By completing an accredited online psychology degree you have so many choices for the type of careers you could become involved in. Psychology has been very popular among students for many decades now. This is generally because psychology offers insights into everyday behaviors and personal life. It is also very sought after because there are a range of excellent advanced degrees available and there are so many different career options available. With the ever improving power of the internet and an expansion in online education, there are even more selections and outlets than there has been in the past.

With so much of this going on (iTunes Store has iTunes U as well, and there must be others) why even bother going to a university for much of a degree? Shouldn't there be a reduced tuition for those who can pass a competency exam based on self-paced online study? Sort of an Internet University BA?

I personally recommend Professor Shelley Kegan's "Philosophy of death" class. It's a very interesting set of videos. You watch the entire course in your browser with good audio and video. He also gets into Plato's phaedo. Have a look!

Watch UC Berkeley Lectures (entire courses) Online, Free, Now.
lordthor541
by lordthor541  3-17-2008
from anthropology to electrical engineering to geography to history to english to math to physics - Just about every class Berkeley offers. There's a drop down list at the top right, select a semester to see what classes are available. Each one has new classes. Personally I recommend Professor Muller's "Descriptive Introduction to Physics". He's a brilliant physicist and a great teacher. After that I'd recommend the "Modern Physics" class. You watch all the lectures as if you were sitting inside the classroom. The best part is, it's all legal! AND if you wanted a degree, you could watch all the lectures, study the coursenotes (also available online for free) - and then challenge the course once you know the material. pass the test and basically get a free degree. haha

Advice to College Students: Don't major in English
caoilfhionn
by caoilfhionn  10-16-2007    1
"Progressive" education now means English majors no longer study Shakespeare or consider the great thinkers and writers of the past. What a shame....what a shame that people think they're actually getting an "education"; what they're really getting is 'indoctrination' to a worldview that is radically opposed to American thought and values.

Massive Modularity and Brain Evolution - paper by Edouard Machery
Djiezes
by Djiezes  12-4-2006
Abstract Quartz (2002) argues that some recent findings about the evolution of the brain (Finlay & Darlington, 1995) are inconsistent with evolutionary psychologists’ massive modularity hypothesis. In substance, Quartz contends that since the volume of the neocortex evolved in a concerted manner, natural selection did not act on neocortical systems independently of each other, which is a necessary condition for the massive modularity of our cognition to be true. I argue however that Quartz’s argument fails to undermine the massive modularity hypothesis.
