Freedom Towers - Socialist Government in Action
willhelm
by willhelm  7-6-2008    4
"We can count on government planners to produce the most inefficient projects conceivable by the human mind. Manhattan’s Freedom Tower, intended to rise on the site of 9/11 destruction, is an egregious example . . . ...New York City, the nation’s most socialistically ingrained municipality, in the nation’s premier socialist state, has a long history of public works boon-doggles, of which the Freedom Tower is just the latest. The standard government-planning way to do this is to spend the maximum possible amount of public funds, for the longest possible time, and employ the maximum possible number of unionized workers at the highest imaginable wages. This promotes full employment for voters and life-time tenure for politicians holding the benefits slop buckets at the public pig-feeding trough..." Good grief I'm glad I don't live in that Hell hole of a state.

Pride and Progress: How Far America Has Come In The Last 40 Years
gingembre
by gingembre  7-5-2008    3
food for thought from Jonah Lehrer a bit more: "Over time, these conscious limits on language helped re-engineer our unconscious beliefs, allowing people to slowly purge themselves of obsolete stereotypes. (We tend to think of the unconscious as the domineering elephant of the mind, but sometimes the feeble rider manages to steer the beast in the right direction.) Of course, the unconscious remains a murky and biased place, but I think white Americans have shown that it can be amended, that simply altering the ways in which we refer to people can, over time, change what we secretly think of people."

Olbama's Tax Plan Designed To Appeal To Class Envy
merrie
by merrie  7-3-2008    1
That $40 billion tax hike alone is twice as much as all the federal taxes paid by the 39 million Americans in the bottom quintile. We're sure that Obama's camp would address our concerns by pointing out that raising the tax bill for the top 1% eases the tax burden on the rest of America. But that's a superficial rationalization designed to appeal to class envy. First, increasing the burden on the top taxpayers will not make the poor rich, but instead make the rich poorer. There will be 131 billion fewer dollars in the private sector for investments that create businesses and jobs. Second, squeezing the federal tax burden onto an ever smaller group is not smart. The Marxist appetite for radically progressive taxation is both unfair and dangerous. Third, the large majority that pays little or no taxes will make excessive demands on the small group that is saddled with the burden because the non- and low-paying group is insulated from the pain.

The Nazi War on Cancer
willhelm
by willhelm  7-1-2008    1
"Proctor reveals then that the war against Jews and the war on cancer were not that far apart, having grown out of the same Nazi ideology. If that is true, he further posits, what are we to make of so much of the "progressive" health reforms put forth by the Nazis, ideas that echo today's push against smoking and alcohol and toward improved diet, exercise, and "clean living"? He sees as the answer not so much the need to refute the ideas themselves but the opportunity to see Nazism in its full complexity, good and evil together. " And, get this: "It is only by acknowledging and examining this "flip side of fascism," Proctor suggests, that we can really understand the appeal of such totalitarianism. "

Group Of US Mayors Calling For An Import Ban On Canadian Oil
merrie
by merrie  6-28-2008    5
specifically the lucrative oilsands of the Northern part of the province. The concept is still relatively unknown to most people outside of the province. Using cutting edge thinking and current technology oil is separated from sand dug out of the ground. The oilsands have always been here, but it has only been in the last while that the technology existed that would allow this kind of process. The enviroNazi movement in the Great White North, led by Canada’s national Nature Boy and our answer to Al Gore, David Suzuki, has long had it’s crosshairs on Alberta’s Progressive Conservative government and what is perceived as their lack of environmental concern and pro-business bias. Now, the latest attack on Alberta’s oil industry has come from outside our borders. The simmering of negative press in the United States has been blown up into a full fire with a recent resolution passed by group of U.S. mayors, laughably calling for an import ban on our province’s oil.

Obama: It's Only About Winning
merrie
by merrie  6-25-2008    2
But here's what's scary: For all of Kerry's reputed smoothness and Eastern intellect, he often tied himself in knots trying to reconcile his absurdly opposing positions. Obama can flip and flop with unmatched alacrity and facility and with the absence of self-consciousness and accountability of an accomplished sociopath . This guy doesn't even acknowledge he's changing positions; he does it without breaking a sweat and never looks back. I ask you to consider the common thread underlying these turnarounds his nearly immediate backtracking on whether Iran poses a serious threat to America; his progressive position shifts on Iraq from "don't go in, stay in, and get out"; and his vigorous defense then abandonment of both his pastor and his church. The common thread, in a word, is expedience. It is not toughness; it is not savvy; it is not gravitas; and by all means, it is not admirable. Barack Obama is every bit as politically calculating as Bill Clinton but twice as smooth.

This Day In History: An Open Letter To Google
merrie
by merrie  6-16-2008
Dear Google comrades Sergei and Larry! The Party looks kindly at your attempts to correct and improve history by unobtrusively modifying the Google logo on notable calendar dates. For years you have zealously informed the masses about progressive and useful events like Earth Day or Earth Hour, while purposefully ignoring Memorial Day (no logo change on this reactionary American holiday). Most recently, you enlightened the unwashed about the Spanish artist Velázquez on June 6 without mentioning the Allied Invasion of Normandy on D-Day, a celebration of which would indeed be offensive to National Socialists. ~ The time is ripe for us to reinforce your amateurish efforts with our brand of historical revisionism that stands on a firm scientific foundation of the Party doctrine. The next big holiday is Independence Day. Review the following list of Party-recommended events and logos for mandatory inclusion.
