 counties that together are home to about 12 percent of the nation's women, life expectancy is now shorter than it was in the early 1980s, according to a study published today. "I think this is a harbinger. This is not going to be isolated to this set of counties, is my guess," said Christopher J.L. Murray, a physician and epidemiologist at the University of Washington who led the study. It is being published in PLoS Medicine, an open-access journal of the Public Library of Science. The study found a smaller decline, in far fewer places, in the life expectancy of men in this country. In all, longevity is declining for about 4 percent of males. The phenomenon appears to be not only new but distinctly American. "If you look in Western Europe, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, we don't see this," Murray said.

POPS Cyber-Security::Ignore At Your Peril
The security software industry has taken particular notice of the rapid development of innovative ways to evade security protection. In January 2008, more than 40 security software technologists and anti-malware testers from throughout the world met in Spain to formalize the charter of the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organization. This group's goal is to improve the quality and objectivity of anti-malware technology testing to consequently develop more effective products to prevent infectious cyber attacks. In 2008, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the first "mandatory and enforceable" reliability standards addressing cyber security on the United States bulk power system. "The Mandatory Reliability Standards for Critical Infrastructure Protection" are industry-wide reporting standards that require certain users, owners and operators of bulk power systems to establish policies to safeguard physical and electronic access to control systems, train personnel......

POPSIsraeli Report on 2006 War on Lebanon Admits Failure ...but it sets the stage for a new war and fails to condemn the unjust war waged against Lebanon (retaliating against Lebanon's just capture of Israeli spies within their border) by bombing and destroying 70 percent of Lebanon's infrastructure, including electricity and roads, and the the indiscriminate killing of its citizens. This partial report only admits Israel's defeat and sets the stage for another war, which of course the Zionist neocons desire for their "new middle east".

POPSLet growth cater to need, not want "trickle-down economics has been unable to eliminate poverty, they say, and "should be replaced with programs that redistribute income directly." My choice would be for a guaranteed annual income. In addition, they say consumption should be focused less on acquiring private goods, and more on improving public life – with expenditures aimed at services, restoring and enhancing the environment, and refurbishing and expanding infrastructure. Theirs is a prescription for low, possibly even no growth, but also for a comfortable standard of living.'

POPSLegal Argument Against Surveillance and Homeland Tyranny The expansion of surveillance camera, which record "free citizens", particularly on public roads and intersections is on the increase while Americans are distracted by frivolous entertainment, sports, and trivial pursuits. It threatens our very liberties and will not go away unless it is directly and forthrightly challenged based upon the supreme law designed to restrain such government encroachments imbedded in the Bill of Rights in the Constitution. I just researched this document and found it a very compelling legal argument, presented by a law professor in an open forum to the Dept. of Homeland Tyranny (aka Security). It is well worth reading, passing on, and making use of in your own city, state, and county governments to defend your freedom from a rising fascist police state that represents Totalitarianism under the plea of "security".

POPSCurrent situation in Brazil This article is a great analysis of the current economic and social situation in Brazil. The whole thing is worth a read. The clipped portions offer just a taste of the author's observations.
